Guy grabs $75,000 from Walmart by pretending to be an armored truck employee

I think this guy should be let off the hook. He just asked for money and they gave it to him willingly. The burden of fault is on the nitwit employees.
That isn't even how the guys from Loomis dress.

He was impersonating an employee of a company he was not employed with - fraud if nothing else

he committed a crime, why should he be let off? he robbed a store by disguising as a Loomis worker and took money. just because the employees were incompetent to assure the guy was actually a Loomis employee doesn't mean he should be let off.

He's still impersonating loomis personnel. Plus if there's no consequences for this, I need to try my hand at it because I'm clearly in the wrong business.
Couldn't he have done more to cover his face? Wear sunglasses? Have a thick beard, then shave it?
Hope they find this thief before he goes any further.
Well considering no one got hurt and the balls on this guy, I almost hope he gets away with it... :v:
They ain't getting paid enough for this shit
routine is a bitch
I'd get that if it was Larry arriving at 12:02 every Tuesday, but some random?
Surely someone must have said something.
Still you don't just skip checking someones credentials just because they could fine you that isn't as bad as taking a 75k hit.
This sort of shit happens everywhere and it's just one of the traits of the entire human race.
People rarely question you if you've got the confidence to act like you're doing what you're supposed to be doing.
No one ever expects you to go balls out, walk up and ask for the cash.
What, no identification process or anything?
Did he have some sort of fake badge/ID or did the employees just hand it over no questions asked?
They do carry ID's but since it's a process that happens like 3 times a week, typically with the same courier, many employees stop asking for ID. It's also very likely a manager wasn't even around during the process because stores cut hours down that much. HOWEVER, the loomis employee is supposed to have 1 of the 2 keys required to open the drop box that's inside the safe. Clearly this store didn't have that countermeasure in place.
Amazing, he doesn't even look like an employee of the company. Beige baggy trousers and a 'security' vest? The armored truck guys here always move in pairs and have full company outfits on - basic common sense would make me look at this guy and question him.
He had to have been REALLY good with the lingo and body language to get this done I think.
walmart employees probably didnt give enough of a fuck to bother questioning him
The smoothest heist ever, god damn.
goddamn, the image of him walking out; judging by the timestamp on the pic and the time from the article that means he was in and out in 11 minutes
Honestly people who get away with this shit that should have never happened shouldn't be punished.
If he's a true mastermind, he won't be punished, because he won't get caught.
He got out with the money, but he's on camera, and that's a big no-no.
At my store we have both Brinks and Loomis come by and pick up cash every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. They all wear uniforms with the company name & logo and have ID cards, along with a pistol in a holster attached to their belt. I don't see how this guy could've gotten away with this, and now this store is out $75k because of the employees' incompetency.

Do you know him? Are one of his friends or family going to see the picture and turn him in? If no then he's off the hook for that much.
I know of an ex-bank robber who had a similar tactic to this, and hit at least 3 franchises before he decided to turn himself in years later. He was on all of the cameras, but he didn't have any friends so nobody could ID him, and he only hit places far away from his hometown. Since it wasn't as much moneyas this the police never cared enough to hunt him down further.
This is a shitload of money though, and he's not wearing any gloves in that picture, so unless the money was handed to him by an employee then he might have prints on the safe.
I'd be surprised if Walmart didn't keep track of their cash as well, but I'm not sure if tracking devices are only added by the armored car company. If all that fails they might be able to just track the stolen bills if there's a record of them.
So yea, this guy probably is getting caught, but it's not because of anything he considered.
The Walmart manager and his daughter have been taken into custody. Obviously no one has been convicted of anything but it would be easier to do something like this if you had inside help. What I don't get about this is the amount. $75k would not be enough for me, if I had to split that three ways it's even worse. The amount of prison time they're risking means wait till you can grab $200k-$300k at least!
ill remember that when i just break into a house and steal someone's shit because their front door was unlocked. Idiots should have locked it if they didn't want me to steal.
you rang the bell, they opened and asked nicely for their new TV. They gave it to you and only a couple of hours later they realize you're not the tv pickup guy.
I swear this is an episode of Trailer Park Boys

It is Ricky, Bubbles and Julian actually did this in the movie Countdown to Liquor Day

More or less pretty much what happened.
This sort of stuff could be pulled off at where I used to work. The G4S company here does this money collection thing and every single time the guy would walk in and just be escorted to the safe room and given the money with no real checks at all.
A few times there was a new guy who didn't know where he should wait but the managers still just treated them with a blind eye.
Like it has been said already in the thread, routine is a bitch.
I bet, if brave enough, you could pull this off at many stores and get away with it if slick and fast enough. Especially the larger ones in the UK anyway.
