• Dubstep "is over" - Skream

Skream's got a knack for producing disco/house tracks, no doubt. This one's got a tinge of 80's pop vibes in it.
I am not a huge fan of dubstep. I gotta admit though it is fun having a car full of guys and blasting dubstep, while going really fast down a country road.
its not dead, there will always be underground producers of dubstep, it just wont be in the limelight anymore
to anyone saying dubstep is easy to make:
Bring back the maraca shaker man! I always invision that there is some mexican guy passionately shaking his maracas in the background. I also like some of skream's new work.
Queue dubstep makers posting snarky comments.
i like both "dubstep" and "brostep" fite me
It might be over for him, but it's as popular as ever still. It's probably not going to go away any time soon either.
While this is just him saying he's done with dubstep, IMO, dubstep IS over since skrillex.
While this is just him saying he's done with dubstep, IMO, dubstep IS over since skrillex.
That's a pretty ignorant misconception though.
i personally can only stand a few techno/dub wise i like most of renard's serious music (aka when hes not as renard) gets good at the 1 min mark.
Jesus it's like he took the whole first page of Sylenth1 presets and put them over each other
Out with dubstep ,in with old school 90s trance
nobody in this forum likes 90s trance except you
While this is just him saying he's done with dubstep, IMO, dubstep IS over since skrillex.
no dubstep has branched because of skrillex
While this is just him saying he's done with dubstep, IMO, dubstep IS over since skrillex.
Skrillex mainstreamed dubstep to a much larger audience, it's far from over and more and more good dubstep is coming out each and every day. just because you say it's over and you don't like it doesn't mean everyone hates it. Instead of closing off your mind to new experience, open yourself to the world and experience everything. For all the haters, dubstep is good and you have to find out WHAT kind of dubstep you like. [editline]29th May 2013[/editline] I've yet to meet someone who hates DubFX. Even though his stuff is more DnB it's still close.
Dubstep is what got me into electronic music. I found the genra way back in 2009 and I can tell you it has evoled greatly. By that time and know, I found similiar genras such as drum and bass, glitch hop, edm, drumstep, and trance. And I love them all thanks tk this one genra. I'm kinda sad on how it evolved to this "brostep" shit skrillex and knife party ( to name a few) introduced.
That's a pretty ignorant misconception though.
You have to admit it's harder to find good dubstep since he arrived.
You have to admit it's harder to find good dubstep since he arrived.
I've had no issue finding new stuff, just listen to one Rinse.fm show and you'll find plenty of music.
I personally, don't like the 'old dubstep'. I find modern works, or the apparently named 'bro-step' to be much more to my liking, it has a lot of complexities and stimulation to it. Most of the original format material I can find is dull, in my opinion.
I thought it was over as soon as skrillex started dubstepping, he became the face of the genre and all the other dubsteppers tried to sound like him. After that it became impossible to find 'good' dubstep
Well I agree with you on most of this but on pandora they have some awesome songs on there. I like is Liquid Stranger but Skrillex? Not so much.
I'm pretty shit at picking out genres, but I found this to be both dubsteppy and enjoyable Which surprised me immensely; I don't normally go in for dubstep, even if I have enjoyed some of Skrillex' stuff.
The Glitch Mob has some pretty good music
I see people complaining about what is, isn't, was dubstep, etc. but I'd actually like to find what some of the "old" stuff was. The only dubstep song (if it even is dubstep) I've ever really loved was this, and I was hoping to find more like it but never could: [editline]29th May 2013[/editline]
The Glitch Mob has some pretty good music
Glitch Mob isn't dubstep though... is it?
Glitch Mob isn't dubstep though... is it?
it's not
Skreams first album is in my top 10 favourite albums of all time guys a legend even if his new disco stuff is appalling (imo)
They're not even glitch :v: This is glitch Speaking of dubstep, scorn left a huge mark on dubstep according to his fans This is one of his later tracks with him dabbeling in dubstep and mixing in industrial. I love it to bits.
I don't know about that but most of it doesn't sound very good to me, I like it when electronic music is smooth and soothing.

So much wasted time and thought going into specifying a song's characteristics into x genre, in the end you can find elements of everything in any song, it's pointless subjective contemplation. You either like a song or you don't, the genre doesn't matter, your opinion doesn't matter, nothings matters, enjoy what you want to enjoy and leave others alone if you don't enjoy what they enjoy.
Dubstep died so long ago. Every dubstep song I come across nowadays all sound alike. There is nothing into it. I still have a special spot in my heart for those dubstep songs which have been executed correctly and actually isn't only wubwub and glitch.
