If they aren't sure the guy is holding a gun or not, at least fucking just try and immobilize him first by shooting his leg or something.. He's gonna go down. If these cops aren't fast enough to do that, then they don't deserve to wear the badge.
Jesus fucking Christ, police do not shoot the legs. It's inefficient and stupid. You can't aim as well as you can in an FPS in real life, you shoot the centre mass because there's less chance of missing. Waiting until you're sure what weapon he is using is a sure way to die. A criminal pulling a trigger is faster than you analysing the situation, realising it is a gun, and then pulling it yourself. Finally, these police aren't fucking robots. They're people, and as such have human limits. Stop expecting them to jump into bullet time whenever they see someone, it's not going to happen.
I maybe be thinking like as if this were a video game and innocent lives weren't at stake.. But it was still stupid to shoot the guy that many times.
except he wasn't even a drug dealer and even if he was then this is a ridiculous way to deal with the situation so once again it goes back to being the war on drugs and police's fault
They did what they we're supposed to do and told to do, yes the war on drugs is bullshit, but the police were just doing what they were told and what they were trained to do. If you don't like it go protest a police academy or something.
The guy was holding a FUCKING KATANA.
They had a full team of swat members, and I'm sure one of them could have shot once and then another one tasered him. I think it was just a little unnecessary to shoot him that many times.. I'm sure the fucking swat guy realized that he wasn't holding a gun pretty damn quick, so I'm sure he could have stopped himself from shooting that many times.
If the police shoot, they shoot to kill. If you're shot once in the chest, you're most likely going to die anyway. It's not like the movies, there's no dedicated good guy zone on the upper right shoulder where you can be shot and fight off waves of terrorists. If you are shot, you are dead or crippled.
How can you say its anything more than a fuck up when they found nothing they were looking for and shot an innocent man. Whether its to do with planning or execution something was still pretty fucked here. I admit I overreacted saying that the cop is obviously to blame though. And the issue isn't the cops knowing where he was, it's you saying that the sisters words were bullshit.
Again, you aren't very intelligent with putting things together. You are absolutely right though. It was a fuck up. A HUGE FUCK UP. When police come to your house and you hear 8 guys yelling "POLICE! SEARCH WARRANT", you probably SHOULDN'T GRAB A FUCKING WEAPON. Where did the last line come from? The guy posted a follow up article about this and the lady was talking about how the guy didn't hear it. It was in bold, meaning he was pointing it out. I was merely saying that if he was in the basement he wouldn't have been in the hallway at the backdoor the MOMENT the door opened without hearing them yell "POLICE!". Thus, it is extremely likely, the sisters words are bull shit about him not hearing it.
They thought he had a gun and reacted appropriately. How is this hard to understand?
Which is why I said they need better training if they can't tell the difference between a golf club and a firearm. If they didn't know what he had then they shouldn't have shot him in the forehead.
Which is why I said they need better training if they can't tell the difference between a golf club and a firearm.
Did you just say "FUCK IT!" and not read any posts in this thread but your own? People when over this a dozen times for Gods sake....
Yep, I can totally see how they'd mistake a golf club for a firearm. Those god damned tiger wood wannabe drug dealers. Normally I'm with the police in most things, but this was just fucking stupid. You have full blown body armor, the best money can buy, years of training, and you mistake a golf club for a gun?
Which is why I said they need better training if they can't tell the difference between a golf club and a firearm.
We've been over this a million fucking times. The police saw a weapon and fired. It was dark, everyone was moving and you can tell from his posture he was aggressive. Is it really that hard to understand that SWAT does not equal Robocop, and that they don't have perfect night vision, lightning reflexes and laser dicks?
They did what they we're supposed to do and told to do, yes the war on drugs is bullshit, but the police were just doing what they were told and what they were trained to do.
Which is why I said they need better training if they can't tell the difference between a golf club and a firearm. If they didn't know what he had then they shouldn't have shot him in the forehead.
I still don't understand how people are taking this stupid approach. It isn't the training of the officers. It is the STUPIDITY OF THE MAN WHO GOT SHOT. You don't fucking jump around a corner with a weapon when you hear A BUNCH OF POLICE YELLING "POLICE! SEARCH WARRANT!" What part of that is hard to understand?

Sure they know the layout of the house, but they don't know where the guy is...
Maybe I misinterpreted that line, my bad.
so the lower ranking nazis were justified in what they were doing because they were told and trained to do it?
They were justified according to the high rank Nazis... If the Germans would have won the war, they wouldn't have been jailed. Quit making irrelevant points.
so the lower ranking nazis were justified in what they were doing because they were told and trained to do it?
I'm not trying to justify it, just understanding why they did it.
I still don't understand how people are taking this stupid approach. It isn't the training of the officers. It is the STUPIDITY OF THE MAN WHO GOT SHOT. If I hide in a crackden and play peekaboo when the SWAT jumps in through the windows, I'm not going to go down as a martyr for human rights. I'm going to win a Darwin and maybe have a dumbass 4chan meme in my name.
so the lower ranking nazis were justified in what they were doing because they were told and trained to do it?
Winner by Godwin's law, JDK.
How about we go halfway, admit that both parties probably panicked and that the guy wasn't stupid but probably confused.
Wish I could but, the police did the right thing. It sucks the guy died, but they were going on a raid for drugs and that in itself has a tendency to end with drug dealers shooting at officers. It is one of those no mess around deals. If the cops came to my door and yelled I would panic too, but my first reaction would be to lay on the ground or just have my arms straight in the air. Not grab something. It looks like the police made a mistake because you have the entire story in front of you. But if you think about it at the time of it happening before you hear ANYTHING else, the police did what they were supposed to do.
Leg shots are also effective at disabling a potential threat, what's the need in body shots that was just horrible.
No, they aren't. The legs contain very large arteries and veins. It would be like slicing a jugular artery.
Wish I could but, the police did the right thing. It is one of those no mess around deals.
no, they didn't. 1) no knock warrants shouldn't be used in drug cases 2) he wasn't even a drug dealer, so they obviously fucked up there as well. they need to make damn sure they have good intel before raiding a house. 3) even if he was a drug dealer, raiding a house in the middle of the night is a terrible way to deal with the situation. there are a lot less riskier ways to take the person into custody.
If the cops came to my door and yelled I would panic too, but my first reaction would be to lay on the ground or just have my arms straight in the air. Not grab something.
how do you know he even knew it was the police? he could've been sleeping and woke up in a daze, thinking that it was a bunch of burglars. this wouldn't be the first time it happened. there was another no-knock warrant case where the homeowner thought burglars were breaking in, and he shot the police. no-knock warrants SHOULDN'T be used in drug cases.
I'm sorry for not jumping in my time machine, rushing over there and taking a picture just as they broke the door down. You'll have to settle with this.

Terribly sorry JDK721... Have you never even watched an episode of cops? They knock on the door and the guys are already shoving bags of drugs down the drain... It isn't like they snuck in stealth like. They fucking yelled and hollered and broke the fucking door in. But you are absolutely right, *Knock Knock* Police: *whistle* Criminal: "JUST A MINUTE!!!" Police: *whistle* Criminal: "ALMOST DONE!!!" Police: *whistle* -10 minutes later- Criminal: "Okay, sorry I was uh, busy, what did you guys need? Oh to search the place? Yeah no problem, this is exactly how the place would be left if you hadn't given me the warning."
the police officer who shot this man should be fired immediately and be put on trial having a shiny badge and uniform does not give you the excuse to use extreme force for no good reason
Terribly sorry JDK721... Have you never even watched an episode of cops?
yes, I've seen plenty I watch shows like law enforcement/crime shows all the time
Winner by Godwin's law, JDK.
it's not as if his comparison is far off

The comments in this video just confirm that people will say "fuck the police" no matter what.
the police officer who shot this man should be fired immediately and be put on trial having a shiny badge and uniform does not give you the excuse to use extreme force for no good reason
Did you even read the threa fuck this shit i'm going to bed
