So they're fighting what/who they think are assholes, by being even bigger assholes? Someone didn't tell them about eye for an eye.
A sphincter for a sphincter.
This is just liek Deus Ex guis !!!! ICANN------DEADELUS
I'm furious right now.
They have some sort of analytics software on the webserver where the images are hosted. The webserver has a bad HTTPS certificate and looks to be completely empty otherwise.
Wow, fucking idiot government.
In Sweden the government can't censor anything :smugdog:
To bad you'll be effected too, because the US government removes the domain name. Which will effect everyone connected to the internet.
If that bill wasn't passed isn't this illegal?
If they go on a rampage and block Facepunch or Cracked I'm gonna kill someone.
This happened to a Russian tracker. It was located at torrents.ru, and 30 minutes after their domain was removed, they reopened at rutracker.org. Not that much of a problem.
I'd say it's technically not illegal through shit like the homeland security act and that precedent from japaneseguy vs us after ww2 where thousands of random japanese civilians here were sent into containment camps out of hysteria, where defined that the government has the 'right' to take away human rights 'in times of war' .
There goes intellectual freedom, bye bye.

Why Am I getting the feeling this is going to f*** up the econamy even more....
Why Am I getting the feeling this is going to f*** up the econamy even more....
Oh god, oh god, the US are already censoring swear words. :ohdear:
All of the old dumb ass bastards in charge need to die off already.
But can one visit the site by typing the ip address instead?
yes
While complex, it’s still possible for U.S. authorities and copyright groups to point at a fully-fledged BitTorrent site with a tracker and say “that’s an infringing site.”
I do not see a problem here. How is a torrent site not infringing? The little graphic it puts up on the site explains it all, it is a federal offence to infringe on copyright. Also, great unbiased source.
Quick! Someone change facepunch's domain.
You need a revolution over in the US :v:
Oh no I can't illegally pirate music and games what ever shall I do? We should kill the government because obviously they are in the wrong.
So how long until this is used to censor political dissent?
They can't because unless the website is pirating things, they cannot take action against it. Why do you seem to think that politicians would want to censor political dissent anyway? How does that help them, or America? Oh yeah, because the government is all an evil overlord power that wants to kill you and your whole family and watch you with cameras.
Please stop comparing this to censorship, they are not going to take down wikileaks, or any political website that doesn't agree, with whatever supposed political position you think the US government assumes.

Fuck the DNS, from now on I'll only use IP addresses to access sites.
holy shit are you really this naive?
Yes apparently please inform me of my mistakes.
wow nice strawman
What you gonna do about it? It's not a strawman because Zeke apparently think the government will censor political dissenters for no reason and without probable cause.
explain this then
Remember that time Facepunch was down last week? OMG MUST HAVE BEEN GOVERNMENT BECAUSE FACEPUNCH WAS BEING SUED REMEMBER?!?!
Well friends, time to load up my AR-15 and go to Washington :patriot:
And go to Guantanamo.
I'm just hoping (insert favorite site here) doesn't get removed!
Everyone should register UK/other non-US controlled domains instead.
I'm just hoping (insert favorite site here) doesn't get removed!
Whois the site, save the IP. If it gets taken down, you'll still manage to access it. Easy.
Yes apparently please inform me of my mistakes. What you gonna do about it?
Facepunch wasn't about to leak a huge amount of information.
So that PROVES that the government took the site down? [editline]26th November 2010[/editline] There can be no other explanation?
Yes apparently please inform me of my mistakes.
You are naive for assuming that the USA's intentions with using this power are restricted to just censoring websites that contravene filesharing laws. Believe it or not, there are a lot of websites that the USA government doesn't want people to access, for political reasons. This is true of all governments, but the difference between them and the USA government is that the USA government has the power to shut down websites which are hosted overseas. I don't think you grasp the enormity and immorality of that power. Imagine if the government of China could switch off American websites by just pushing a button.
What you gonna do about it?
refute your argument
It's not a strawman because Zeke apparently think the government will censor political dissenters for no reason and without probable cause.
Yeah that's literally unheard of.
Remember that time Facepunch was down last week?
