I love how much fuss people make. This will make barely any difference whatsoever for most purchases, but once it all adds up it will make the government a fair bit of money. Fuckin tories! and all they're we only give a shit about the rich and ourselves shit!
Oh god that entire 2% extra will really fuck you in the ass.

That's only like £1 per component or so. How about everyone gets a brain for themselves rather than jumping on the "FUKIN TORIES ONLY GOOD TO RICH PPL" bandwagon. We have a defecit which needs to be dealt with, we can't just go on as we have done. David Cameron himself said it would be hard, but neccessary. There's no point in pretending nothing's wrong and living above our standards and then being fucked in the ass by a collosal defecit which would be impossible to pay back. We need to make these cuts and tax increases for the long term good. (If only everyone voted UKIP like me, then we'd have left the EU and would save £48 million a day)
Welcome to my world. You guy's still have 1% less VAT then us. But we can't skive off of the northys as much during Christmas anymore now.
That's intense. Where I am in the USA, taxes are only 6 percent.
Enjoy your lack of free healthcare/other services.
(If only everyone voted UKIP like me, then we'd have left the EU and would save £48 million a day)
Tbh I'd be fucked because then we'd lose our European rights of work and I doubt the Tories would like to see good rights for working class people.
Luckily anything I'd like to buy from a shop, my dad can put it on his company's bill and that means we don't have to pay tax.

they should take the money from the rich bank owners and the politicians should get paid far less.
Make a carpet from toilets rolls, a sofa from tampons. Sorted.
I had an urge to make that in Gmod when I read it. Anyway, when does this come into effect?
Latvia has a VAT of 21%, sucks major balls.
florida doesn't have a personal income tax :smug:
Anyway, when does this come into effect?
I assume in January, like the article states.
VAT is to rise from 17.5% to 20% in January
Really the only thing that pisses me off most about this budget is that they're scrapping the tax relief for the games industry. If it wasn't bad enough that developers are jumping ship, or just completely avoiding Britain all together, and moving to Canada and the far East; now the only glimmer of hope that would make this country just a little bit more attractive is gone because the government thinks a billion pound industry was "poorly targeted" in the last budget.
I was happy with the budget to day, I am a Tory supporter however I was worried about the budget as I did think it would just take us back into economic downfall, I agree with the majority of it. I mean it’s not a "nice" budget but it had to be done. I think the Lib dem input help this out a great deal. Also they decided not to put up tax on cider, which I am very happy about.

It's a good move really. You'll only pay more for luxuries, so there's nothing really to complain about. So begins the steady climb out of debt. And who knew Labout spent (£140 million?) on a 'Euro transition department'? How the fuck did they ever think that was a good idea, and what else did they spend the money on? VAT isn't on EVREYTHING you buy. Things like butter and eggs don't have VAT on them, and it wasn't until this budget I realised how lucky we were with 17.5%. The rest of Europe has been above 20% for years. I think only Romania and Malta are lower now.
Is VAT pretty much just GST(Goods and Services Tax)? Cause in NZ ours is only 12.5%
I was watching the news and they were saying how it would affect normal people. They used a working class mother as an example and this is what they said: "Thanks to the budget, Mrs Smith will be £20 worse off by the end of the year" oh no
americans how the hell do you have 6% VAT that's impossible how does the government sustain itself
americans how the hell do you have 6% VAT that's impossible how does the government sustain itself
there's many reasons. normally I'd make some comment about not buying duck houses with government money, but there's really almost as much misuse of funds in america as there is there.
I think the benefits cut was necessary, I was bordering unemployment with a job because the job was part time I could earn almost the same if not more money by being unemployed with the benefits but not anymore.
americans how the hell do you have 6% VAT that's impossible how does the government sustain itself
This was already answered earlier in the thread. We just have loads of taxes on other things.
americans how the hell do you have 6% VAT that's impossible how does the government sustain itself
The US government doesn't sustain itself. It borrows money from other nations and then doesn't pay them back. Look at their deficit. That's not sustenance.
