Oh hey, seperation of church and state is stupid. Why? Because Atheism IS a religion and there IS a Church of Atheism.
Nowhere in that article is there any mention of a church of atheism, unless I'm missing sarcasm here. [editline]02:46PM[/editline] Okay, in case that was just poorly worded sarcasm, ignore the following. It's not supposed to be a church of atheism. Atheism is not supposed to be organized with an agenda. Atheism is simply the belief that there is no deity, no god, no heaven nor hell. Atheism is not to be organized together in groups where they preach, as there is nothing to preach. Separation of church and state is pretty fucking important. Children go to school to be teached so they can be prepared for life, not indocrtinated in some lunatic's religion, nor are they to be taught that there is no god. Being taught ABOUT religion is prefectly ok and promotes understanding, but schools aren't meant to force the beliefs of others upon children. In norway they teach us to think separately, to be strong, not to follow some religion or way of life. I wouldn't want it any other way than such.
"If we are going to ban talking to students about God, then the atheists should also be banned from telling kids there is no God," said the Rev. Kirby Thurston.
Is that even happening, or is he just making stuff up?

Because Atheism IS a religion and there IS a Church of Atheism.
There are religions that have an atheistic basis (such as buddhism), but there is no church of atheism. Atheism is a stance on a single subject. It is not a basis of life, like a religion. It's kind of like how bald is not a haircolor.
FYI: Per definition, atheists can't be fundamentalists. They can be fanatics though.
Is that even happening, or is he just making stuff up?
What kind of atheist would go up to a child and say there is no god? There is no reason to enforce his thoughts onto a child... [editline]02:58PM[/editline]
FYI: Per definition, atheists can't be fundamentalists.
they are a shit band tho
Took me a while to get that. :v:
Really, the atheistic belief regarding deities gets special permission to be taught to kids? Why?
There is no such thing as teaching atheistic belief.
If ever there was to be holy water thrown at me, I would want my clothes to be covered in potassium.
If somebody threw holy water at me, I'd be pissed off, but water is water, yeah? On the other hand, if you could throw "atheist water" (sorry for not being creative) at a Christian, they might actually take offense from a religious standpoint.
Oh no, water dumped on a person. Nice news.
Tap water, I'm guessing?
Oh hey, seperation of church and state is stupid. Why? Because Atheism IS a religion and there IS a Church of Atheism.
Atheism isn't a religion. It's one view. It doesn't become an entire religion.
Oh hey, seperation of church and state is stupid.
lol you're dense
Tap water, I'm guessing?
Not just any tapwater, tapwater that some guy said magic words to and then waved his hand over.
I would of started to pretend to be burning in agony. Then make a creepy demonic voice saying "I am the spawn of Satan! How dare you!" Then chase them around screaming in tongues.
Really, the atheistic belief regarding deities gets special permission to be taught to kids? Why?
Correction, Atheism is based on theories. Not beliefs. Plus, the general concensus is that we wont be able to make any progress as a species untill... A. We are united under one religion, or B. We shed off religion as a whole. So I would say I want Atheism taught to my kids.
what if they started making out afterwards
Why can't people just accept others?

I haven't seen any studies concluding that there is no deity.
atheism isn't based on anything
atheism isn't based on anything
Atheism is based on the belief that here is no deity.
Atheism is based on the belief that here is no deity.
No it isn't. That's not how fucking logic works. Atheism is the lack of an assertion that something is there. It isn't a belief that nothing is out there, it's the lack of an assertion that something is.
Atheism is based on the belief that here is no deity.
atheism is lack of belief in a deity, it isn't based on anything
So, did it work?
No it isn't. That's not how fucking logic works. Atheism is the lack of an assertion that something is there. It isn't a belief that nothing is out there, it's the lack of an assertion that something is.
Something not based on evidence is a belief. I would consider your example to be agnosticism. Atheism is broadly accepted as the belief that there is no deity. Atheism has no proof, thus is a belief. Every idea based on deities is a belief, no matter what.
Keep religion out of schools unless your teaching historical value, don't talk about what you believe in, and don't tell others your opinion on what THEY believe in.

Atheism = the lack of an assertion. you're assuming that you HAVE to assert something. Atheism is simply not asserting anything. There's a difference between not knowing, and not asserting something.
Atheism has no proof, thus is a belief.
atheism doesn't need proof because it doesn't assert anything if a person was born without knowledge of religion, they'd be an athiest
