I could write a goddamn essay on this.
Look at how religion has crippled societies of people into believing they must shower religious institutions into believing that they must pay for their way into heaven. (Roman Empire & reformation) -This was caused by the institutions lieing to the people, saying that they must pay, quite literally, a death tax for their loved ones so their way to heaven was clear. It was total bullshit, and it was kept a secret until-- Low and behold, a really religious guy (Kind of a douchebag, in a way, because he still believed a lot of religious stuff) Martin Luther (a monk. Not the black guy), seized the power of the Printing Press (Mass information, similar to internet) and fucking told everyone about the Catholic Church fucking them over. It caused the reformation.
Yes, the reformation from Catholicism to Martin luther and the birth of Protestantism is very different when you compare it to Assange and Wikileaks-- but the mediums in which they essentially dispelled lies is exceptionally similar. They used mass information spreading, whether through printed text on leaflets, or through the internet.
What exactly does this article have to do with your blind hatred of religion?
I'm against (Edit: releasing some of the things...) wikileaks (...has released) but this is a bit too far. Even incarceration is.
This is so fucking stupid. They would basically kill him for their mistakes.
Uhmmm, could've sworn I heard something similar once, about some dude--Wait, I remember now!
Assange = Jeebus?
:iiam:

Sometimes a government needs to get dirty to get things done. It's better that the public doesn't know about it.
What exactly does this article have to do with your blind hatred of religion?
Did you read what I said? It's the manner in which the medium is parallel in how they fueled a social revolution, which I think wikileaks is totally capable of doing.
I explained how the subject is different. Read what I fucking said, and pick up a history book.
21st Century = Internet
Late medieval society = Anton Gutenberg's printing press
And I don't have a blind hatred of religion. I understand that its values are good, but the way it preaches values through mythical stories is not. Assange fights corrupt governments and corporations, neither of which were strong in late medieval society.. Back then, all the power was to the church. That's what I'm getting at.
Also, late medieval religion WAS fucking terrible. They totally manipulated people.
capitalism has nothing to do with this. Why do people use this as some kind of hot button go to word.
This is actually the first time I have used the word in the context of something from the USA. The cables that were uncovered from diplomatic and military are all dependent on money from the goverment. If they are given a bad reputation, founding might not be as high as before, resulting in people getting fired and more. This is why I mentioned capitalism, I.E people in high power are afraid of something might happen.
Such is the way of the foul coward. When their bad plans are revealed, they demand the head of the one who tore away the veils of deceit.
If anything there should be fires outside the White House right now, but of course everybody's too lazy and too cowardly to act against the one who holds their leash, and they can't figure out that even though they can't move away from the walker, they can still move close enough to bite the walker on the leg.
i hope he diessss

Strangely similar to how nobody reacted to Nazi Germany when it got out of hand.
"Well.. at least I'm not jewish. so I guess I'm okay." -Average german citizen during Nazi Reign

This article is about Julian Assange and whether or not he will be extradited/face the death penalty. Neither social revolutions nor religion is included anywhere in it.
That's absurd.
Also governmental secrets are secrets for a reason. Wrong or not, they are kept secrets for a reason.
And what is the reason for a video of the US killing the journalists being secret?

Julian Assange - Leader of wikileaks
Wikileaks related thread.
Wikileaks related post..
I guess I'll snip all my po-- Wait a second, you're not a moderator.
I highly doubt this is even close to "likely"
I highly doubt this is even close to "likely"
Well, even if it was likely.. Doesn't the death penalty only work if you're a citizen. How can they put a death penalty on someone who isn't even an American citizen? That doesn't really make much sense to me. Who is knowledgeable about international law?
I highly doubt this is even close to "likely"
Seeing as how you got big fat text read: Pshycic, I believe you :3:

I like that you ignore the fact that as a super power with military troops stationed everywhere, people have a right to question the biggest government in the world along with the single most influencing country ever.
The US is no better than Iran to be honest. Their law systems are both completely backwards.
he deserves some community service or something but not death
Wikileaks' Julian Assange cleans up garbage to repay the community for endangering national security.
[editline]11th January 2011[/editline]
America, and most 'free' nations do not have a justice system. They have a legal system loosely based on the morals and ideals of justice, but there is a bubble in between where corruption and puppetry takes place to shape our laws.
Okay
So his lawyer makes a statement saying he may face the death penalty in a blatant attempt to gain support to stop him being extradited and everyone starts interpreting it as "He is definately going to face the death penalty"
Calm down people

Maybe they're afraid they'd see more of your terrible attempts at sounding profound.

Are you confusing capitalism with government spending? Because that's what it sounds like.
US government needs to just fuck off really! if they don't like they're dirty little secrets ( which should be publicly know anyway ) getting out they should do a better job of covering them.
Or they shouldn't lie in the first place. Too bad there are too many high-ranking liars to avoid that. The world would be a better place if people could appreciate honesty more. :frown:
Whoa, death penalty? Murderers get off for less.
Anyway, it's probably just his lawyer trying get people to sympathize and support him. I really doubt he will get death.
