Same year as morrowind, ok? Morrowind still looks good, especially of a game of that size. When you make everything as big as Bethesda does, you NEED to lower the graphics, if not by at least a little bit.
Oh I never meant to imply it was ugly, I was just saying that it wasn't the best looking game that came out that year. Same with Oblivion, beautiful, but not the most beautiful from that year.

I personally love either way, and Bethesda makes a very large game without killing the graphics utterly and completely. You get OK graphics, that are still very acceptable at the time its released, and with the scale of the game, the game looks much better. If I was in the Bethesda team, I would probably release a pack of larger textures for everyone for free, so everything looks much more hi-res. I think game developers should try this more, would be awesome to get a freebie graphics upgrade.
I'm sorry, but to say "They make games with bad graphics" then point to a game that was made that long ago, which was actually pretty good back then, and they have to downgrade graphics for the size of the game, is absolutely barbarically stupid.
what no that's not even remotely what i said. i said historically they've never had the best graphics because that wasn't the point of the game. and second of all, "barbarically stupid"? i don't think being barbaric has anything to do with graphics...
as long as the gameplay is there, who cares about graphics? [editline]3rd November 2011[/editline] My experience of Morrowind and Oblivion was that they looked pretty good. not as good as the graphics heavy FPS titles about, but for RPGs they were fairly pretty
Maybe they will release early for us? Nah that it far too optimistic, the same happened with New Vegas.
"severely downgraded" i know skyrim is going to be a great game and all, but you really don't have to say ridiculous shit like that. we know what the graphics are going to look like and nobody cares. elder scrolls games have always looked quite awful, see Morrowind: That was 2002! their games have always been famously lacking in the graphics department but it never mattered and it shouldn't matter now...
Except back in 2002 you needed the newest GFX card to play it.
Except back in 2002 you needed the newest GFX card to play it.
yeah because the game was pretty badly optimized.
what no that's not even remotely what i said. i said historically they've never had the best graphics because that wasn't the point of the game. and second of all, "barbarically stupid"? i don't think being barbaric has anything to do with graphics...
"always looked quite awful" seems a bit far fetched to say to me, at least, in 2002 those graphics were just a little under-average at the time. You seemed to have been pointing out Morrowind being from 2002 as if it wouldn't be much difference from then and now, when then and now graphics-wise has an insane difference. [editline]2nd November 2011[/editline]
yeah because the game was pretty badly optimized.
I actually never had any issues with running it, I recall, I thought it looked awesome. Then again, that was many many years ago, I'm only 18 now. [editline]2nd November 2011[/editline] God damn does time fly.
11/11 is Polish independence day
If Empik gets their hands on it a few days early like they sometimes do, it would be fucking great.
I actually never had any issues with running it, I recall, I thought it looked awesome.
yeah exactly. trust me i was like 18 then or something i don't remember and everyone i knew had it bog down on their computer to the point that we had to lower the graphics to run it. sure the graphics look quite good for 2002 if you could run it at max when it came out... most people could not if i recall correctly. for the older gamers the biggest memory of morrowind lacked any kind of shadows and was run in like 1024x768
Watched the leaked gameplay and damn it is going to be game of the next two years for me. It just seems so fun. It doesn't look very good, but it looks damn good and I don't care. Buying the shit out of it.
Even if I had an Xbox I wouldn't download it. Just gonna hang around with that feeling of anticipation.

That was just the mindset back then. Now-a-days you take a picture of a real lake and compare it with a lake that was rendered on a computer today, you tend to wonder which ones the real one and which one isn't for a while. Put a picture of a lake in any game in 2002 and compare it with todays renders and you can only help but chuckle.
I hope noone really goes for this, it'd be pretty damn idiotic to download it

Because when I was a kid everything looked realistic. [editline]2nd November 2011[/editline]
I hope noone really goes for this, it'd be pretty damn idiotic to download it
Who gives a shit. Let them download if they want to. The fans will buy it anyway.
yeah because the game was pretty badly optimized.
No because it used bleeding edge shader technology. [editline]2nd November 2011[/editline] Any videos so far?
Not surprising in the least, especially with a high profile, AAA game such as Skyrim. The PC version will follow soon, if past trends are to be believed.
Wouldn't matter because the PC version uses steamworks right? If so it will be encrypted.
Happens..
Hurray! But i still have to wait like the rest:suicide:
No because it used bleeding edge shader technology.
Well, Quake 3 did that in 1999. not particularly bleeding edge.
Am I the only one who doesn't find this game interesting whatsoever?
Am I the only one who doesn't find this game interesting whatsoever?
Yes, yes you are.
"It doesn't look very good, but it looks damn good." - AceOfDivine. circa 2011.
Haha I see it now. It doesn't look too good visually, it looks damn good in gameplay.
If this was leaked on the PC, the publishers would whine like hell about PC gamers being why they're not selling anything. But since it's console..
