1000 twitter accounts crying it wasn't done the right way and now is offensive to group X.
Someone'll always be offended. Even the way it's done now.
I can tell that some people are gonna be all over this for being "SJW PANDERING!!!" but as far as I'm concerned this is a pretty great new degree of customization no matter how you slice it.
I find people like that really funny, they constantly complain about people being too sensitive and easily offended, but get just as offended and loud themselves as soon as something goes against their beliefs
Extremist/radical people are basically always fucking retarded, no matter which side they're on or what it's about
Joel is going to have fun with this.
I mean he already outdid every single of those points through the use of mods. :v:

You know, I read the article and only got the idea that you'd be able to mix and match, but this is a lot of settings.
Coincidentally, this is also an mpreg fan's dream come true/
Long hair for metal dudes
Dresses and skirts for pretty dudes

It is a literal shit child, anyway does Origin have Summer sales etc?
But no actually I'm happy about this. I can make my sim wear a pretty dress and that's really cool tbh
i just want a setting where you can set orientation

I'm a little bit baffled by this to be honest.
How come you can choose to make a sim that gets people pregnant, gets pregnant, or can't do either but not... both?
if you're going for ultimate gender flexibility why isn't that an option?
btw whatever the hell happened to will wright?
btw whatever the hell happened to will wright?
IIRC he's a higher up at Linden Labs now (creators of Second Life).
Dev added features that would have otherwise been created as a mod are always a plus because it means any future mods of similar nature can just expand on it.
i just want a setting where you can set orientation
i mean you sort of can but not if you have the free will option on; I think that's moddable already though if I'm not mistaken.
i just want a setting where you can set orientation
Why? You can choose not to flirt with the same sex.
I've never noticed, but can NPCs in the sims, on their own without player interference, choose to be gay?
i just want a setting where you can set orientation
You don't really need one, just make your dudes fuck dudes.
Or chicks fuck chicks, I guess.
Though most of the games do actually have an internal sexuality thingy for every sim, influenced by what gender they tend to flirt with. They usually lean toward being straight by default, but you can occasionally come across a random sim who's gay.
I like Sims 4 a lot but it often feels like it's one step forward, one step back.
There's a lot of great improvements, it runs like a dream, I love the new style, the Create-A-Sim is great, I like the new emotions system a lot, and little things like being able to multitask are excellent additions. But the lack of an open world, or create-a-style is a real bummer. And there's the thing Sims games always do where you need to wait for the inevitable remakes of old expansions to come out.
I think what really caused Sims 3 to be unstable was the open world and I guess that's why we now have loading screens when travelling to a different area. They know that The Sims have a lot of casual gamers who want to run it on their average laptop.

Yeah, that and the create-a-style system was pretty taxing. It's a shame they couldn't find I way to implement an open world in a more optimized way though.
Even being able to go from lot-to-lot without a loading screen within sub-neighborhoods would be great.
i just want a setting where you can set orientation
Well, Sims aren't inherently bisexual. At least in The Sims 2, they begin as asexual actually, and from your guidence will form an attraction based on a scale of -100 to 100 to each gender.
It's actually a pretty subtle but neat system. I'm not sure how 4 handles it though.

Huh, I had no idea.
Well in Sims 3, when sims move out they actually go somewhere, and they can develop relationships on their own, so there is probably something there.
Sims 4, I don't think sims progress without interaction..? I don't remember.

I dunno if npcs could get in a relationship on their own, the whole "town do their own stuff while you are playing" thing was really glitchy when I played Sims 3. I remember moving out the brother of my Sim and when I looked at the family tree he had conceived a baby on his own

It's probably a system similar to 2 and 3 anyways.

An artificially impregnated, functional uterus and a C-section.
Sims can't get married or pregnant without player interaction in 4.
They can build a relationship without the player though, as I left progression on and when I went back to a household one sim was attracted to a different sim, and I never told them to flirt
Good to see this stuff happening - it's more inclusive to people and literally means less work for developers since restrictions have to be coded in the first place :v:

The way the Sims engine works makes it super easy to have pretty much any adult get pregnant, it's just a matter of changing one or two variables.
The Sims 2 even had a preset household with a pregnant man caused by weird alien bullshit.
This literally required no further coding than putting the UI in the character creator. Pretty cool of them to do that by default instead of resorting to mods, honestly.
Dev added features that would have otherwise been created as a mod are always a plus because it means any future mods of similar nature can just expand on it.
I don't remember seeing any transgender mods for 2 or 3; seems like it would be a difficult feature for a mod to add in (not for the devs though).

Considering all the alien abductions, this isn't really that radical for the Sims.
That pregnancy setting really needs a 'Both' option though (even if that physically doesn't make much sense, but that (currently) wouldn't be the only part).
I remember seeing a Kickstarter for a 'pee standing' utensil for women a while back, so that part isn't really that out there at all.

Sims 2 uses some kind of really weird bytecode VM where every instruction is also a possibly conditional jump. There are virtually no script mods due to that.
Sims 3 runs a CLR instance for scripting which should make it relatively easy, but it's entirely possible that feature was locked in native code.

Still have to model the clothes to work right for both rigs.

They probably didn't want to rewrite that part of the code to allow for a "both".
