I will probably be known as the number 1 pokemon go basher considering how opinionated I am. Pokemon GO better have options to turn off your location from appearing on the map. I know you can turn off gps tracking with phones, but that would disable the game entirely I think. Nintendo clearly didn't design this game around stupidity. They didn't think about the the idiots that would use their devices while driving to catch pokemon. They didn't think about the idiots that would wander into private/dangerous property to cache a nearby pokemon. They didn't think about the idiots that would be distracted near roadways to cache a pokemon (if they live in a city.) They didn't think about the ramifications of displaying people's location when using the app. I would not be surprised if this app ends up getting banned in cities or states. It's way too dangerous for idiots.
This game is blowing my mind. I'm seeing popular tumblr posts about how its giving people a reason to finally leave their bedrooms/houses. I must be getting old because that sounds so pathetic to me...
It is pathetic
cars are dangerous for idiots, better ban cars
Automobile accidents are one of the top killers in the U.S. along with Heart Disease.
Only by downloading the game did I realise the GPS in my phone is dead, shit sucks especially as k was kinda excited to play. The whole concept seems a bit sketchy, should teens be running around going places on a map based on other players actions (placing beacons and such).
The only interaction between players is seeing a lure placed at an already marked location.
Ah not as bad as I thought. But I still can't think of any other game/app where you could encourage other people to go to specific places of your choosing.

My nearest pokestop is a random park outside of my town.
It is pathetic
I wouldn't call it pathetic. It is never to late to change your lifestyle. So what if Pokemon GO is the reason for doing so.

Someone on reddit is estimating the top speed for PGO to be around 20 and 40 km/h. I couldn't sleep last night so I walked around catching pokemon around midnight, I saw this lure module in a nearby parking where I saw like 10-15 people standing around on their phones, it's pretty funny if you ask me, I've been seeing people everywhere playing it.
cars are dangerous for idiots, better ban cars
not what i'm trying to say at all do i think this game should be banned? no do i think that this game should be updated so dangerous shit doesn't happen? yes i'm just saying that I wouldn't be surprised if someone tried to ban it
There's a hospital across the street from my apartment that has two pokestops and a gym, but its never very busy since its next an even bigger hospital. I was able roll around the parking lot in my car, hit all the pokestops and catch 5 Pokémon in about 5 minutes. Every time my phone would buzz I pull into a parking spot and catch a new pokemon.
If things get any worse, they'll probably disable these things throughout the night so that robbers are forced to make moves in broad daylight. Dunno much about Pokemon Go though but that seems like a logical move.
So I was standing around in an empty parking lot with a lure module on it, then some guy with long scraggly hair in an old station wagon pulls up next to me and looks at me. I'm thinking "ah shit what does he want", and then he just goes "POKEMON!" and drives away.
The problem isn't really the game, it's moreso that people are retarded enough to go to sketchy areas, alone, at night
Pokemon GO better have options to turn off your location from appearing on the map.
well it doesn't appear on the map at all ever so there you go
The amount of people talking in this thread who don't even know how the game works is astounding
Where's the funny rating?! How shitty, they must have really wanted those pokemon.
Please learn how the game works first before you call out the devs for not disabling things that weren't even implemented in the first place.
Well excuse me for the article literally stating
Yeah but that is the lure module. It turns a pokestop into a poke attractor so it naturally attracts people to it who want to capture pokemon. It can only be done at pokestops. It isn't actually showing anyone's location so it's a little silly to make statements like the ones you made.

Points still stands about the driving shit. Apparently they do have a speed limit cap, but it's set to highway speed (65 mph).
Is that why I couldn't catch anything from the passenger seat of my buddies car?
Oh thanks. This is better than being passive aggressive. Points still stands about the driving shit. It's unfortunate but people need to use common sense when visiting locations in sketchy areas at sketchy times. I usually stick to the well lit roads at night.
Though I'm not interested in the game it's a shame that people manage to fuck up a game by being either complete assholes (harming others) or being completely retarded (doing shit that results in them getting fired, injured, going to dodgy places in the middle of the night, etc)
I bet you soccer m oms will start going against the game without even knowing you can't be located with it.
Is that why I couldn't catch anything from the passenger seat of my buddies car?
most likely niantic are known for having speed restrictions on actions didn't stop us incargressing at like 5kmph though
