Valve should but won't they already see CSS raking in a ton of money, why would they care to make another one.
I honestly feel they wouldn't make another game. I feel they are just gonna do a major over-haul to the game they already have. Fine by me, a new game would be dumb because they really don't have enough new content for a new game.
it needs some sort of feature that can allow the computer to punch anyone under the age of 17 in the balls if they attempt to play it.
Actually, all online games need this.
People above 16 aren't the only mature ones.

God damn edit button.
All I really care to have improved on is graphics quality and physics. An engine wide update.
Gameplay is perfect as is.

The hit boxes could sure use some improvement, thats for sure.
I enjoyed playing CS 1.6, but once CS:S was released it became a hackers dream. Haven't played since. Actually the only time I play CS:S is for the Zombie Mod! It's really fun! :D
Does it have to be realistic to be fun? It won't be fun having to press the "Reach into pocket" button, then select "Ammo Clip (Or magazine, whatever), Primary", then press the key binded to "Reload" and go make a sandwich while your character keeps dropping the thing in the mud while being shot in the back, going blind.
I didn't know realistic gameplay means unnecessary bullshit that wouldn't even happen in a real situation. Nice strawman there.
Really though, asking for realistic gameplay in CS:S is like asking for more arcadey, casual gameplay in ArmA II
CS:S has never really pulled any strings for me.
All I want is Prospero.
I'm sure at some point they will release a new counter-strike or something similar. Isn't the creator of CS making a new game anyway?

Yeah, found it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tactical_Intervention
I was going to vote, but saw it was on Facebook so I decided against it.
i'd buy and try if it was less stupid and focused on diehard pros having fun and everyone else has no chance
character customization, unlocks, etc, that or something new that valve could stir up. css is way too plain atm and if they just make a direct copy, throw in some new gun models and a few maps, yeah nobody is going to play that for more than 10 minutes
What would a sequel to it have ?
Different guns ? Maps ? I just don't see the need for it to be a full sequel for something you can do in an update or DLC.
A CS game on the L4D2 Source Engine? Somebody better fucking start making nightmaps, because that engine is sexy!
night maps would be pretty fun.. food for thought :)
Did these idiots even think what they can even expand on with CSS? If anyone starts saying "oh tactics / ability to look around walls", it's those features that are missing that make up CSS. The entire point of it is to just run around, shoot a few people and rescue a few hostages. It's basic, but that's what makes the game great for most people. All I can see that would be beneficial is an engine upgrade, but by doing that you would cut out everyone that can't play OB / L4D Games.
You forgot the primary game mechanic:
Bitch about everything and get a shit ton of server mods because they're just so awesome.
Seriously, I only play CS:S with bots, the community is absolutely worthless.
If they ever add anything new to the Counter-Strike formula (new weapons, attributes, equips) everyone will rage for multiple reasons and just go back to CS:S or CS 1.6 because it's more 'balanced'
Therefore a new version is not needed, even if it is something as small as a graphical update, people will still whinge
There's a server or two with no mods and okayish players.
As long as they don't add undermounted grenade launchers and killstreaks, I'd play it.
Oh boy, another already-failed petition. I'm curious to what "Counter-Strike 2" would be like though.

2/100,000 isn't necessarily good.
It would be nice if they added Counter-Strike 1.6 to Xbox live arcade... but then...
Oh god, the screaming kids.
