spending a nano sec to make sure it wasnt a gun especially when it probably wasnt doesnt make someone a bad cop.
Managing to do that in a nanosecond would require you to be superhuman. Managing to double check the weapon and shoot in the same time it takes for the other person to shoot is superhuman.
You really over-estimate human boundaries.

yes but he had less of a chance of having a gun then having one. also it takes less then a second to see if a golf club is a gun.

You realise this was a drug raid right? Those things end in shootings, a lot. It was very likely he had a gun. And again, do you know what's faster that spending a second looking at the weapon and then firing?
Just firing. Like the guy could have done.

It's a reflex reaction. Going into a potentially dangerous situation, then seeing a figure come at you with a metallic object, they're not trained to do a risk assessment in such split-second situations. Such moves can mean death.

Yea and I have been in and have seen many drug raids. non of them ever ended in a shoot out.
Gone for an hour and 58 posts. Damn.
Anyways, a flood of people have come in without reading any of the thread. Many of the things you guys are saying were already discussed.
And about the victimless thing, I mean I see what you are getting at. But it leads to things that are not victimless. Yes, if someone smokes some crack it doesn't hurt me. However, when they need to pay for it and steal my money or my items, oh shit I am now a victim. That is why I say it isn't necessarily victimless. And yes I have had shit stolen from me by drug addicts, so I am not just basing this off of a movie or anything.
Also, Imasillypiggy all I can recommend to you is going back and reading the thread. You are bringing up a lot of past conversation and it just doesn't make any sense.
Wow that guy is stupid to jump in front of police officer with a weapon...

well yea thats probably true. but it doesnt mean they should have shot them. he should have relied on more then reflex even if he didnt.
Ye and I have been in and have seen many drug raids. non of them ever ended in a shoot out.
Bullshit.
Bullshit.
I live in section 8 housing. its an apartment with drug dealers.
Are you seriously claiming you've been in multiple drug raids featuring big guys with guns, body armour and drug addicts and in none of those there has been any shooting?
One part of that's unbelievable, the other is just stupidly false.
This is a no-win argument.
Innocent is dead, could have been avoided, the Swat member who shot him is probably second-guessing himself into oblivion and the internet is swollen with rage.
I agree that they were completely justified in shooting him. If you hear a bunch of people outside yelling "Search warrant," you don't grab a weapon and get ready to attack them, there is no debate about that. If he were deaf (I don't know if anyone tried to say this,) he wouldn't have even known to grab a weapon if some bad people were trying to break into his house. The point is, he knew the police were coming in, and they had every right to shoot, and kill him.
tl;dr: He should have got down to the ground.
You're not debating, you're telling people that you know what's best for them. If people want to inject cyanide into their eyeballs, the only thing you should be doing if anything is help them insert the syringe. Instead, you choose to be a violent, tyrannic piece of shit who tries to justify things like this.
I'm not personally telling anyone whats best for them. However, when large operations such as robbery, and theft and a range of other things its just hard to see it as a harmless event.
I am not being violent about this, I am not being tyrannic and I am not being a piece of shit. I am justifying the police in this video shooting this man.
I'm not saying the War on Drugs is the most efficient way to handle this or that it is being handled efficiently. I am only saying that we can't just leave it be and say "Ah it's not an issue."

yep because only hardened criminals use drugs. yea I have been in one and have seen many. it never ended in violence. Really why do you think its impossible that I live in a poor area?
imasillypiggy, given he decided to check if that was in fact a firearm the assailant would have shot him. This is why you don't hesitate in the face of danger.
yep because only hardened criminals use drugs. yea I have been in one and have seen many. it never ended in violence. Really why do you think its impossible that I live in a poor area?
I find it impossible to believe you've been in multiple situations like the one in the video.

I think you can't speak for everyone and everything. Saying that your personal experiance backs up your argument is like me trying to say all teenagers are druggies because I saw one smoking weed.
I find it impossible to believe you've been in multiple situations like the one in the video.
I said I have been in one. but I have seen (like being a 20 feet away) many. it happens every now and then if you live in an apartment.

having not seen one turn into a shoot out means that probably most dont turn into shoot outs.

no actually it's nothing like that at all
aren't you 12, imasillypiggy?

You're either exaggerating or live in a crack den.
And that second part is stupid.

it's not stupid at all, think of it like this;
Having never seen someone die means that probably most people don't die.
aren't you 12, imasillypiggy?
wat? I could see if you implied it in a joke to make fun of me but this is just stupid. but really if you want to see my age you can look in the 4chan thread you can see a 2 year old photo of me.

your first part shows you must have never been in a poor area. The cops come every 3 days for something.
and the 2nd part is just dumb

There's a difference between "poor area" and "police come every so often in teams of 12 to take down someone for handing out crack like it's candy."

I said the cops come ever 3 days. not for drug take downs (even it is one of there main reasons for coming) you understand that we live in different places. perhaps L.A. or near it has more drug addicts then were you live in.
imasillypiggy, sorry but you are going to say that drug raids on houses never end in violence? Or at least the ones that you have personally witnessed? Sure the ones you have seen haven't ended in violence... But that doesn't really summarize all situations at all.
Who cares if you are telling the truth, but you haven't seen very many. You have also only seen them in your selected area.
I have been in a parking lot when a drug deal between undercover agents and drug dealers went south. The drug dealers tried to rob the cops and pulled guns out and started shooting. The cops removed pistols and shot both dealers.
You are absolutely right though, drug dealers are not violent people.

well that wasnt a drug raiding. I would say that even though I have not seen 1000nds of drug raids I at least have seen enough to know how most go.
