Lesbian kicked off Southwest Airline flight for kissing her girlfriend

I Really want to hear the other side of the story, because a good portion of the time the "victim" is exaggerating (see incidents like the wall street riots)
basically what southwest did is kind of like kicking someone off for speaking arabic because it made people awkward
they could have made the choice not to kiss just like someone could make the choice not to speak arabic on a plane but they shouldn't have to
Southwest has a lot of gay employees... There was a show that was primarily about them but documented the workings of the airports and the airline and how it deals with people and one of the guys that was featured on the show quite a bit was gay.... And I remember he wiped shit off this old guy in a wheelchair at the airport, gave him some new clothes, before putting him on his flight
Anyway, Southwest is one of the best airlines to fly... It's cheap, and they have one of the best safety records, I think they've had ONE fatality, ever, and it was a 6 year old in a car on a highway after the plane slid off an iced runway
Most people who are actually adults don't care for it
actually i think most people who are adults and are not socially retarded don't really notice or care about people kissing in public. i don't get people who are bothered by it, do they see it and just can't look away???

Am I really the only one who thinks this story is more than a little bit one sided?

it's weird to see the 'i'm not against *minority group* i have lots of *minority group* friends!' cop out applied to a company.

humans interacting in public.... WHY CAN'T THEY JUST BE LISTENING TO A MP3 PLAYER AND LOOKING AT THEIR FEET OR READING A BOOK AND NOT LOOKING OR TALKING TO ANYONE LIKE A NORMAL PERSON
no mp3 players
i know what kids these days listen to
godless music

i agree it's a bit one sided, but i can't really think of what the other side can really be unless rather than kissing in public they were full on necking, groping breasts maybe tearing each others clothes off... maybe mud was involved??? i guess that would be justifiable reason to kick them off.

well if they got mud all over the plane that could be a problem
I firmly support banning mud from planes
last time I checked there's lots of people that don't like it, but if you say so
I'm with you, people kissing in public is silly. A peck on the cheek/lips and an affectionate hug is fine, lovely in fact, its just when the faces start to merge is when I get creeped out by it.
And you know this wouldn't make it on the news at all if this were a straight person.
And you know this wouldn't make it on the news at all if this were a straight person.
yeah, because it wouldn't have happened.

oh my he's creeped out

bring out the caution tape we need to block off this area lest he be creeped out some more
please everyone move back Clunj is creeped out

don't look??? wtf you don't have to look at people kissing you realize? heck most people who kiss probably DON'T want you glaring at them awkwardly

especially on a family air line! children running around everywhere they could slip on the mud
you have the right to feel awkward about it but your first post pretty much blatantly said that southwest is okay for kicking off people for kissing (before your edit)
that's why myself and others jumped on you
I worded it poorly I guess, and it wasn't my point at all.
People can do whatever the fuck the want as long as it doesn't affect me actively in any way.
I'm not gonna flip a shit just because I don't feel completely comfortable with something.

I can imagine the woman getting extremely upset at being asked to stop, because many people flip out about more simple things than that. I really have a hard time believing this was just over descrimination.
A. The article only tells us the bad things the stewardess says. Obviously there was a fair bit of conversation, but we are only shown the parts that are seemingly offensive.
B. Southwest wants to make money. Any retard can see how much bad PR they would get if this was actually how it happened.
C. I would think more than one person would make the decision about when to kick some one off, and I have a hard time believing it was a plane crewed by fundamentalists who take such things more seriously than their jobs.
And you know this wouldn't make it on the news at all if this were a straight person.
Yeah, if they were straight it wouldn't have been an issue in a first place.
Not to mention heterosexual couples aren't currently fighting for the right to be recognized in a legal partnership, or accepted into society as normal people free of stereotypes and social stigmata.

i think it's a problem they were asked to stop in the first place.
A. if there are offensive parts, what does it matter if there were parts that aren't offensive?
B. looking at their track record i'd disagree with that, remember when they kicked kevin smith off for not buying 2 tickets?
C. and i think they only need the captains permission to kick someone off.

wrong again! it's a well known fact that FAR more discrimination happens to heterosexuals, it just never gets reported because the media HATES heterosexuals because it's controlled by the homosexual hollywood agenda
I don't like seeing people kissing in public overall.
Why? I love seeing it. People being happy and all, enjoying themselves. Makes me happy.
why would you punish LESBIANS for KISSING
doesn't make sense

A. I don't even know if that makes sense. We have no idea if the "victim" started throwing a fit, or saying unreasonable things. We only see the things the stewardess said that can be construed as offensive.
B. I thought facepunch unanimously agreed kevin smith deserved to be kicked off because he legitimately took up two seats. And regardless, southwest airlines is NOT a charity service. They want your money, and if this story has occured EXACTLY how the victim says it has, the stewardess and at least some of the crew will undoubtably be fired.
C. Ok. I really, really doubt the captains would be ok for kicking some one off on the grounds of lesbianism.

a. getting pissed off about being told to stop kissing your loved one is reasonable, telling someone to stop kissing their loved one and kicking them off a plane for said kissing is not.
b. ok i'm just saying, clearly they would have known that would be bad pr though?
c. captains aren't suddenly paragons of tolerance, i recall a story about a captain refusing to fly because their were muslims on board?
They just didn't want to clean the white stains on all the seats after people started watching.
I'd like to see if it was really that inappropriate. Btw, this airline is their airline. The planes are private property. The airline has as much right to put dress codes, behaviour rules and kcik you out, just like a restaurant.

I remember this old article where a white pilot wouldn't fly the plane because one afircan American was on the plane. Wow.
Look, I'll admit that this may not have happened if it was a straight couple. But it seems to me that things went down as follows:
1. The two start kissing. One of the staff notices, and asks if they wouldn't mind not doing that. This does not necessarily mean the other staff were offended, only that the particular member of staff was.
2. She flips her shit and screams persecution, annoying everyone on the plane. She is, at this point, being noisy and obnoxious.
3. The staff have her removed because she was disturbing the other passengers, not because she was kissing.
That's what I reckon happened. I mean, kissing's fine and all, but apparently some people get wigged out by it, so it would make sense for someone to ask her to stop. When she freaks out, that's inconvenient to everyone, so why not kick her out?
Besides, I doubt we have the full story yet anyway.

they're still not allowed to discriminate based on gender, race or sexual orientation.

Except that with a plane you may very well need to fucking get somewhere, and if they were on the flight they already paid for a ticket. Even if you're at a restaurant, they can't just come over to your table at random and throw you out for doing effectively nothing. If kissing in public is something you consider "offensive", how on earth do you handle going to the beach?
