A music genre can't just "die". I mean even some of the craziest Music Genres still have bands or producers (eg Speedcore, Noise, Grindcore)
dubstep sounds like a bunch of random songs mixed with dial-up and fax machine sounds
No, that's breakcore.

:eng101:
If dubstep sounded like Skreams dubstep, I would listen to it.
I started listening to dubstep in the summer of 2011, I believe. The things I listened to were chill and relaxed. Once skrillex came out, I could no longer associate myself with dubstep, since everyone assosciated dubstep with skrillex excusively.
I then moved to deadmau5 and daft punk
Call me a pretentious cunt or whatever, but I think a lot of you guys are mixing up dubstep and brostep (if it's a "true" genre in your eyes).
Examples:
Dubstep = Skream, Burial, Lorn, etc.
Brostep = Skrillex, Knife Party, Excision, etc.
PS: Too many of you guys bandwagon on opinions so hard and fast, the metaphorical axle snaps like a twig; goddamn.
I don't know... Knife Party, Excision, DatsiK, etc; all make pretty awesome dubstep still. It's definitely going to lose popularity since so many people are trying to sound the same, even Excision/DatsiK have stated they've started to bore of the genre and explore other things.

knife party is honestly the worst out of those 3.. i saw datsik live, cool guy. not sure about excision. focuses too much on being "omg so dirty" the most i think. now you know who's made a good turnaround? borgore.
the fucker went from this

i've played quite a few live sets in my time. wanna know which one made the crowd go harder and is generally better sounding?
that's right, the second one.
Good. I can understand people liking and thats just fine but literally almost every song ive heard sounds like shit and i guess im just to stubborn to listen to music that isnt made with real instruments.
So what exactly is a "real instrument"? Because i'm pretty sure synthesizers, vocoders, drum machines, samplers, DAWs, and the various types of circuit bending are real.

may i also add that this is your typical dubstep fan ever since sonny moore hit the scene up

Holy shit what happened to Borgore? I mean his music was decent in the beginning and now it's just...bleh.
And yeah Knife Party is just awful, they honestly hurt my ears. I mean just listen to this shit:

Speaking of awful dubstep artists, we can't forget this fan favorite:

i present the new mascot of dubstep

I don't understand how Skrillex's songs can be popular.
I thought it was over as soon as skrillex started dubstepping, he became the face of the genre and all the other dubsteppers tried to sound like him. After that it became impossible to find 'good' dubstep
w-wuh? Are you saying there was dubstep before Skrillex? That's preposterous!
So old dubstep is good because it's not new dubstep? Geez. Both are very different but that doesn't mean earlier dubstep is objectively better, both have their merits and are very different sounds. Personally, I love both. Different vibes for different occasions, y'know?
The irony is when dubstep emerged there was probably a bunch of people whining about it just like you guys are now
The biggest threat to music is those who want it to stay the same.
Good, progression of artists!
It's a shame that Skrillex gets as much flak as he does, though.
His new EP is an interesting step.

I've grown to dislike it a lot. Now I like Trap music.
Out with dubstep ,in with old school 90s trance

Fuck it, if anything else electro comes to the fold, I want some fucking
Speed. Core.
You guys should check Skream's newer shit, although he made dubstep, he's quickly transitioned into the disco style :

Also for those saying 90s trance will come back, it never went, but imo the new style coming back in, is garage and deep house ;

I hate when an argument over dubstep starts. I'm neither attacking or defending it here, but you could point out what you think is wrong with ANY music.
Dubstep takes no talent, all you do is hit the space bar!
Rap takes no talent, all you do is say random shit!
Rock takes no talent, all you do is strum a guitar!
I also don't see why people try to always go "no man, you're listening to the wrong dubstep, listen to this!" Usually if somebody hates dubstep, they wont like it. Telling them which songs are better and making them go through lists of songs they don't like just makes their opinion on it worse.
Take this for what you will: https://twitter.com/i_skream/status/339452723671998464
Sounds like rather equivocal speech to me.
Some weak posts in here. Skream hasn't really made any decent dubstep I a while and he's played a lot crap on his radio show for the last year and a half and he's been playing disco out for a while too so this was kind of expected. He hasn't been a producer to look out for for a few years
Doesn't mean the scene is dead, a lot of good stuff is released all the time, the nights will still be put on, the world continues turning.

EDM is a stupid term and you should feel bad for using it.
It's what Americans are calling dance music, now that they're interested in it allow sudden

Nah it's straight burial knockoff but is weak
Finally, I hated dubstep and even more when it was the shitty one that nobody could like.
I did like the DnB from pendulum but never liked the skrillex dubstep things.
And anything with metal sounds.

because what gets called dubstep is very broad, my mum likes so dubstep. A lot of it has a lot of calm, pace and space
dubstep peaked in about 2010 before the americans got hold of it
