Pretty cool for like an hour, then you realize despite the fact the game looks pretty as hell it's as depthy as a kid's paddling pool.
Honestly I wish EA never got their hands on Star Wars, I just want a fun new Star Wars game that isn't cut up into chunks. I want to believe that this game will be good but I don't have any faith.
I'd rather have Visceral make a new Dead Space game instead. Not another Star Wars cash grab like Battlefront 3.

paying $120 dollars for a game with as much content as Star Wars Battlefront is just moronic though.
even $60 dollars is too much

From what I understand it's like a $30-40 game at best. It has immense production value in terms of art design but the gameplay brings nothing to the table and has next to no variety.
I'd pay $60 for it if there was more to begin with and they continued adding more for free. Some paid DLC content isn't a big deal (for example, the way BF1942 handled its expansions but also had several free addons).
Honestly just can't be excited when EA are behind the wheel, particularly after what they did to Battlefront
Open World games suck. Especially triple A open world games.

Battlefront 3 may not have been the game you wanted, but it wasn't a cashgrab...
Yall act as if EA was the reason battlefront failed when clearly dice was developing the game????

Believe it or not but big publishers like EA and Ubisoft have a lot of influence over how a game is developed.
Has EA ever done a major open-world game before? There's Bioware games, but their "openness" doesn't extend past a few hub worlds.
They wanted to contract Obsidian to make an elder scrolls competitor once but it fell through. I have a feeling this could be something similar since that formula works so well.
Open world eh? can't wait to liberate Empire outposts and unlock sci-fi radar towers.
That'd be Ubisoft.
With EA and Visceral you're more likely to get something akin to a rail shooter that glitches out 50% of the time

I agree completely but its EA were talking about and modern FPS games have this thing with Season passes that isnt going away.
For a low low price of £49.99 you can get the season pass which will give you 5 new bonus areas to visit! Additional loot and some extra weapons for the inevitable multiplayer we wil try and cram in because every game needs multiplayer!
and then the base game only has 2 areas

it was pretty obvious dice is shitting out really awful games because EA is putting them on a tight release schedule
like, basically all of their studios.
I haven't played a legitimately good Star Wars game since Empire at War, and I'm not hopeful for the future with EA behind the wheel.

Are you implying the game they quickly rushed out to be close to the star wars release date WASN'T a cash grab? Ha don't be silly, EA and disney would never do that.
Believe it or not but big publishers like EA and Ubisoft have a lot of influence over how a game is developed.
THIS! I'd be exited but when the title says "Overlord EA and Slave Viscreal to produce XXXX" It's hard to get exited. When will people realize that games turn out much better when the studio isn't enslaved by a publisher?
Believe it or not but big publishers like EA and Ubisoft have a lot of influence over how a game is developed.
Yeah but it's not like an EA rep is sitting over every programmer or artist and telling them what to put in the game. If the basic gameplay leaves a lot to be desired (like in Battlefront for instance) then it probably started in the conceptual stage. By this point DICE has likely become so used to "Release a shooter every other October" release schedule that they know exactly what hard times they need to hit during development.
Fact is, if we are talking about Battlefront, DICE set out to make a super-casual shooter that lacked depth on purpose. They have said as much already. EA had nothing to do with it.
After the disappointment that was Battlefront, I don't have high hopes for EA publishing another Star Wars title.
you realize that publisher=/=developer

Battlefront was in development since before TFW was even announced.

It literally depends on the studio, Dice is EA's bitch.
So are we just going to constantly get Star Wars games now? Great.
Can't wait to see it be as big as a disappointment as SWTOR was.
Constant? We only had one major star wars title released since Disney/EA's partnership, and we've known since the announcement of the partnership. People gotta complain about everything.
At least there won't be towers that you have to scale to unlock parts of the map with a cut scene that pans out and a gimmicky way to get to the floor

DICE did an incredible job for the time they had to make the game. Why are people insisting Battlefront failed? The game sold well, has a steady rising population on all platforms (XB1 was struggling but their numbers are up significantly, there's Free content including maps already released, ontop of the paid content. The gameplay is very solid for the most part. Battlefront is far a from a failure despite what Gamestop says.
All I want is Imperial Commando, man.
Is that so wrong?

Yes, because when that happen we've completed everything in life and we'll all realize how pointless our lives are now that it exists and nothing else is worth it.

I think he means it failed to meet the expectations of long time Battlefront fans in terms of gameplay and content, not that it was a failure financially.

Shitting out awful games? They released Star Wars this year, which is a fun but somewhat shallow game (though the original Battlefronts were that anyway so I don't see why people are complaining), they released Battlefield 4 two years ago and are still providing new content for it, and they're working on Mirror's Edge which might come out next year but will probably be 2017. How is that "Shitting out really awful games".
I swear some of you people just feel the need to make up shit to complain about. Battlefront isn't the best game ever or anything, it has its fair share of flaws with the progression system, but it isn't awful. It's as mechanically complex as the old games and while many of the design choices are things you don't like it doesn't make them bad.
I think he means it failed to meet the expectations of long time Battlefront fans in terms of gameplay and content, not that it was a failure financially.
Gameplay and content we're solid too. Not much about this game can be considered a failure.

Please, explain to us how Battlefront is an awful game.

Christ, it's like I'm a broken record whenever it comes to this topic.
Battlefront 2, a game from 2005, manages to top EA's Battlefront by miles in all criteria. In short, an installment to the series 10 years ago has three times the content than a new installment. There were more maps, more heroes, more vehicles, etc etc. The gameplay in EA's Battlefront is watered-down to all piss compared to Battlefront 2. There were classes and team communication to induce overall team-work and strategic gameplay. Each team felt unique because of this. From the hours I've spent playing this new Battlefront game, I feel like a generic meat-headed soldier that doesn't feel separate from others. There's no health or ammo management, so there goes any sort of motivation to not run n' gun like a moron because there's no consequence in doing so. Vehicles have been downgraded to powerups, and even then there's not a whole lot of variety in the vehicles to begin with. The hard truth sadly is that everyone would being calling this game garbage if it didn't have Star Wars painted over it.
So please explain to me how all of this is okay and how slapping a $60 price tag + $50 for new 'future' content is okay too.
