To me it seems like legalese to inform (read: threaten) Disney about more companies that could throw in more lawyers.
Well it seems Dell are about to get sued for my laptop charger.

But who is financially bigger? deadmau5 or Disney? I don't see a goddamn difference, perhaps this is going to end with a long ass fight.
Yeah, perhaps deadmau5 is the smaller one, but damn he's famous still.

is this a serious question

It is not about finance etc, its the fact that Disney has blatantly taken his song and used it without his permission AFTER they sent him a DMCA for his Mouse head

So yeah, I see this is going to be a long conflict then.
Maybe I just lived under a rock, I just cared for deadmau5's music, though it's not really my thing.
hate to say it but disney has kinda had that design far longer than deadmou5, but it's still pretty stupid regardless.
Hate to say it but maybe you should actually read the fucking article. It's not just about the logo.
But who is financially bigger? deadmau5 or Disney?
Theres only one way to find out!

Fun fact: Mickey Mouse should actually be in the public domain right now, but Disney spent millions lobbying Congress to up the amount of time before a work enters the public domain by another 30 or so years. The act was even called the "Mickey Mouse protection Act" by people in the industry.
So yeah fuck Disney.

I thought that it was only the early cartoons that he was in that would enter the public domain and not necessarily the character itself, like how the early superman cartoons are in the public domain and the character is still covered by copyright.

Here's the video Deadmau5 is sending a c&d for. Not even a parody or sampling, it's just the song with some sound effects over it. GG Disney.

Yup, totally not a cunt
Id rather go see Andy C mash 3 tunes together than Deadmau5 self-confessed EDM button pushing with pretty fucking lights and bros gurning on shit MDMA

the people seeing andy c are hardly sober if that's what you're thinking. have you ever even been to a dnb night at a club? more drugs at those than any other club nights ive been to
Yeah, I'm not a big Deadmau5 fan, but really, he deserves to win in this case. His logo is not similar enough to Disney's Mickey.

???
Are you one of these people that could confuse a music artist with a cartoon mouse (two different things)?
I'm scared in the future you won't be allowed to draw even a triangle anymore, because someone somewhere decided to use it as a logo for their company and you'll be sued for twice the CEO's 10 year income.

Because that's what it practically is, there's just bit less uguu than usual.
In my opinion, deadmau5's logo is using the fact that it's similar to the Mickey Mouse head. From what I now, it's supposed to represent a dead mouse, right? Mouses don't have those big round things on their head. That's a thing only Mickey Mouse has.
This is a case where Disney has to protect its trademark. The two big round things on the head are the problem: they're so commonly associated with Mickey (heck Disney makes a shitload of bucks just selling those ears) that Disney has to against it. Otherwise, why wouldn't they have done this before?

Except there are plenty of people who associate that with deadmau5 instead of disney?
Also, those "round things" are the ears. Certain species have round ears.

Well, I suppose I should have worded my statement better. Mouses do have ears like that, but the style in which deadmau5's logo portrays it is more commonly associated with Mickey Mouse's style.
Just because a lot of people associate it with deadmau5 doesn't mean that Disney should give up on protecting its trademark. Consider the popularity of deadmau5 and Mickey Mouse, there's really no battle here. The only reason why that statement applies to us is because we're part of communities where he's wildly popular. What about Common Joe who's on a music store and sees the deadmau5 logo? Heck, my mom just walked by whilst I was looking at a picture of him and asked why is that Mickey with crosses on his face.
For every person that knows about deadmau5, I can assure you that there probably is five hundred or so people that know more about Mickey. And the confusion is there because they don't know who deadmau5 is.

"The style" is literally the form of the ears on a mouse. There's no style to it. This is as retarded as trademarking a tree.

I just showed you three different ways to draw mouse ears. Yes, there is a style to it.

Even if the intent was to vaguely resemble Mickey's signature ears (there's probably part of that in here), how exactly is it illegal if whoever takes inspiration designs his own discernible thing and doesn't try to actually pretend to be another company or to directly steal their work ?
Besides, if you think this :
