excuse me, what? I seriously think you're giving him too much credit for how popular he is. This circlejerk fanbase around him is pretty much limited to a few sites on the internet.
Not to mention Don Jon was actually a shockingly well written movie, the dude knows how to direct too.
Not it wasn't.
Showing up on a film event wearing a suit but going "DON'T LOOK AT ME, DON'T LOOK AT ME, WHY ARE YOU INTERESTED INTO ME" it just sounds like an exact opposite - a pretentious attention grab
What is with people and re-interpreting this stuff as being really spastic, in this case you've portrayed him as going "UGHH NOBODY LOOK AT ME!!!!!". Dude he's wearing a paper bag on his head with writing on it and standing around.
Like that's so common on Facepunch whenever people are responding to stuff like this. Whenever they seem to dislike it they just portray the celebrity or whoever as being this really fucked up inaccurate caricature of what's really going on. It's so juvenile and it's gotten old. If this really does bother you for some reason and you're not just basing your opinion off of stereotypes of celebrities and artists (which are usually never accurate) then try actually having something to say without mis-representing them to make a point (or without using the word "pretentious").
I think when you post like that it further contributes to the trend of having ridiculously predictable and stereotypical attitudes towards things like this. People come into the thread who don't really know what to think and they see all these people posting "Man this guy is so 'LOOK AT ME'" and using words like "pretentious" and they just assume you're right because you're taking the easiest route you can to put yourself above the person so they adopt that sort of attitude as well because it looks like if they thought otherwise then they are not on as high a pedestal as you. It's frustrating to see and it's extremely common here. People rarely have an actual opinion on stuff like this, they just go for the typical "nah I'm above mainstream media I know how it is" attitude which is basically everywhere in internet culture and particularly awful in the gaming community specifically.

more like Even Steven
I totally forgot that show existed until someone mentioned it in this thread, funny thing too since it's the reason I've never taken him seriously in any role whatsoever. It's been so long that I had forgotten the reason he was not seen as a serious actor.
