Wikileaks' Julian Assange fears he may face US death penalty
Starpluck, this misleading title led the anti-US brigade to comment without even reading the damn article. Nowhere does it state that the US is looking to extradite and try him, and it especially doesn't state they are looking for a death penalty. All you have are the paranoid ramblings of a guy who already fears every form of government.
The least you could do is use the BBC's original title: Wikileaks' Julian Assange 'fears US death penalty'
I just had a flash of my high school history class....Wait what?
I think this is solid proof that Assange is a Liberal nutjob who is literally insane.
I don't think he's insane. I just think that this little bit of "power" went straight to his head. All of this bullshit about an "insurance file" if he's killed or imprisoned makes him sound more like a comic book supervillain than some sort of free speech hero.
True the banking system can crush some people, true they supply those easy loans and credit cards, but who is the one that goes on shopping sprees and buys hummers and jewelry? I agree that the banking system could be better, but people need to have good saving and spending habits as well.
Is it just me, or does this thread prove no one reads the posted story? The only one who is making claims that he could be renditioned and executed is Assange's lawyer, who even pull the buzzword "Guantanamo Bay". This story is entirely unbelievable, and highly unlikely.
Julian Assange doesn't deserve it, but I'm not sure whether to think he has a sort of "Doomsday" File, I honestly don't think he does, but the Americans do, obviously why they're reacting like a fucking baby in a candy shop.
The title led me to believe he could face the death penalty not that he fears he will.
You guys are ABSOLUTELY right! We should reveal all the government's secrets worldwide! That will show those puppets who's boss! Hey I got another idea, how bout we make all those nasty nuclear launch codes public?! No more hiding things from us you government pigs! Who cares if its not our secrets to give away? Who cares if we aren't even citizens of those countries? Who cares if it does more harm than good? We deserve to know the truth!
Sarcasm aside, come on, did you really think he would get off scad free? Its neither his information to give, nor is he a citizen of the nation's whose secrets he made public. Secondly, I see you all talking as though this is gonna be some massive revolution, yet I bet if Julian put a rifle in your hands this minute and told you to charge the "puppets" line, you wouldn't be so cocky. Third, what do you think this will change? Do you think that people will have more freedom? Do you think the world will be at peace? If anything, revealing this kind of information would turn allies against each other, destroy any attempts at diplomacy, and possibly throw us into another world war, figuratively speaking of course. Sure we citizens have a right to know what our government is doing behind our backs, but the time must be right, during an anti-terrorism campaign is not the best time to be throwing secret documents into the public realm of the internet, where psychopaths and teenagers with too much time on their hands can get them. Well that's my bit said, probably a bit long but I felt it had to be said. In closure, good day to you sirs, good luck with your new world order and whatnot.
Y'know, long time ago, a guy had a way of seeing things somewhat similar to Julian (as a matter of fact, Julian's pretty much ripping him off). A guy who considered honesty and truth as _Really_ important values (mainly because his religion demanded it), just like you americans think "freedom" is something important...
it was Xerxes's father, Darius The Great. He established a wave of government reforms to combat corruption on a scale that half of the governments today don't bother with. With all the various regions of the empire under the control of local governors, Darius started a system of royal inspectors/hall-monitors so that no one guy could let his own douchebaggery run wild.
Of course, Julian may or may not have the political power Darius had back then, but they both share some of the same principles, honesty and truth.

Why would I rate a post artistic when it's not artistic? Doesn't make sense does it? I was making a joke at your expense.

referring to the article; i believe a transparent government would never work but what's going on right now is pretty fucked up
referring to the article; i believe a transparent government would never work
Sure it can. Read my previous post.
Sounds like irrational nonsense to me. I highly doubt anything in that article will happen.
It's no wonder people support Julian. Look at the way governments around the world react to him. I don't give a fuck what's been leaked so far. I have no reason to see it actually causing deaths, really, it's shown deaths we didnt know about. Thats the biggest kicker for me.
Wikileaks is the ultimate whistleblower. It's badass. Plain and simple. Of course its going to harness support from the people that are sitting here, living this life, unsatisfied with the things that go on around them. Unsatisfied from the tax-funded secrets that dance around foreign nations.
This isn't a big deal. Assange isn't even a major part of the leaks, he volunteered to take all the media and damage to keep the rest of the WikiLeaks team safe.
And of course a transparent government would never work, but I don't support the current American government's actions. We need to do something radical and new. Carrying on as if 1 billion people in this world aren't starving is just stupid.
All our food is imported from all over the world.. But yet some places can't seem to get those imports. Its fucked. Sure, you can close your eyes and ride the bandwagon. But he's promoting change, and you fucking know it. He isn't introducing political policies you don't agree with, he's showing you the political policies you don't agree with.
And of course a transparent government would never work...
I'm speaking from a radical standpoint because i'm on an internet forum. I can say what I want without breaking the rules and the only thing I can suffer from is a bad rating here or there. We're supposed to have liberal opinions here. Because at the end of the day, it's all text that only exists to a small percentage of gamers that play garrysmod. It all exists on a screen.
lol No. You need to sort out your facts, boy.
That's all you've been saying throughout this thread. Care to provide some evidence for your side, or are you just going to whine and whine about dem evil liberal commies some more?

If you want to live in a world where you pay fifteen quid for a plastic cup because your poor fragile feelings can't handle the stress of knowing a kid in China made it or that that you dislike the idea that your life is being controlled or maybe because you just want to lie the fuck down and smoke some weed then go live in Africa. I feel safe with my government controlling my every move and protecting me like a mother protects her child. I like to live ignorantly and happily. There's a reason the government keeps those files super secret.
Also, history doesn't repeat itself. Go agree with communism or something lol.

Nice snip you've done there, bud... you still fail, though.
Rape women, murder children, rape and murder children? Life in prison at worst.
Publish information about a country that prides itself on its freedom of speech while its being ran by a president who campaigned for a "transparent office"? Death sentence.
