Hating on Christians is like hating twillight fans. A waste of time, you will never stop this eternal shitstorm.
Sure, you can't stop it by any legal means, but that doesn't stop people hating on them; they are somewhat deserving of the ire of intelligent folk.

"We have seen the administration come out and say, 'We condemn anyone who denigrates religious faith.' And they come out in regards to this anti-Muslim film," Starnes said. "Well, that's well and good, but my question is: When has the administration condemned the anti-Christian films that are coming out of Hollywood?
"Oh, anti-muslim films? That's cool, that's fine, I have no problem with it whoawhoawhoawhoa anti-CHRISTIAN films!? This is an outrage I demand justice be brought to these blasphemers, nay, these infidels!!1!1!"

But seriously, this is Fox News and all, but the first time I read the article I interpreted it in a different light: I thought the guy wanted to make a point about how shows that make fun of everything like South Park don't incite violent reactions as opposed to a single film that caused a powder keg in Africa and the Middle East to explode.
that's the thing though, trey parker and matt stone want you to take South Park seriously
that's why they put their own opinions in it. a good example would be the recent whaling one where they basically slagged people off for hating whaling while being okay with slaughtering chickens and cows.
I wouldn't really say they are out to change people's opinions though. Its just satire. They point out/exaggerate the hypocritical/wrong parts of recent events.
I wouldn't really say they are out to change people's opinions though. Its just satire. They point out/exaggerate the hypocritical/wrong parts of recent events.
but all of their heroes did set out to change people's opinions.
satire is different from parody. Family Guy is parody, South Park is satire.
South Park isn't mocking religious people, it's mocking EVERYONE.
There is nothing that South Park does not give a negative portrayal of.
It's not just religiously intolerant, because likewise they've given negative portrayals of atheists as well. This is a satire show, meant to be offensive as hell for the sake of comedy.
no there's one group they haven't mocked
the satirists, the jesters in society. they don't touch that group.
they'll torch everyone else because they have no respect for them, but they never ever touch the satirists.

...what :v:?
...what :v:?
ugh
you say they mock everyone
i say no they no mock satire people cuz they respect satire people
ooga booga
Ooooh, you mean other people who make works that offend people on purpose?
Well, I could see why, giving an offensive portrayal of people that are offensive on purpose is probably... well, complicated
It's South Park.
That's like flipping over to Jerry Springer and expecting a thoughtful debate over politics
or watching fox news and expecting a thoughtful debate over politics

no, it's because South Park is in a long line of history where you mock the shit out of things to show the absurd.
South Park is no different from Candide. Seriously, read it and you'll see South Park in its infancy. the wacky plots, the idiot characters, how reality gets bent just to make the joke hit home a bit more.
to say South Park is just having a go because they can is missing the point of South Park and satire. they believe, like all satirists, that showing the absurd and the idiocy in certain positions is the best way to enlighten people. sometimes they're just having a laugh, sometimes the creators are really angry and show palatable rage towards their subject matter, just like their heroes Monty Python.
South Park is just trying to get people to think and say to themselves "hey, you know, South Park is right , X is silly and stupid and not worth our time".

I never denied that. Although South Park can be very absurd, immature, offensive, and stupid... it almost always does bring up some noteworthy point to think about.
It's not a stupid show, it's just heavily disguised as a stupid show.
I was very confused by your argument though... the idea of South Park purposely not making satire about other people who make satire just confused me since I never thought the reason they didn't do this was any other than because there aren't much other very talked about people making satire :v:
It wouldn't surprise me if they'll satire the French satirist soon though.
It's ever so fun to see people mad about someone else making fun of their imaginary friends.
Fox News host has decided that a bigger and more professionally made production
South Park? Professionally made?
It looks like the only person who actually read the article was Elecbullet.
This is not a call for banning South Park, indicting its creators on charges of blasphemy, or shipping everyone involved off to Guantanamo Bay. This is a comparison: If the government is denouncing anti-Islamic media, why isn't it denouncing anti-Christian media? He's saying it's ridiculous to target South Park as an offensive piece of media and say it should be condemned, just as it's ridiculous to target a piece of anti-Muslim propaganda made by some dumbass nobody cares about, regardless of how people around the world react.
Not saying I agree with it entirely but jesus christ at least half of you must only read the headline and look at the picture before hitting reply.
Has South Park ever made fun of libertarians? That's the one group I've never seen them make fun of.
lol blasphemy
Has South Park ever made fun of libertarians? That's the one group I've never seen them make fun of.
Well Matt and Trey are libertarians iirc, but they did have this:

Out of 230 episodes only 5 of them mentioned Muhammad, so I don't see their point.
Well Matt and Trey are libertarians iirc, but they did have this:
Didn't they say that they hated Republicans, but hated Libertarians even more? I'm fairly certain at least one of them did.

I believe the quote goes "I hate conservatives, but I fucking hate liberals", something about political correctness I think.
I think it was Matt who said it.

Uhh, I don't think they care. From the interviews I saw with them they just take 'big stories' in the news and turn them into a giant joke. Whatever they think is funny they do, they just happen to be really offensive at the same time.
Whoawhoawhoawhoa. Investigated for blasphemy? Who the fuck do those people think they are; the Inquisition? They need to cut that shit out before Romney tries to recruit them and go around pursuing "heretics". I will sound like an absolute heretic for this (maybe even an apostate), but from where i'm standing, religions are like a kind of LARPing in which the participants serve an imaginary entity of power, fulfilling a personal fantasy in which they submit their will to a higher authority and hope for eternal life. LARPing seems sad enough as it is, but taking LARPing seriously is a whole other level of bullshit.
If there were actual gods, actual beings of power that benefited us if we worshiped them, THEN I would see religion as valid and useful; hell, i'd probably worship a god that was relevant to my interests if there was one. But no, that's not how it works, and thus I perceive religion as little more than a pitiable lifestyle choice, though I will admit the holy texts of the various faiths could make for an interesting bit of reading.
you know, that's really funny. i mean if there wasn't God who saved us then i could understand why you wouldn't worship him; hell, i'd probably do the same. but no, that's not how it works, and thus I perceive Catholicism as one of the most vitally important things we have, though i will admit it's lots of fun to watch south park/etc when they lampoon the church.

If the Biblical god exists, the only thing he "saved" us from was the shit he got us in in the first place. He's a massive fuck! The only reason we should praise this non-existant god would be to avoid him destroying us. He rigged it all. it's all in the bible. Try reading it.

hang on, is he evil or non-existent
hang on, is he evil or non-existent
First and foremost Non-existant. But you're praising a god you believe to exist. you just don't get that the god you believe to be good, would in fact be badshit cruel. Just read.
Also don't grasp at straws, i was clear about the bible being bullshit the first time, wasn't i? My words were: "If the biblical god existed"
People need to get over it.

no you never said "if the biblical god existed"
you said "if the biblical god exists" - thus you're leaving it uncertain as to whether he exists or not. then you go on to say "he's a massive fuck!" in the present tense so i reckon subconsciously you do know of His existence, which makes sense.
you should try reading your own words again. what was it - "Just read"? yeah, "Just read" to you, buddy
