Which is fucking stupid at this point; Are two virtual dogs humping, a shot of a character holding a bong, and a few police chases really going to fuck up all their pre-orders and sales, TWO days before release?? Whats the big deal with Video Game companies not wanting to share information pre-release? In my mind, it would make sense to shrug off the occasional leak; it gets people more excited, and if fans don't like a specific feature, you know before its even on the streets. Giving you a head-start on fixing/changing the issue at hand. But withholding all information until release feels like a scam-job to me... "I'm selling this brown bag that is full of something mysterious! You know the size, that it smells like shit, and that its in a brown colored bag; but that is all we're going to tell you! First you must give me $25.00 and wait until September 15th, only then can you open it up and find out whats inside!" Either way, early or late, we're all going to find out its just shit in a bag.
He leaked a video which is believed to be from the first mission where it shows [sp]Trevor in a mission in snow, maybe North Yankton which was rumored to be in?[/sp]
I know he was dumb and all... but i don't see how he deserves to be banned from xbox live. He got the game, he plays it. He didn't hack xbox live or anything. If he stole it from a facility then this is a police case, but i don't see how this has anything to do with xbox live. What if i had a time machine and came back from the future with a legit copy of GTA VI, should i be banned? :(
He broke 5 policies and terms of service for leaking game content. He would have been fine if he didn't leak any data.
He leaked a video which is believed to be from the first mission where it shows [sp]Trevor in a mission in snow, maybe North Yankton which was rumored to be in?)[/sp]
That still doesn't explain anything. Why is this bad for the game and the development community? Why is it seen so negatively that they are willing to permanently ban people and their accounts for eagerly enjoying something they happened to get their hands on first? (stepping outside of the Violation of the terms of usage. That I understand on Microsoft's side.) So what if One or Two people get the game early and post some videos. It's free publicity. You know thousands and thousands are going to try and tune into their streams/videos and to view their pictures. How does a leak destroy or compromise a game's release? I just don't understand. Edit: And "Piracy" is irrelevant because it will happen regardless of an early leaked release or not. One pirated release won't bring Rockstar's profits to its' knees. The company already made its original investment back on pre-orders ALONE.

Edit: And he could have avoided being banned by simply staying offline and posting the videos with anomity without showing your xbox live id.
Also it's not like he pirated the game so the companies aren't losing any money with him posting some small snippets of the game
Because this
No offense, but somehow I doubt Rockstar would care if someone ran around screaming about how the game ended. It would affect a VERY minute percentage of the overall population who is buying the game. "Oh but they can make videos and share them on Youtube.." Here's a thought, don't want to be spoiled? DON'T WATCH THE VIDEOS. Even if I knew how the final mission went down in GTA V, I would STILL buy the game and play it endlessly for hours straight, just like I did in IV. The ending is irrelevant. Who honestly plays GTA for the ending? Besides, if i'm not mistaken, the biggest draw has been the new Multiplayer mode. Which isn't even playable/out nor will be on its' release. So what does the game lose in all this publicity? And I bring all this up because months ago, i recall Rockstar making a statement about how they would be super anal about early releases and leaked information. Having invested into a game such as Star Citizen, where just about every bit of development information is shared and debated with the community, It just doesn't make sense. To me its like them saying "Well, we're not sure everyone will be 100% happy with our product, so we're witholding all information and details about it until everyone gets it at once. That way, even if they are disappointed, we still have everyone's money." Here's a solution; DON'T MAKE A SHIT GAME! /rant [sp] I feel like this exact scenario is the problem that we're all seeing with huge development companies such as EA, TakeTwo, Activision, etc. etc. They make a sub-par quality game, because they're dry on ideas and motivation, only in it for the money, and then hide it all from the public with a HUGE veil of hype- then perform what equates to highway robbery. 'Don't like it? Ohh- Too bad. Well thanks for your money, and maybe we'll make Dead Space 4 [or insert any other EA sequel title here] the game you want.[/sp]
Because this
stories are about the journey and not large events, and there's studies that show spoilers increase the enjoyment of things.
for many, getting your xbox banned is a worse fate than death
Buy the Xbox One if you want access to Xbox Live again! Rather buy a gun and stick it in my mouth [editline]12th September 2013[/editline]
stories are about the journey and not large events, and there's studies that show spoilers increase the enjoyment of things.
I'm sure knowing Vader was Luke's father before seeing Star Wars totally increased the enjoyment of that moment
are those two dogs humping next to franklin
A worthy sacrifice if not for that picture alone.
stories are about the journey and not large events, and there's studies that show spoilers increase the enjoyment of things.
It's still the matter of principle. You don't want to be waiting outside at a midnight release only for some jackass to drive by and spoil the entire game for you.
stories are about the journey and not large events, and there's studies that show spoilers increase the enjoyment of things.
I got Sons of Anarchy spoiled for me and I am legitimately the saddest person on the face of the planet so I dunno what study you were lookin' at, sir

The handling looks like shit.
The handling looks like shit.
sports car shitty 5-10 second videos And you're going to make a conclusion from that
sports car shitty 5-10 second videos And you're going to make a conclusion from that
Yeah. Videos of something happening generally are a good place to make conclusions of said thing happening.
You can adjust the traction however you want in V, whoever was driving had a max driving skill and was using a fully modded sports car
Kinda bummed they have (seemingly) toned the dynamic damage down a lot.
theme sounds like shit
Yeah. Videos of something happening generally are a good place to make conclusions of said thing happening.
Without getting a feel for it yourself, no it isn't.
The handling looks like shit.
Here's a good reason why publishers don't want their games leaked, PvZ avatar guy. People's pre-release opinions will be skewed and shit by these videos. It's bad for business if people judge a possibly incomplete or buggy game before it hits the shelves.

Not much that can happen unless it's bug ridden and they plan to have a huge day one patch.
This is not some obscure pre-alpha. This is gold version a bit of time before release. Not much that can happen unless it's bug ridden and they plan to have a huge day one patch.
For all we know there might very well be a day one patch.
For all we know there might very well be a day one patch.
I like the leaks, he doesn't spoil anything just shows off some game mechanics. The only part he spoiled is the first mission, which who really cares its most likely a tutorial.
Xbox bans you for early copies.
I really hate Xbox's policy on early copies, if someone got one legitimately good for them. They don't deserve a ban
Kinda bummed they have (seemingly) toned the dynamic damage down a lot.
Someone did the same test in GTA IV, a head on collision like that pretty much had as much destruction on a Sabre GT as the one in V did
