Virgin Galactic CEO

Also I changed the title, I hope you don't mind.
Virgin CEO seems cool about it.
Wow, what a cunt. He's not even in the club.
I'm pretty sure the sheppard went into suborbital too. The difference is that the sheppard has 1 engine while the falcon has 9, the falcon has a second stage which just successfully deployed technology into space. The height of the falcon is over twice that of Bezo's sheppard.
That and spaceX delivered an actual payload
SpaceX's Grasshopper did what Blue Origin did 3 years ago
And F9 went a lot higher and faster.

The New Sheppard just went straight up and back down. It's about the size of one of the Falcon 9's first stage landing legs. The Falcon 9 first stage has a high lateral velocity since it's actually sending something to orbit, and has to completely flip it's trajectory.
It's an infinitely more complicated process with a vehicle many times the size.

A lot less high tbh. New Shepard is a scaled up Grasshopper.

There's more to it than that.

This video can explain it much better than I can.

Ah yes, mr "tried to patent landing on a barge"

I love how much shit hes getting for this tweet.
NPR is congratulating Jeff Bezos "of SpaceX" on their successful Falcon mission. Fucking kill me.

Link?

Just heard it on the radio while driving, hopefully they're not dumb enough to actually publish that anywhere.

What was that tweet? Appears to be gone.

I could toss my phone across the room and it would have flown a sub orbital flight. There isn't much meaning to the term.
Well Elon Musk is probably jizzing in his pants at the moment since this is going to help with his global internet project.

When did Steve Harvey get a job with NPR?
eeeeeeeeee
EEEEEEEEE
I'm super excited to hear this! This is HUGE and makes Bezo's less significant landing seem not so... significant. I'd say more but hey I may end up working for one of these companies so best not to completely trash either of them :v:
Big boost for the satellite project too, which is already being taken quite seriously. There have been a number of job advertisements up in the Seattle area for engineers related to that project, along with internship applications being opened up too. There have been 45 positions open since October for the Redmond location, actually. And the first test launch is still scheduled for 2016. Constellation R&D is still in progress too.
They've been a bit quiet, mostly because Musk has said they're trying to avoid overextending their capabilities or promises since a 4000-unit satellite constellation is sort of a big deal. Still, they're on the guest list for engineering job fairs at my Uni shortly. And I bet they'll get swarmed. Surprised they aren't farming our Aero/Astro dept hardcore, I know Blue Origin has been taking a ton of grads from that program.
I'm so happy this has gone through because it will be waaaay easier (cheaper) to get investors on board for space-related projects.

Somehow it just looks so much smaller when there aren't any people next to it.
Just... wow that's huge.
Fuck, I knew I had forgotten something today.
I can't believe I missed this.

Check SpaceX's youtube page.

I've already seen it; I wanted to watch it live and I completely forgot.

For sale, 1 gently used rocket
Drivetrain: 9 Merlin engines
Fuel:lox/kerosene
Other features: slight scorching of the paint job, like new otherwise
It's really exciting to hear they landed it!
Can't wait to see all of the things this makes possible.

One small step for man, one giant leap for fuck you Jeff Bezos
Is this rocket going to be reused or is it only a proof of concept for future rockets to be reused?
Really cool none the less, I regret sleeping in today.

Probably taken apart and inspected. Then I think they're going to use it to treat their equipment at their new Pad 39a site.
