FP is out for blood again. If prison is a mean of punishment then your prison system failed. If you want criminals to be punished then why not bring back all the torture devices or at least some lashes a day. The only thing prison should do is separate dangerous people from society. It should not serve as a form of punishment. Rehab is a thousand times better than punishment system prison. Reoffending rates show that punishment is inefficient and only pleases your moral desire for revenge. And this isn't US prison so chances of them meeting Big Bubba are rather slim.

I don't know about this one, what rapists would brag about raping to multiple people and what school would collectively bully a rape victim. I think there is way more to this because the news never sympathises with accused rapists whether they're innocent or not. It reminds me of a story I heard from a comedian who talked about how he was falsely accused of rape and sentenced for 2 years. The stories similarities were that they bragged about how they had sex with this girl, word got around and she was bullied, name called a whore, slut etc. She was so embarrassed by this that she cried rape to absolve her of any embarrassment and make people sympathize with her instead.

That all of the feelings that you have from that sort of traumatic experience just float away after you tell people that it happened? Fixing the emotional and psychological trauma that comes along with a rape is a long and difficult process, and that trauma will always be present in the victim's mind. Everyone will have their eyes on you as a rape victim, as damaged. People will have sympathy for you, but more than that they will have condescending pity. You don't magically feel better after you tell someone that you were raped. Doing so is a show of emotional strength, but it also makes you feel vulnerable, that someone else knows what happened. And that name calling you were talking about? It doesn't stop either. People will still say those things, although maybe not to your face. When people brag about doing something like this, more often than not, they will not incite that they forced the victim into it. The bragging comes in much the same form as any story that is shared about one's sexual escapades, and the most that comes out about the circumstances is the lie that the victim was 'easy'.

Criminals (rapists) will still operate on the basis that they won't get caught, or they will just be more careful about their crimes. Society needs to change by way of rehabilitation and education, not by bloodshed.

Or, send it to the police and hope there's magic.[/QUOTE] Thats the problem, the police are having all the effect of being on his side, i know they actully arent rooting for him, but in doing their job they have made, will the guy who did it ,untouchable. up untill about 2 months ago he would happily walk into her house to see her little brother, peek into her room, make a comment about the rape, in full view of her brother and absoulutely nothing would be done about it becuase the brother would just cover the rapists ass if it came to reporting him. this shit only stopped when i caught him cornering her up against a wall in town one day, and i had enough- despite the fact i had been told by the police to not approch him i ended up shoving him up against the wall and giving him some cheesey death-threat i heard in a video game. then he then ran away. i wanted to beat the everliving shit out of the guy , but even that small encounter landed me a warning with the police for "threatening and abusive behavior". this is why he got her little brother and his little group to bully her for him, becuase he himself is now too scared to. I agree; the kids don't JUST need probation and community service, they need to have their heads sorted out, try to find out what mental issues and which events lead to them thinking that doing those things to a girl was in any way justified or ok, and then take steps to ensure they do not try that shit again. Also, in regards to Winters' misanthropy, I think I have a way to deal with it; the people who do such things are simply human, and people must strive to be better than that.

In my everyday actions I try to be a good reasonable person. Of course I often fail but I always strive to learn from those mistakes. It is simply disheartening to see that others try and be the biggest pieces of shit possible, makes it really hard to be good to other people sometimes.

Minors should be tried the exact same as adults when it comes to people of this age in these kinds of situations. Sickening.

Giving the kids that little of a punishment for something as horrible as they did isn't going to do anything at all. I think it will be entirely negative because the kids who did it will think of it more as a joke because there were no serious repercussions.
