Why the hell do people have to do this? They sold it, it is now that person's game, not theirs.
digital copyright doesnt exactly work like the laws for physical things. the developers lose money from this. well, potential profit. but that argument is infinitely more valid when it comes to used games then piracy.
Yeah, everyone should be able to afford $70 games only from chains like Walmart or Best Buy, especially people on a fixed budget who still want to enjoy games too.. wait..
games are 70$ now? the fuck. im too used to pc games on steam, and getting awesome indy titles for under 5$,
For paces like Gamestop game devs still make part of the profit. Reselling used games makes them more money. And plus, even in places that don't give them part of the profit, alot of people still go out and buy DLC again.

Most console games are 60, but the more popular ones are moving up to 70.

Yeah, in Wal-Mart and other super-stores games cost 60-70 dollars. New PC games cost upwards to 50.

this is why we buy games on steam. where only mw2 and super exclusive dlc included game editions are over 50$.

ah yes. dlc. when you cant make money off your game because gamestop keeps reselling the same copy, you can always sell people some dlc.
[editline]11:35AM[/editline]
i remember a time when you could buy a game, and it would be the full game. until an expansion came out or something.
suck a dick THQ. im not buying your games anymore.
i think that's for Europe/Australia/Canada
YOU ARE CHEATING DEVELOPERS OUT OF THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY YOU FUCKING JERKS!
God damn you all!
Because when you buy a used car that cheats a car making company out of selling a brand new car.
HEY GUYS LETS FUCK WITH THE CONSUMERS EVEN MORE BECAUSE WE'RE NOT SWIMMING IN ENOUGH MONEY YET AND FUCKING WITH CONSUMERS WILL PROBABLY HELP.
Dumbfucks.
Why the hell do people have to do this? They sold it, it is now that person's game, not theirs.
I think the concept most software is 'sold' under is licensing. You pay for a license to use it, in other words you don't 'own' anything.
Therefore, in their eyes it's not yours to sell to someone else, you're essentially just renting the software.
um its a used game which means it's been purchased by a previous owner therefore the developer already got full payment
Maybe they should make better games so people wouldn't sell them on in the first place?
Hell yeah, I think you should also not buy used cars, used CD's, used bicycles, used blabla...
They SOLD their product once, whatever happens to the product AFTER they sold it, is out of their hands.
Well, after you've played the game many enough times there's little you can get out of it, but the items you mentioned keep being just as useful.
You cannot enjoy a game infinitely and you could as well sell it away, which leaves you with almost all the money you used for the game but you've enjoyed it.
I don't know what to think of this.
The video game industry is one where completely successful game developers can go under at the drop of a hat. They walk a razor thin line of profit vs development cycle.
Comparing it to other products on the market is like comparing apples to oranges.
Cars wear out. Cars will fail and need to be replaced.
Movies have several chances to make a profit off the same work. The theaters, the DVD, and eventually Television at several different levels. Furthermore the development cycle on a movie is almost universally far smaller than that of a video game and the market is several orders of magnitude larger.
Video games don't really wear out. They have one, maybe two chances to make a profit. And the second chance is only through a massive sale from digital distributors.
I mean jesus, the guys who made darwinia and defcon almost went under a little while back. Both were pretty damn successful games and they aren't THAT old.
keep crying babies
"WE WANT ALl TEH MONIES MWAAAAAAHH"

Introversion nearly went under because they made a load of stupid decisions.
This is idiotic.
I was given Deus Ex. Loved that game. Lost the disc. Couldn't find a new hard copy of the game so I had to pirate it.
Pirating or buying second hand is the same shit, if the money doesn't go to the publisher/developer, it's not a legal purchase.
Well shit guys, it's time to stop calling it gamestop, it's now an underground used game cartel.
I too agree that gamestop is the one that deserves my money for games, and not the people that made the games in the first place.
Is it just me, or does Smackdown vs. Raw sound like some sort of rivalry between butcher shops?
Oh man guys a friend of mine just gave me his old router I'm a fucking pirate.
Can't buy pre-owned PC games, so I could'nt give two shits about this.

But videogames become incompatible with new systems over time.
At $70 for new titles, it's surprising anyone but the wealthy can afford to game. More reasonable prices like $20 relax the consumer and male them more inclined to purchase rather than pirate. Steams done that plenty of times before for me. Why pirate when I can get a game legally, safely, download it at 7 mb/s for a reasonable price whilst still suppourting the developer.

Game development during the past decades:
Price UP, gameplay and lenght DOWN
Really sad.
Greedy bastards.
They did this so their shitty game can't be resold.

yeah, but their logic is that the people who bought it used could have bought it new and the devs would have more money. I still think it's pretty stupid.
I kinda understand the way ME2 did it, with the extra dlc, and you have to pay for it if you got it used, but this takes out a huge part of the game, and I don't think it gives players a chance to buy a code like ME2 did.
