I hear it takes several montsh before you get to the point where you can buy PLEX's with in-game currency instead of real currency. If you are eve superrich I bet they pretty much have EVE for life lol Makes me wonder what it would be like if CCP made an EVE 2 that is much more user friendly and not as hard to get into - would everyone who is in EVE1 lose their stuff?
If you are eve superrich I bet they pretty much have EVE for life lol
That's kinda what's going to make people hate Dust 514. Since the performance of the console players will affect the outcomes in the EVE universe. So some rich bastard will just keep buying the "good" teams.
Truth is everybody reaches a point in this game where they can support their account (or even accounts) with in-game currency in a few hours of playtime.
I must be playing wrong.
I would like to play EvE, but monthly fee is huge turn-off for me. I like to pay for my game once and be able to play it forever.
$15 a month isn't a big deal at all.
There's already mercenary corps in eve, so it won't change jack shit.
Merc ships won't really effect the outcome of whether you have control of a ground based location.
Ugh I'd take this offer in a heartbeat, especially for the extra help from another player. But I can't really afford the monthly fees. I know you're supposed to be able to buy game time using ingame currency, but I've been told it's really expensive. How hard/long does it take to earn that much?
You can't afford $15 a month? That is 50 cents a day. You can find that on the ground. [editline]29th April 2012[/editline] My only concern about Eve is that it seems like a game where casual players will get left in the dust and not be competitive.
Merc ships won't really effect the outcome of whether you have control of a ground based location.
True, but they're still hired to fight in nullsec too.
Merc ships won't really effect the outcome of whether you have control of a ground based location.
3:00 Good luck taking a district as a dust player when you are getting asspounded by a fleets worth of guns from space
Merc ships won't really effect the outcome of whether you have control of a ground based location.
His point is that hiring ground mercenaries isn't that different from hiring capsuleer ones.
3:00 Good luck taking a district as a dust player when you are getting asspounded by a fleets worth of guns from space
The thing I'm loving about this, is that a spy could feed the wrong launch codes, making them shoot their own troops.
$15 a month isn't a big deal at all.
Yeah, but if I want to play it for 12 months that costs me 150$, which is kinda too much for a video game in my opinion. I could probably snatch second hand Xbox or PS3 with that money. Not to mention how much remorse you feel if you stop playing the game after 2 years or so (but then again you should be able to pay for your account via ingame currency by then).
The thing I'm loving about this, is that a spy could feed the wrong launch codes, making them shoot their own troops.
I dont think the launch codes determine where the strike lands But a spy could certainly hit his own troops with an orbital strike by lasing them or whatever

You fund a dev team that dedicates all of it's time to making the game better, developing new content, and maintaining the servers. And if you're playing a game for 20/h (which is a conservative estimate for most MMO players) a month for 2 years, you can safely say that you got a good value, more of a value than your typical single player game. If you're paying for a cell phone or paying for your own food, $15 a month is manageable. Like I said, it's only 50 cents a day. You can find that on the ground.
$15 a month isn't a big deal at all.
Especially considering you get the expansions for freebie, compared to other MMO's (lol WoW)
Also if you do the longer-term subscriptions you save some cash. I just do it yearly, is only 10bux a month. Though that's understandably a bigger investment.
So can you take your ingame currency and convert it into real world cash to spend?
So can you take your ingame currency and convert it into real world cash to spend?
Nope. not officially anyway.
So can you take your ingame currency and convert it into real world cash to spend?
That's against the ToS. Converting in-game currency to game time is encouraged though.
I dont think the launch codes determine where the strike lands But a spy could certainly hit his own troops with an orbital strike by lasing them or whatever
Rather than designating where you are told to, you could designate your "own" base area that the guys you have infiltrated has spent a while holding up. Interaction between the two games most certainly opens up a lot of possibilities, and should make playing either a lot more fun.

From the level 3 missions, you'd be looking to make around ~1.5Million ISK in mission completion and another 3M in bounties/loot per mission, these take around 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete. Level 4 missions are where the real money is as you can see below: From level 4 missions you'd get around ~6M in mission completion and another ~6-15M in bounties. Each one takes around an hour to complete, and you'd really be needing a well equipped battleship to run them quickly. You'd need to make 450M/month to start paying for the game itself. It'd be a push to get to the level you'd need to be skills-wise to start running Level 4's in the first month, but you could easily start running level 3's quickly and efficiently and then start training for a Level 4 specific battleship. So it really all depends on how much time you want to dedicate to the game:- You could pay for your sub by running level 3's in a cheaper battlecruiser, whilst working towards level 4's, or you could pay for 1 more month and use the accumulated wealth you'll have by then to buy a better ship. It also depends what you want to do in the long run, I can advise you on a lot of the things you might have seen relating to EVE (Piracy, Trading, Alliances, PVP, gambling), tell you what to train and the steps you should be taking to get there. You can be the most causal player of all, never having touched a weapon module or skill, yet still have an impact economically. Hell if you know something about stock markets, I bet you could head straight to Jita and sit there and turn the 250M I'm willing to provide into Billions of ISK in a few days. I'm not a trader myself so I'm not too sure how that works.
area we trying to convince people to play eve in this thread because its a horrible idea do not play eve

Big missions like Worlds Collide or Angel Extravaganza take around 30 or 45 minutes though.

It's fun to level up and be able to make higher level items as you play... it's kind of what got me into runescape as a kid. Poor, naive, kid...
Are you kidding? I'm being entirely serious with the offer. Beacon was just kidding cause we play EvE together and have a corp, and he's a big trollman.
And that's exactly what every other scammer in this game says. You'd probably guide whichever fool that believes you to the nearest lowsec gate and gank him afterward. If it's too good to be true, it most definitely isn't, especially in EVE. A properly fitted Tengu can solo L4 missions with ease, something almost no other ship can do. all the necessary research would take a couple of months but would be worth it.
Plenty of ships can solo L4 missions with ease. Not many of them are as cool as a Tengu though.

Or butthurt because you lost a ton of money in Jita? Seriously dude I'm not a cunt, and I don't scam people. Me and Beac are gonna try some level 4's again cause we've both got Tech III Strategic Cruisers and should be able to mince them in like 15 mins.
I used to fly a buffer tengu when I played, not for carebearing though, for pvp, the shitslapper MK I died due to people exploiting a bug, allowing a ton of people to get kill rights where they shouldn't have, contacted a gm and they got banned and I got (most) of my tengu back :v: That thing is so fucking cash. [editline]30th April 2012[/editline] Was in a merc corp at the time and another merc corp didn't like my tengu very much :v:

As long as you get a Hulk and Mine every now and then, you can basically play for free
