i would be fine carrying them if wallets could hold coins
A lot of wallets have zipper punches for coins, but I always find it annoying having a pile of metal under my arse. Front pockets always work well enough for my change.
your not suppose to make it hail though.
Haha Americans are asking the same questions we did back in '87.
Look at us now
Oh man, can you imagine how much a million dollar bills would be worth?
probably like
a hundred dollars!!!
but we do make one dollar coins

The idea is that we'd be replacing bills entirely.
I find this thread hilarious because in Canada (or at least my city) we literally throw loonies and toonies at the strippers. They try and get you to hit a certain spot or something and if you hit it, you win a poster or something.
After spending time in Europe and dealing with coins. I can safely say we should do this. I actually used my change rather than threw it in my pocket to be forgotten because it had useful value.
Would be a shame to see the iconic dollar go to be honest.

Let me guess

I like the idea of change being useful. As it is now, anytime I get change and it's like 75 cents or less, I just leave it as a tip if I can. If I can't, or it's more than that, I bring it home and put it in this coin bank I have that looks like a cow. I'll probably turn them into bills at some point, maybe when it's full.
I'd personally like to see coins over dollar bills.
Just carrying around something that's gold over green. Yup-yup. I like that concept.

yeah the nice thing about coins is that they have tangible weight which makes them harder to forget about
that said, they're still pretty inconvenient
my wallet is fucking bulging with loose change
Oh man, can you imagine how much a million dollar bills would be worth?
A million dollars?
I honestly think coins would be more convenient if wallets were redesigned a bit. And more satisfying to use.
I thought CNN was better than that
lol, always assume the media scraped the bottom of the barrel so hard they scooped up the floor beneath it.
We got rid of our £1 note a few years ago and I haven't seen a problem with it. Most wallets have a compartment that can comfortably accommodate at least £10's worth of change, and having the small denominations is useful sometimes.
Coins are so inconvenient! Why would you carry around a pocket full of coins when you can just fold a bill into your wallet?
That's the problem with coins. They are super low activity. Due to the weight and form factor they are actually much less likely to be used than paper currency, and can cost way more over time if I remember right. They are less likely to be broken as opposed to bills, but you also have to worry about people taking in coins to banks to have them turned into bills and dealing with the processing of them. In the case of the US, we're just not much of a coin culture I guess.
And one of the major things is, people say they would use coins, but don't. And you have to mint many more coins than you would dollars due to a significant portion sit in coin banks and jars. People don't like holding onto change on their person and as such leave it at home. If I remember right they'd have to mint like 3x the coins to keep things moving.
One of the other things is, some places don't accept coins for regular payments, and people still have problems with older dollar coins since people don't think it's real.
I don't want to have to carry around a bunch of $1 coins all the time. That sounds really inconvenient.
I'm a delivery driver too, so I'd have a fuckton all the time.
fuck this FUCK THIS
like i refuse to carry coins it fucks with me. i'm walking with a fucking noisy tumor sticking out of my leg and every god damn step i hear fucking jingle bells ringing through the air because apparently THAT'S EASIER THAN SMALL PAPER SLIPS which are noiseless.
I only keep quarters in my car and put the rest of the coins in whatever collection jar is nearest. fuck you mccain this is an awful idea

I have yet to see one of those coins. Last dollar coin was well over 5 years ago and it was a Sacagawea coin.

Get over it, printing new dollar bills constantly is wasting money and we already have buttloads of dollar coins not being used.
I remember that the half-penny was discontinued when its buying power was above what a dime is now
i never get rid of my dollar coins
Looks like the coin purse industry is going to get a massive rise in business.
Why is the 50 cent in there? I've literally never seen one in circulation, only in collections.
I carry one in my pocket for good luck.
Please God, let our government do something actually excellent for once and obliterate the one dollar bill off the face of the nation. A $2 coin would also be super.
Yeah save billions of dollars in printing costs, so they can waste it on more important things, right?
