Ontario school board refuses to turn off wi-fi networks

I read that 1 year of exposure to a wi-fi transmitter is about as dangerous as a 15 minute long cellphone call.
Meh.
"I'm sorry I will turn them off just for you."
Place even more wireless access points, oh and get thanked that you turned it off. Some how the headaches and other complaints are totally gone.
At first I was like "Someone in Ontario is THIS stupid?" Then I saw Simcoe County and thought "Oh, rednecks."
I wish we had this shit in the TDSB, would make it a lot better when I bring my laptop to school.
Right now, at this very instance, there's an absurd amount of EM waves traveling through your walls and through your body from all sorts of things, radio stations, cellphones, wifi networks, stray background radiation, everything really. A low powered wifi network that can probably barely cover the entire school isn't going to do anything.
This reminds of when I used to use all sorts of rediculous reasons to stay out of school, I guess the cool one today is that wifi signals are frying your brain. :colbert:
Southern Ontario is getting kinda nasty. It's no longer the home of the amish and businessmen anymore that used ot be in the 90's when I lived there.
Uh.. no it's not. I'm in it right now. Stop pulling shit out of your ass.
I've had a wireless router in my room for as long as I can remember, no sickness here yet.

This.
In high doses, radio waves WILL cause cancer and do all sorts of other things.
But not fucking wi-fi network levels.
The Vatican had to pump ungodly amounts of power through a massive radio tower to give kids cancer. A wi-fi network doesn't even remotely have the juice.
I just read this in the Hamilton Spectator yesterday. I laughed at the amount of ignorance these people express.
All it takes is 10 minutes on the Wikipedia article on radiation and almost anyone can understand why Wi-fi signals can't cause these types of symptoms.
By this logic, microwave ovens are cancer factories (which they probably believe to be true too).
Wow, no one in this topic believes in this, i'm proud of you FP. As for the ignorant people claiming this, not so much
How else will the faculty get free porn?
I got to "radiation is making kids sick" and stopped. How fucking uneducated are people, seriously
I stuck my hand in a busted microwave and it burned me so wifi must be exactly the same
hey guys the sun creates radiation keep your kids away from it
Doesn't everything cause cancer nowadays.
i used to go to school in that district.
Stupid parents, i'm fine
I must have full body cancer considering I'm sitting next to a wifi router.

This is Facepunch, we're already way ahead of you

My whole town must have cancer by now... everywhere i go i get a shopping list of WiFi networks to connect to.
Yes, wi-fi networks are OBVIOUSLY worse than a nuclear reactor going boom boom, right? The radiation will kill us all. Isn't that why nobody is using them? :downs:
Correlation does not imply causation. People need to learn this.
if you really think about how many electromagnetic waves are traveling through our bodies right now, its amazing.
every tv channel on every carrier, thousands of xm and sirius satellite stations, am and fm stations, cb and hamm radios in trucks and peoples attics, millions of wifi zones, tire pressure monitor systems on newer cars, the list is endless, and it doesnt fucking matter one bit, because they wont give me cancer.
I can't help but want to physically harm those parents for being so stupid.
Also, unless your skull is metal, the EM radiation (not microwave) isn't going to do you any harm.
Imagine the shit this guy has to put up with.

you haven't seen northern ontario.
OMG l TURNED THE LlGHT ON THlS MORNlNG AND lT BLlNDED ME AND ALSO GAVE ME CANCER AGGGG BAN LlGHTBULBS
Ignorant computer illiterate people. Cellphones are more harmful.
We had Wi-Fi in our Junior School, that extended across the whole school (probably had a range of around 200m each way effective) and no matter if you stuck a group of sixth year kids in the room with the transmitter for a week (which they did when we did an IT project) it wouldn't ever cause illness. Background radiation from TVs, Wifi, Mobile Telephony or anything else is harmless and only hillbillies should not know that.
Heh, these symptoms could point to STRESS. You know, some people get stressed at school. What a concept.
Also, hundreds of people flow through the schools, one or two of them can get 75% of the students sick.
Stress? Sicknesses? FUCK IT, BLAME THE WIFI!
Go to any populated city, take out a cellphone / laptop / iPod and do a scan for wifi access points. There is likely anywhere between 20 and 60 SSIDs showing up. Now if you look around, people are NOT evaporating or puking their guts out because of that.
