Look like it might be a new take on the Cremator?
Getting to see a living Cremator finally would be incredible.

Ups defy gravity! Gravity's a law, I obey the law!
But Gabe said he was done with the episodic games, which indicates the next game would be HL3 instead of HL2EP3.
No, it would still be Episode 3. They are done with the Episodic Model after Episode 3. Half-Life 3 will be an entirely separate entity if it ever actually exists. Each one deals with a separate incident. Half-Life, Half-Life: Blue Shift, Half-Life: Opposing Force, and Half-Life: Decay all deal with the Black Mesa Incident. Half-Life 2 and the Episodes all deal with the Resistance against the Combine. Half-Life 3 will deal with something else entirely.

this man is correct
I cannot shake the sight of a face where the laser beam comes out of, I see 2 eyes, a nose and a mouth. Creepy...
I'm talking about that plant looking thing with the lazer, by the way.
Half-Life 3 would probably be either a war on the Combine homeworld type thing, or fighting against the GMan and his employers.
Half-Life 3 would probably be either a war on the Combine homeworld type thing, or fighting against the GMan and his employers.
nah, I want a completely new set and storyline just like in hl2.
Half-Life 3 would probably be either a war on the Combine homeworld type thing, or fighting against the GMan and his employers.
I doubt it would have Combine in it.
I don't see how anyone has the vaguest of ideas of what the plot of the next next HL would be unless Gaben said something that I've missed
what if there's no combine homeworld
just a collection

Neat

I fucking hope it's the latter. Diving right into the heart of the Combine's empire to destroy it once and for all seems out of place. If anyone dooms the Combine to total collapse, it should be Gman's employers, not Gordon.
I really, really hope the game doesn't look like this.
This doesn't match Antanov's style at all. He is one of my favorite concept artists!
I hope he is still working on it, because abstract forms just don't fit, like, at all.
Why are people still calling Alyx Alex?
nah, I want a completely new set and storyline just like in hl2.
Unlikely. If you really want that, you'd have to wait for HL3. This is still finishing up the episodic series, so no massive leaps in plot here.

Didn't they ditch the episodic shit already?
Didn't they ditch the episodic shit already?

NO, THIS DOES NOT FUCKING APPLY TO THE HALF LIFE 2 EPISODES

Didn't they ditch the episodic shit already?
Not until after Episode 3, I already covered this.
it's been fucking said so many goddamn times, why do people think this

Well, judging from the synths they are a collective of all the races dominated by whoever's in charge of the Combine.

The Combine empire is too big to destroy. The most you could hope for would be to completely cut their universe off from ours (and I think that was already accomplished in Episode 2).
1. Valve calls it Half Life 3
Where?
1. Valve calls it Half Life 3
2. After years of hype it is inevitable that Valve cannot sustain the episodic framework and produce a title that will meet up to people's expectations
3. Source is getting old- it's time for a new engine, and Valve puts out their new tech with Half Life titles
4. The HL2 story arch basically ended with Episode 2
5. The game has been under development far to long for it to be an episode, both logically and for the reason @ point 2
6. Valve has called it Half Life 3 already
4 of those are opinions, and two are the same thing, which they haven't.

Alright. Alright.
1. Valve called it HL3 when prompted by fans about HL3. Fans use HL3 and EP3 interchangeably, why would Valve care
2. The title Episode Three has nothing to do with its actual length, but rather continuity with the other games.
3. Refer to 2. They can still develop a 7 hour length game and call it an episode. It means nothing.
4. No it didn't, it ends with Episode Three. Valve has said this. The only significant thing to happen in Episode Two is that they close the superportal. The Combine is still present.
5. Refer to 2.
6. Refer to 1.
I find it hard to believe that after almost six years they're still working on and are going to release another episode. It doesn't make much sense from a financial point of view because that many years of development doesn't come cheap and they can realistically only charge a small amount for it. It also doesn't make much sense from a consumer point of view because, again, in that much time since the last game your average consumer going to expect much more than what an episode can provide. The only way I see the model working is if it's either part of a new bundle like the Orange Box or as a prologue to a new feature length title in the series (essentially Half-Life 3) that is released within a year or two beforehand.
Who gives a shit they still haven't announced the game, so go and shit bricks over it when they actually announce it.
Well if they really are making EP3 instead of HL3, I'm not even gonna bother with HL3.
If it took them this long to give out even a little tease about EP3, think how long it will take with HL3.
Most of all I don't think EP3 will even live up to the hype anymore, so it might end up like Duke Nukem Forever.
call it whatever you want, I'll refer to it by what they've been referring to it as
the next installment in the half life series: ricochet 2
(by your logic)
