I caught a dratini, a vulpix, and a seaking at 45 miles per hour today. I haven't had any issues with unresponsive servers, just nothing being anywhere near my house
I just caught a dragonite about 45 minutes ago. Nearly shit my pants. [editline]11th July 2016[/editline] The only problem I've had is the app freezing on my phone
still no windows OS app...
I can kind of see people speeding from pokestop to pokestop but I don't think people actually try to catch pokemon at 60+ mph, that's insane (and really hard to do, the radius around your location of which you can catch pokemon is pretty small)
It's not the speeding, it's driving while having a mobile device in your hands. People are posting pictures of themselves driving while trying to cache pokemon to the point where people are issuing warnings. [t]http://i.imgur.com/rJA3SyC.jpg[/t]
I still love how this app is just as dangerous as going outside is but people are blaming the app Going outside has inherent dangers. It is not the fault of the app that this is the case. Going outside has even more inherent dangers when you're holding out a 600 dollar device and not looking around you.
it is the app, though. because all these kids-and adults are going outside at random points in time to catch fucking pokemon in these shady places they'd never go to before.
The problem isn't really the game, it's moreso that people are retarded enough to go to sketchy areas, alone, at night

it is the app, though. because all these kids-and adults are going outside at random points in time to catch fucking pokemon in these shady places they'd never go to before.
Saint Charles and O'Fallon are far from sketchy/shady areas, though. We're talking sleepy, upper middle class suburbia. I've lived near this area for the majority of my life, even lived in "downtown" Saint Charles for a couple of years, and wouldn't think twice of being out alone late at night. Worst thing you're generally going to encounter is bored, overzealous police officers, or maybe some drunks wandering home from one of the bars on Main Street if you're near the riverfront.
Last night around midnight I saw someone dropping a lure module near an unlit park near me. They did it for about an hour too, so it's interesting, but I'm not dense enough to to check it out. Lot safer to stay home and use incense.
This is as urban as Saint Charles gets, lol. This is Main Street, a mile long stretch of locally owned shops, restaurants, and bars operating out of historic buildings along the riverfront. A very quiet, dull part of the city. Median home value, $189,000. Low crime. Great schools. Like, sure, every city has a certain amount of crime, but ya'll talking like Saint Charles is some shady warzone that people should tread in with care simply don't know what you're on about. If Saint Charles were a person, he would be a blond teenage white kid who wears polos and khaki slacks to church with his family each Sunday. He's not actually very religious, however. He occasionally smokes a joint and over-exaggerates how high he is. He's just a little bit racist, though more out of ignorance than malice. He considers himself socially and economically conservative, though he doesn't really understand what that means and would likely fall somewhere near the middle of the political spectrum if push came to shove. He drives a new model pickup truck with all the upgrades, sporting a loud bumper sticker and off-road tires (despite the fact that the closest it has ever come to being "off road" is navigating it through the gravel parking lots at fruit stands). His parents bought this truck for him, and yet he still considers it a reflection of his own worth.
Damn, Team Rocket is really stepping up their game. (User was banned for this post ("Pointless reply" - Novangel))
Going have to make a stand here and say it's not pointless if it gives everyone a good laugh. And I hope we won't have to derail the thread because I said that. :v: (User was banned for this post ("Derailing" - Big Dumb American))
"these damn video games, making our children go play outside where it's unsafe!" How things have changed.
it is the app, though. because all these kids-and adults are going outside at random points in time to catch fucking pokemon in these shady places they'd never go to before.
And then the axe suddenly killed all these people while being in my hand... i really cant explain it officer, but that’s how it went! Please... people need to take personal responsibility also admins sure seem ban happy... both of those posts should be fine.
It's crazy how big this game is despite even feeling a quarter of the way finished.
Damn, Team Rocket is really stepping up their game. (User was banned for this post ("Pointless reply" - Novangel))
How did this warrant a ban? lol (User was banned for this post ("Derailing" - Big Dumb American))
How did this warrant a ban? lol

- Don't post just to put your epic zinger, reference or pun.
I was referencing this, didn't know how to word it
Anyway back on topic please

this is the reason me and my friends go around in groups armed while doing this >.>
Oh thanks. This is better than being passive aggressive. Points still stands about the driving shit. Apparently they do have a speed limit cap, but it's set to highway speed (65 mph).
A lot of people have been doing tests on that and they're saying it's around 20-40 mph. Honestly, maybe you should try the app out for a few days, not saying you would like it or not but I think maybe it's a good idea to at least know what you're talking about before forming such a strong opinion on it.
offtopic: heads up for anyone using it on iOS and using a google account to login - it gives Niantic complete control to your gmail account uncertain if it's just a massive oversight or on purpose; I just had to delete their access to mine ontopic: I wonder if the pokemon go app really helped them do these robberies or it was a coincidence?
it is the app, though. because all these kids-and adults are going outside at random points in time to catch fucking pokemon in these shady places they'd never go to before.
Except it's not There's no advantage to going out at night over going out in the middle of the day or with a group of friends It's poor choices made by those playing the game. It takes a real lack of common sense to go out in the middle of the goddamn night or to a sketchy area you wouldn't go to otherwise - it doesn't matter how good or bad your area is, either, because when it comes down to it, you can be held up in any neighborhood.

I think they start coming out in the early evening though, so you don't really need to be out past 9.

You have only yourself to blame if you lack situational awareness.
There are slightly different Pokemon at night. I think they start coming out in the early evening though, so you don't really need to be out past 9.
The game goes into "night" mode around 7pm
Rolled in the mean streets of downtown Saint Charles w/ my crew all evening, caught Pokemans, visited the, like, forty fucking PokeStops, and somehow didn't get shot in this FRIGHTENING and SHADY place. [editline]11th July 2016[/editline] Although my nervous dog did piss on my foot, and I saw some greasy kid in a gasmask. So, that was a bit offputting.
Currently sitting at a burger joint looking at a decorative fountain/Pokestop. But I can't login. Supposedly amazon has offered their servers to help Niantic
I just missed out on a fucking pikachu because of the server going down

Pokemon GO isn't an excuse to forget all your safety knowledge when it comes to walking around at night or being in shady places.
THIS. Pokemon GO isn't an excuse to forget all your safety knowledge when it comes to walking around at night or being in shady places.
it isn't forgetting safety knowledge on purpose and using "eh, who cares about safety, pokémon go first" as an excuse, it's you not having it on your mind since you're focused on something else you'd be surprised at how many people forget about safety when they're distracted
it isn't forgetting safety knowledge on purpose and using "eh, who cares about safety, pokémon go first" as an excuse, it's you not having it on your mind since you're focused on something else you'd be surprised at how many people forget about safety when they're distracted
"Look, it's not that they forgot how to be safe it's just that they forgot to be safe because they were too busy playing a video game." I hope you realize how dumb that sounds. Throwing caution to the wind and allowing yourself to become distracted in public is stupid any way to cut it, everyone is responsible for their own safety. Am I to believe that I'm somehow endowed with superhuman powers because I don't walk around with my head up my own ass? I hope this isn't that extraordinary, we've fucked up somewhere if that's what we've become.
