Woolworths Beerwah (Glass House Mountains) became involved in the controversy after a resident posted photos on Facebook 'gloating' that they had stuck anti-halal stickers over the price tags of more than 100 halal certified products. The offender was not an employee of Woolworths. The offender posted photos of the incident on the Boycot Halal in Australia Facebook page stating: "Doing our bit to help boycott halal certification. Just spent about an hour placing these notes at our local Woolworths. Marked about 100 products. Funny how most of them were on special," the post, which has since been deleted read. The stickers read "This product is Halal certified (possibly funding terrorism.)" Members of opposition Facebook group, Boycott Halal in Australia? No Way reported the product vandalism to Woolworths. The page also shared the original post by the offender. "The manager has the name of the person who placed them, a big thank you to those who took swift action," the post read. what the fuck
well I guess it's nice of them to tell the muslims what's halal and what isn't
Sucks to see people who have been conned by fearmongering trying to spread it around to other people.
Love how the two items in the thread pictures don't even contain meat, and therefore are simply 'halal' just because they're vegetarian :v: [editline]19th January 2015[/editline] I also love how they didn't even spell 'boycott' correctly in their group name.
Both hilarious and sad at the same time.

Actually the spelling of words is pretty much the only correct thing on that propaganda page.
it's just a sad excuse for closet racists to say "get out dirty muslims" without actually saying it
Isn't the halal killing process inhumane?
I'm honestly sick of the whole anti-halal crap here in Australia. It's absolutely everywhere and I know more people who support the anti-halal movement than don't. Most people don't even understand what halal means and straight away associate it with funding terrorism.
Isn't the halal killing process inhumane?
Not really. Personally I've never seen a process for killing livestock that I would consider all that humane anyway though. The main difference between halal and like.. kosher meat for a good example is there's a muslim there at the slaughter.
Isn't the halal killing process inhumane?
Not any more than western farming/slaughtering methods really, I know in the UK the animals are unconscious when they're bled out
good 'ol queensland
I don't know what this accomplishes other than pissing off people in customer service.
Isn't the halal killing process inhumane?
Not the one used in factory butcheries, that's the exact same method as the one used for non-halal meat except some dude is paid to read a prayer while it happens. Could probably maybe sort of argue that the traditional method is less humane than bolt-pistol-to-forehead, but it's a weak case to make.
I've personally witnessed my little brother's friend ask if the water in our house was halal because his mom told him that everything he eats and drinks must be halal, even water.
I have been very confused before to randomly notice that a bottle of water I bought in the UK claimed it was Halal in the fine-print. Can't recall any more what the brand was but it wasn't anything crazy. A lot of companies just like to add that in if they can to target people like this kid.

I remember back when Vegemite got certified as Halal, there were tons of xenophobes going "THOSE DAMN DIRTY MUSLIMS ARE CHANGING OUR NATIONAL ICONS THIS MUST BE STOPPED!" Mate it's the same fucking shit in the jar, the only change was a little thing added to the label saying it's ok for muslims to eat it. But no, why educate yourself about what halal food actually entails when you can just complain about how the damn muzzies are ruining this country?

Only then it is considered as real Halal meat.

"this food is kosher, it may be funding dirty zionist jews" same exact logic - what the fuck is wrong with people.
I'm just up the road from here. Nice to know there's dickheads in every corner of the land...
I love aussie bogan logic

I buy meat from the halal butchers, they do really generous cuts and massive chicken breasts
it's just a sad excuse for closet racists to say "get out dirty muslims" without actually saying it
racists discriminate against a race(asian, black, caucasian). discriminating against practitioners of certain religion who happen to be immigrants would be xenophobia.
Isn't the halal killing process inhumane?
Yes and this is why you should boycott it it's also very harmful to the meat industry as supermarkets switch to halal butchers only to increase market share of their products. Many products deemed halal do contain animal extracts for example haribo.
racists discriminate against a race(asian, black, caucasian). discriminating against practitioners of certain religion who happen to be immigrants would be xenophobia.
It's religious descrimination, xenophobia implies an irratinal fear of something foreign.

They're selling just as much meat - or more, seeing as their market demographic has increased.
I buy meat from the halal butchers, they do really generous cuts and massive chicken breasts
I can confirm that halal butchers are amazing.
