You are correct. I watched the show. He said that. If you want to get real technical, it was a writer. Does that really matter?
My step mom is a nurse and she's had to let people choose medicine or faith. As a nurse you can't just be like "okay sorry we know this is your son but we are going to inject drugs into him without your consent"
In the UK, decisions like this can be overruled by medical staff if they feel the parents aren't abreast of all the facts so the hospital can act without consent. They can do it without a court order in an emergency but they have to get one if it's a non-emergency; and largely, they get it.

holy fuck this is news to me
Would a doctor not be the answer to their prayers?

The only one time where a Family Guy episode is actually relevant.
Perhaps God created the knowledge that led to doctors and medicine for your child to not die, dumbfucks.
Literally the worst kind of people.
That's like praying to heal someone suffering from gunshot wound to the stomach. Retarded. I wonder if the parents still hold their faith. After 2 colossal failures like this I would probably start to have some doubts.

Nothing gets by you.
im like 99% sure that, even though the government could give less than a shit about your religious beliefs, you arent allowed to deny your family/others medical attention when they need it

Not in America, like I said before my mom was a nurse and dealt with it first hand.

you're using the wisdom of a fictional drug addict doctor to color your opinion on all people who follow a religion which is kinda dumb imo (and ironic, considering you're using fictional wisdom to discredit people who follow what you believe to be fictional wisdom)

fictional wisdom? what the fuck are you talking about?
unless the writers are a magical team of unicorns, elves and pixies, the 'wisdom' came from something real and therefore counts following your logic
don't cry just because he has a opinion against fanatics and uses a quote to support his opinion

Are you seriously trying to argue that that one quote is somehow invariably locked to one character in a TV show? Agreeing with something someone wrote as a sarcastic comment can hardly be called "using fictional wisdom", and certainly isn't on the same level as believing a statement of something's existence without evidence.

Nope he's just testing us, I gotta get into Heaven no matter what the cost.

I happen to think its a relevant quote. It does not 'color' my opinion of all religious people. My parents are religious but they took me to the doctor when I was sick.
I dont particularly have any religious preference right now, but i'm reading the bible and I feel like I understand it 100x more than any "christian"
Didn't these asshole parent's last kid die from appendicitis after a week of not being treated? Why the fuck were they allowed to keep their children, stupid shitbricks.
You'd think they'd get the point the first time around.
Christ's healing is eventually healing of the spirit and the mind, not the body.
I almost never get sick.
Why is faith-healing a thing? I thought the one thing religion and science could agree upon was medicine is good. D:
Because in America, if you don't sign 'your life away' as they call it then they are liable. Doctors are scared of being sued, it is like Russia with insurance fraud. If somebody has one little thing done wrong to them it's SUE SUE SUE. So doctors don't want to get sued out of their job, would you?
[editline]23rd April 2013[/editline]
This all ties into 'amurcian freedoms' I'm sure if we passed a law saying "sick children have to be treated" the repubs will call it communist/socialist or some stupid bullshit and say it impedes on our rights and the gubmint forcin us hard working 'muricans to spend their hard earned money!
Ah, here we actually have a clause in the criminal code, about an inability to essentially sign your health away to anyone. The ones being exempt from this being medical professional who can essentially heal you.
Why is faith-healing a thing? I thought the one thing religion and science could agree upon was medicine is good. D:
Religion is not a single entity in itself, it's just a concept. Some cults make people believe in stupid shit. I mean, particularly stupid shit that's hazardous for one's life and health.
They must not even read their Bible. Jesus even says that sick people need doctors.
Matthew 9:12
On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.
These negligent parents need to be punished and educated.
I don't think it's wrong to even believe that people can be healed physically, but just because you believe that, doesn't mean you only rely on that. Most of the healings in the Bible occurred after the sick and injured have tried everything, including medicine and doctors, most of them went to Jesus AFTER going to doctors.
I'm sure they'd come up with some argument about how Jesus cured a man of blindness and another of leprosy, but guess what.
He's kind of...dead now. Sort of difficult for him to perform miracles now.
I won't really start a pro/anti atheism or pro/anti Christianity debate. I'm not religious, but I'm just saying, these people aren't Christians. They're morons.

Well, Charismatic Christians actually believe they are commissioned to do the same things Christ did while he was on the Earth. So the fact the Jesus is dead, doesn't change their mind about it.
John 14:12
"I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father."
I find it ironic how stuff like this is legal only because it has something to do with religion. I respect peoples beliefs, but this is just wrong
