;27370838'] !!!THE USA DOES NOT TORTURE!!! Even if they did it would be for a good reason: To fight terrorism!
You're funny. Every post you make in politically charged threads is always in blind support to stop the forces of 'terrishm'
Good, you reap what you sew and all that shit. Guy was a cocky prick who constantly yelled at the top of his lungs that he's going to change the world and fuck with everyone and ruin everyone with his secrets. Now that he's caught he's realizing yelling at the guy with a knife might not be the best of ideas. Assange is a shit stain, and without him wikileaks will probably be a better place. He isn't the entire site.

It was the media that has been taking a liking to his leaks. Get your shit straight and educate yourself, stop assuming you know the guy's personality without actually doing any actual observing.

Alot of the time he is threatening to change the world if anything happens to him, using government secrets as his own personal shield etc. He's very vocal about his feelings and the fact whenever I hear a comment from him it's something cocky doesn't help.
;27370838'] !!!THE USA DOES NOT TORTURE!!! Even if they did it would be for a good reason: To fight terrorism!
You are unfit for your avatar.
In October 2006, the United States enacted the Military Commissions Act of 2006, authorizing the executive to conduct military tribunals of so-called enemy combatants and to hold them indefinitely without judicial review under the terms of habeas corpus. Testimony coerced through humiliating or degrading treatment would be admissible in the tribunals. Amnesty International and numerous commentators have criticized the Act for approving a system that uses torture
also a lot of people consider solitary confinement torture which the US also uses.
Why would Julian Assange get the penalty? He merely represents a website that leaked the documents. He didn't acquire the documents himself. He didn't hack into the government databases and steal them. Those where probably done by people that are already dead. The US Government is a fucking joke.
Assange's the one with the agenda.
The problems with governments are that they are separated from the people. The government is property of the people, not the other way around....
If he's killed, he'll be hailed as a martyr by journalists and free speech activists everywhere. But doesn't he still have that "Insurance" leak file somewhere, or has that been blown open already?
fixed the title up a smidge. Not sure why I didn't earlier.
I can't wait until all of the old senile politicians die off or retire and we finally get a new generation of smarter, more logical, and more technologically informed politicians.
Won't happen. Our generation, while newer, is still very naive and ignorant. The sensible people will either never get into politics or get corrupted.
Even if they do something to Assange-- wouldn't it still continue to happen? Wouldn't leaks still continue to appear on the internet for us all to see? Sure, some secrets do need to be kept for the lives of people at stake. But what about the secrets that show that lives are being taken with no reward except for sick enjoyment (a la bradley manning case.) Lets be honest. We, the people, have been jerked and fucked by the higher up's in this world, quietly, secretly, without repercussions. And only now are these secrets wriggling their way out of the framework and into the eyes of the public. There is undoubtedly something fundamentally wrong with some of the secrets that are kept from the public.
You sound like the next stalin or lenin or some shit.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12159198 Doubt it, but I can see him going to Guantanamo Bay if he is renditioned.
I thought it was closed.
fixed the title up a smidge. Not sure why I didn't earlier.
Thank you, I hate misleading titles
This is just wrong. The government should not be allowed to jail over releasing secret documents, in fact they shouldn't have them in the first place.
This won't look good on the US at all, government being the bottom of the food chain. Then again, I really don't like it here either... Want to move to Britian... Fuck this country.
This is just wrong. The government should not be allowed to jail over releasing secret documents, in fact they shouldn't have them in the first place.
Actually they should.
This is just wrong. The government should not be allowed to jail over releasing secret documents, in fact they shouldn't have them in the first place.
Yep, people should just be allowed to take and publish classified documents at will. People seem to forget that some shit is meant to be classified. Transparency is nice, but there is shit the government does that is supposed to be kept under wraps.
he hasnt published any classified documents
He shouldnt get in trouble for exposing corruption or war crimes.
he hasnt published any classified documents
wikileaks contains only facts widely regarded as common knowledge
[sluggo]'s post and avatar combination is starting to make me hate Einstein's face. Whenever people have a person's face as an avatar whenever they say stupid shit I associate it with that avatar. Like seriously the posts are so retarded I feel like punching my monitor and I'm not just talking about this thread. [editline]13th January 2011[/editline] It's not just the content but the way he structures his posts makes me rage. I don't even care if he is a troll pretending to be retarded or is actually retarded but he's making me hate Einstein's face and that's not right.
shit will go down
Most of the shit wikileaks "leaked" were already public, it's just no one picked up on the stories until wikileaks posted it
Oh good god they're not going to kill him, but he will definitely be detained. The only reason he's saying that he fears the death penalty is because it looks more dramatic to his followers.
US government kills a guy for telling the people what their "we the people" government is actually doing and how they're all a bunch of pricks giving our country a bad name and continuing to make poor decisions as a reflection of the government we "elected." Nice.
Even after the title is changed people still can't read shit.
Bout to say something but you beat to it. I think it's been said several times throughout this thread that Assange and his Lawyers fear he'll get the death penalty. The US has not threatened him with anything. Can we have bad reading back now?
if he dies hell be a martyr. someone else will take his place.
Is it just me or is anyone thinking this entire thing of Julian Assange would make a great plot of a modern war game? You know, Europe gets angry and them and the US duke it out.
