racists discriminate against a race(asian, black, caucasian).
discriminating against practitioners of certain religion who happen to be immigrants would be xenophobia.
it's sectarianism. muslims in australia can consider themselves australian. which means it's certainly not xenophobia.
Not any more than western farming/slaughtering methods really, I know in the UK the animals are unconscious when they're bled out
Thats how it is in the US. In most of the "factories" in the US, the cattle are hung upside down and their heads are dipped in a saltwater tank with electricity current flowing through it. It makes them brain dead instantly and causes their hearts to pump like crazy. After that they just slit the throat and the animal bleeds out near instantly.
Only real difference between this method and Halal/Kosher is that a holy man comes buy and throws some water on shit and reads a prayer, then gets a massive paycheck.
Yes and this is why you should boycott it it's also very harmful to the meat industry as supermarkets switch to halal butchers only to increase market share of their products. Many products deemed halal do contain animal extracts for example haribo.
Unless you're a small-time butcher, you're really not going to have an issue not being a halal butcher.

After seeing a halal butcher do it to a lamb for Eid, I can say the procedure definitely depends on a butcher to butcher basis. The way he did was walk it into the slaughter area, hang it upside down by its feet (I'm guessing to get all the blood to the head), gave a prayer, then slit its throat.
Shit was crazy. I mean, this was a local butcher, not some large company that industrialized the process. Not sure how humane it is cuz it seemed quick enough, but people will always stir up some shit regardless.

Like you said, it's dependent on a butcher to butcher basis, but large scale corporations that sell meat do it efficiently and humanely.
They way you mentioned really isn't all that inhumane. When you hang the animal upside down like that its starts to freak out and its blood starts pumping, so once it's throat is slit it only takes a few seconds for it to bleed out and go unconscious.
That's like applying stickers to free-range chicken eggs that say "(possibly funding PETA)". Which is idiotic.

Can confirm. Used to let pigs run in circles for a while before slitting throath. That is before we could buy equipment to hang them by their hind legs. It looks cruel but it's really the quickest way for the animal unless you have a nailgun and have a gist of where its brain is.
Oh that facebook page.
I usually link it to my Muslim friends because its by far the most informative facebook page to find halal products. It even tells sources of meat that are halal but unlabelled as such like Steggles Chicken/Lamb at Coles/Chicken at some Woolies.

Do the non-muslims making this boycott consider those muslims Australian?
Are you seriously saying that halal slaughter is inhumane? It's the most humane way of killing, that's why it is permissible, ie HALAL. Cutting the throat and jacking the right arteries, veins and the windpipe instantly kills the animal unlike the senseless clobbering with a hammer until it's unconscious.

You do realize the method of clubbing an animal is pretty much instant death correct? Sorta why fisherman and tons of other people do it. You aim for a certain part of the skull that causes instant death.
The problem with Halal is the practice results in added costs, a requirement to officially certify intrinsically-halal foods, leads to consumers subsidising a particular religious belief and the certification fees are used to fund terrorism. For it to be Halal, it must only be prepared by a Muslim, Christian or a Jew.
There is also the belief that Halal must never leave the eyes of a Muslim into care of a Kaafir at any time after slaughtering till the time of consumption, then such meat cannot be eaten and is said to be Haram. This would and does exclude non Muslims from employment.

if you don't like halal because it is more expensive, then this boycott is perfect for you. don't complain about it, just don't buy it.
I buy meat from the halal butchers, they do really generous cuts and massive chicken breasts
Hell, most muslim food places around here are fucking generous, like an entire baguette stuffed with meat and high quality salad and a coke in a glass bottle, same price(if not less) as a big mac. I barely even eat out at non muslim places nowadays.
And if I remember right, most places here in the EU were doing halal style slaughtering beforehand anyway(just without the prayer), since hanging something upside down and slitting its neck is a really fast way to kill something.
