Better idea, be honest with your people and tell them what you're doing.
Suddenly no leaks, and you are finally a good transparent government.
But that would be the honest thing to do - and we all know that profit is generally inversely related to honesty (i.e. less honesty = more profit).
He knew what he was doing and what could be consequences if he got caught. When your thinking on bringing down the superpowers of the world they arn't going to be like "Oh, were just going to put you in jail for a few years."
What happened to the liberty and freedom that America used to stand for?
Couldn't you see the founding fathers scoffing at the government today?
Where does it say that he's "likely" to face the death penalty?
From what I read he THINKS he's likely to face the death penalty. Sounds like he's just being paranoid.
All I read was a bunch of speculation.

I think I saw the statue of George Washington cry a little.

But he's not trying to bring down any superpowers.

So spilling out the secrets of huge countries like the U.S.A. isn't trying to bring them down. Oh wait you were going to say that, he was just trying to let everything be more transparent in countries. Thats fine and dandy because I'm for that, but in the eyes of those countries it looks like to them he trying to bring them down to ground.
silly US government, I don't think you realize how much support this man has. If he somehow disappears or is killed there will be mass protests, and maybe even riots.
Also, Sweden... please stop being the US's bitch!
Remember who you are! :sweden:
Don't worry, at the last minute Finland launches a large military operation dubbed as "military exercise" and annex Sweden, free Assange, and with that they just go back home and tell the world they were drunk last night.
"Let's kill someone else because it was our fault!".
I doubt this will happen, if it gets that way I hope there is some kind of mass protest/coup
wikileaks fags are crying right now.
So when's the password released?
Strangely similar to how nobody reacted to Nazi Germany when it got out of hand.
"Well.. at least I'm not jewish. so I guess I'm okay." -Average german citizen during Nazi Reign
This thread seems to be full of people who just read the title and ran from there. Nowhere in that article is there any evidence of him possibly getting the death penalty. He speculates that he might and his lawyer speculates that the US might do such and such.
Nothing is going to happen. People need to stop jumping the "Fuck the US" bandwagon.

You're assuming that most of hte people who have read this thread don't know about the story of wikileaks, which in fact, most of us do. I think it isn't as much a bandwagon as it is a reaction to all the ridiculous negative notions continuously spawned by the government as a reaction to his actions. Yes this is from Assange, and yes he could jsut be paranoid. But there's a reason why he is being paranoid, look at all the strings that have been pulled internationally as a result.

How can you be sure that nothing is going to happen? Something surely has happened to Bradley Manning, why wouldn't something happen to Assange

You guys seriously didn't expect this?
A dumbass once said that no one cares about wikileaks other than the us government and European people.
and anti America /b/ kiddies
Because you have to be a /b/ kiddie in order to establish that some 'secret' footage of war crimes perpetrated by the supported government should indeed be hidden.
The US Government cannot kill Julian Assange without a big shit storm happening, it won't happen.
What happened to the liberty and freedom that America used to stand for?
Internment camps? Alien and sedition acts? Jim Crow laws?

Like you have to be /b/astard to have something against America.
You are not even trying

Like they give a fuck. They're a massive organization. One man won't make a difference, and the outcry won't do shit for either side since they still have other people working on the leaks and the american government still has the power.
