• Warn young children about pornography, say headteachers.
Case in point; pubic hair. Before porn was widely available and cheap everyone had it and no one cared because it was normal. Now, pretty much everyone does something to manage it and especially women, a lot of whom are embarassed by having any at all. Obviously shaved wasn't always the most attractive option otherwise this wouldn't be a new phenomenon so why did this trend start in the first place?
this is a really bad point to make your example with. human body hair removal has been around for literally centuries. Porn wasn't the trendsetter at all. You could make the same case for masculine pattern hair on men, its completely normal and hairier men are often correlated with higher testosterone levels, but good luck finding me a large sample of women in western culture these days who think a thick rug of hair on your back is sexy.

Body hair removal is a pretty established practice yet it was changed by something and cultural changes this wide don't happen this quickly (30 years at most) without some new factor to motivate them. What else could it be other than porn? That aside you have brought up something very interesting about my point; why isn't it the same for men? Could it be that I'm wrong or is misogyny pressuring women more? I think that's a discussion best left to another thread though :v:
elf-amputee-scat-porn,
This is a scarily specific example
This is a scarily specific example
Ryu-gi
Just throwing it out there, if there was a graph regarding my everyday productivity, it would take a nose dive after i discovered porn.
An independent survey of 1,009 parents for the NAHT suggested 83% felt pupils should learn about the dangers of pornography in sex education lessons.
"Okay kids, don't watch porn! Else your asshole prude parents will get mad at you and you'll get grounded."
I really don't see what's wrong with this. If they were attempting to demonise pornography and prevent kids from watching it then, yes, it would be incredibly stupid. But introducing the concept of porn in a controlled environment and informing them of the potential dangers of excessive indulgence (just like they do with drugs for instance) seems like a smart idea to me.
Internet porn gives young people an unrealistic idea of how quickly a plumber will come to your house.
I giggled.
There's no space in this world for prudishness. Teenagers will always look at porn; that's life. I have a teenage son, and he looks at porn (Not figured out clearing history yet!). It doesn't bother me to be honest. If he can get his kicks watching other people at it, he can't be getting someone pregnant or catching an STI. I'd be far more woried if he were watching ultra-violence.
Honestly? I love this dad/mom! Best attitude ever :v:
Honestly? I love this dad/mom! Best attitude ever :v:
Then there is the opposite spectrum where they will have you have gay removal therapy aka torture if you "Sin" by looking at a man a certain way.
Rather than make it out to be a 'danger' they should focus on how the pornography industry plays upon sexual ideals and how not to buy into it too much
i thought the internet and the chans killed the porn industry, why else would people like prendant law exist [editline]20th May 2013[/editline] i really dont understand what the article is really worried about, kids all develop at different rates, they'll figure out where to look at porn when they're ready
I dont get what is wrong about children looking at porn. They are just looking at one of the most natural acts a human can do. I guess I could agree if they would be looking at elf-amputee-scat-porn, but that is not the case in this article.
Missing the point.
I really don't get what's so wrong with teens looking at porn myself
Missing the point.
Oh my god, there are no dangers of porn. You watch it and you jerk off, it's that simple. Masturbation is one of the few things in life that literally has no downsides whatsoever.
Missing the point
Young children should hear about the dangers of pornography as soon as they have access to the internet, leading head teachers say. An independent survey of 1,009 parents for the NAHT suggested 83% felt pupils should learn about the dangers of pornography in sex education lessons. just like telling them of the "dangers" of weed, once they find out they were fucking lying and there is NO danger, they're going to get into it. There is no DANGER to porn, fucking stop it, Jesus Christ.
Missing the fucking point. FFS, they aren't demonizing porn so quit getting your panties in a twist. It's talking about PROPERLY EDUCATING young kids on what porn is so when they first see it for themselves by accident or on purpose they aren't confused as fuck and end up growing up with a distorted view on sex. They aren't attacking your "precious porn" so quit crying about it.
just like telling them of the "dangers" of weed, once they find out they were fucking lying and there is NO danger, they're going to get into it. There is no DANGER to porn, fucking stop it, Jesus Christ.
That's completely different, I'd agree with you if they said "if you watch porn your dick will fall off" or some stupid shit like that, but they didn't, this is nothing like the dangers of weed, at all.
Because porn is fake as all hell, and to a young mind who doesn't know shit about sexuality can give an entirely false impression of how sex is supposed to be, as well as confidence issues because people in porn are usually way bigger than average and last impossibly long.
These problems exist in all types of fictional media. It's all a simple matter of being corrected. It's not like if our minds are irreversible.
Honestly, I think just let them watch porn at whatever age they start and then when they get older, middle or highschool start educating properly about sex and what it is really like. I mean, thats what happens with movies and magazines. You don't hide your kid from the unrealistic expectations in those, you just teach them as they get older that they are ridiculous and no girl can be that skinny without photoshop etc.
I think any misconceptions kids might learn from porn would have been a lot more dangerous back in the days before the internet. Today if they're unsure about themselves regarding something they've seen in porn all they have to do is google, e.g. "is my penis too small" and they'll soon find that they're perfectly normal without having to have an awkward conversation with their parents.
Nine out of 10 [of those asked by the NAHT] felt all equipment allowing internet access should have a default block on pornographic websites.
They need to start making these questions a little more realistic. Would you support a web filter meant to block pornographic materials, but also accidentally blocks regular websites and ignores pornographic ones?
I thought this was obvious: Too much of anything is bad, particularly when young.
So what if a kid sees internet porn? At best he'll aroused. At mild he'll be grossed out. And at worst, his computer will catch a virus.
I bet they'd let those same kids watch a violent gory movie 10 times in a row or let them play a hyper-violent game before they'd let them watch a bit of harmless porn. Ridiculous double standards. I was exposed to pornography when I was very young (by other kids ironically) and it never had the slightest impact on me at all. I know I don't represent everyone in this world but shit, this extreme prudish attitude is just starting to piss me off. It's natural, I see no problems with it. Children are becoming sexual or at least becoming more aware of it at younger and younger ages these days, and I think that rather than trying to constantly shield them from all of these 'bad' things, we should be trying to control the exposure and help them understand what they're seeing as they show that curiosity. What are they hoping for, honestly... that every kid out there will have absolutely no idea about sex, their own body or what's involved until the exact millisecond they turn 18 and then bam, just like that "Hey kids here's how sex works and here's a few hours of porn to check out go and have fun hey". Come on. No idea if I'm making any sense here... I just think this is all being made into way bigger a deal than it really is.
Protip, CTRL+SHIFT+N.
i go on facebook a shit ton at school so i use ctrl + shift + n since clearing the history is annoying and obvious and people wonder "how and why were you able to do that so fast" they'll never know
all they have to do is google, e.g. "is my penis too small" and they'll soon find that they're perfectly normal
Y-yeah that i-is what I did and everything turned out a-alright.
kinda true. there's still the rather large issue with an unrealistic representation of women that kids can get into their heads because of porn, especially with regards to tits
That doesn't really only affect kids, but it's also not a certain thing, kinda varies from person to person. I wouldn't worry so much about that.
Most people will come across SOME sort of pornography in their lifetime... you can't just warn them and expect them to be porn-proof... Besides, any person has a penis or vagina... if you shouldn't see genitals, then that means you should mutilate your own so you can't see anything "erotic"
