All threads about religion turn to shit.
This one was no exception.
Not really no. Also, didn't christians used to burn people at the stake if they didn't believe in God? Oh right.. they did. Even the wrong god got you killed. Where's your superiority now...?
no, that was if they thought you were a witch.
basically if they didn't like you, you were a witch. and also if you didn't at least convert to Christianity, they claimed it was because you were a witch or sold your soul to the devil. this was a very very long time ago, of course.

much akin to the red scare of the 50s

well and late 1910s to 1920
50% of Britons are atheists.
That's why we're so pro.
Sweden is like 80-90% though, fuckin crazy awesome.
Because it totally matters what someone's religion is.
Anddddd this is why america should still be classed as a developing country.

And why the fuck wasn't Religulous considered "too contreversal"?
This is America, goddammit! We agree to disagree! Our country is based around freedom of speech! why the fuck isn't this allowed? This is a slap to the face to the founders of the USA. Someone doesn't get to express themselves because some immature fuck doesn't know how to respond to advancing science. Give me a break.
Because it totally matters what someone's religion is.
Yeah, it actually does when a majority of the population believes in fairy tales, and it affects their actions like when they're voting, etc.

Where is your proof for your claim? It's nothing more than speculation unless you provide some sort of source.
People need to learn how to view things in a secular fashion.
Compare this to The Passion which is 3 hours of goreporn and it gets rated G.
'Twas rated R, mate.
Fuck, it's like the whole "world is flat" thing in the past, we look back at that and say "How can people be so stupid, good thing we aren't like that now?" and yet they still do. Fuck, I'm a Christian, but it's right there, and saying that it's not is just stupid. Shit like this just pisses me off.

You may as well say "Because I said so"
failed to find a US distributor because his theory of evolution is too controversial for American audiences

Bullshit.
Yeah, 'cuz, y'know, there isn't a billion other 230% more controversial movies out there. They're just whining because no one likes their crappy show.
Or this whole thing was made up in the first place.

Fairy-tale books :D
I asked a Christian what happens if he was born into a family of Hindus and never heard of Christianity; he said he would still be Christian.

That's like saying "I never heard of TV's, but my favorite show is Top Gear."
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
So much for free speech, first the Muhammad drawings and now this?
You might want to re-read the article, I don't remember it saying that congress passed a law against this movie.
Holy shit, i jsut googled, darwin was a christian for a while, then agnostic.

You are so dumb. The government has nothing to do with this.
Lets say I own a company. I manufacture pencils. One day, a man comes up with the idea to make red pencils instead of yellow. I don't like it, so I say no. So now all red pencil lovers in the U.S.A., england, and beyond cry and say that the American government is evil and all that.

Just goes to show who everyone idolises.
Do you spell idolises with a z or s?
I've always thought that was weird. We Americans also idolize our founding fathers even though they were into slavery and the whole lot.

Yeah, I always thought of that. That's why my favorite pres was Lincoln and my fav Commander in Cheif was Washington.
What about Canada? I don't think we would pull a movie for being controversal.
No but you guys pulled killzone 2 ads cause they were scary.

I find it funny that people act like government barred it from being released. The reason it's having trouble is that it's hard to find a producer who thinks it will do well when america is so anti evolution right now on the religious side of the country.

The only thing Britain has done better than the USA, man I hate religion.
