I knew it. We're probably not going to hear anything about episode 3 until 2011. Maybe then it will be released? We can only hope.
Because we are hardcore fans
If you were hardcore fans you would trust in Valve.
WHY does everyone get so emotional over episode 3? Honestly I wanna play it too, but hell I can wait for it.
The longer we wait, the better (and probably longer) it's going to be. Does anyone really want the conclusion of the Half-Life 2 saga to be rushed?
Yeah, they have around 150 members, only a few are working on the updates for L4D and TF2, so what the fuck are they doing.
Valve has over 250 employees. They said the L4D2 team was only 60 people, and I imagine the TF2 team is about 15-20 people. So that leaves 170 other people doing god knows what else.
Another possibility I just thought of: Perhaps they're working on some neat DirectX 11 features in a highly updated version of Source for use with Episode 3/HL3? Also, the big update to Counter-Strike: Source might also be a selling point assuming that isn't out before this is released.
They haven't even touched DirectX 10. What makes you think they'll do DirectX 11?
They need to scrap source, it's an out of date engine by todays standards. My guess is they are either making source 3 or revamping the engine, hence the long wait.
Source 3? Okay let's just skip 2 :downs:
That's because they're too busy making zombie games.
I wasn't even expecting it to get released this year. I would have been shocked if it had.
it's valve. learn valve time http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Valve_Time
This would apply if they told us a time, which they haven't.
Source 3? Okay let's just skip 2 :downs:
Source = HL2 engine Source 2 = TF2/Portal/L4D(2) engines Source 3 = next.
Expected.
Because we are hardcore fans
o mang yur so hurdcur about your vidya gaymz
Source 3? Okay let's just skip 2 :downs:
OB is pretty much source2
We've waited 3 years FFS
We've waited 3 years FFS
big deal it's not like you're the only one waiting and it's not like we won't complain about every aspect of the game eventually
what a suprise

Yeah but you act like you're the only one waiting.
WHY does everyone get so emotional over episode 3? Honestly I wanna play it too, but hell I can wait for it.
Because they said they would make ep3 3 years ago yet we havn't seen any evidence on it yet, their too busy making l4d3.
I have to admit, for an EPISODE, this is WAY WAY too long. They better be making it extra long and beter be revamping the source engine for this game, or i don't see the point, it will be a huge loss by valve to not do at least a engine revamp. I think i might be able to deal with no episode 3 by the end of the year, but if i don't hear ANY INFORMATION, no screenshots, videos, release dates(quarters, whatever works), i'm going to have a HUGE bitch fit.
I hope this year they release Portal 2, Counter Strike 2 or Prospero, i don't want any L4D3 shit. [editline]11:24PM[/editline] I don't think they will not show anything this year. Did you noticed they release games every year?
What part of "Episode" doesn't valve understand? An episode is basically a game split into smaller chunks , so that each peice can be developed seperately and released QUICKER than a standard full game.
They've already had over 2 years to make the next one. It should be released in 2010...
Fetching Gabe coffee, sandwiches, donuts, and fast food.
Fixed.
What part of "Episode" doesn't valve understand? what?i waited 3 years for ep3 just to figure out i have to wait another year for it?
Half-Life is dead, People. It's a aging dinosaur of a franchise that's been surpassed by now. Have you read some of the interviews with Valve lately? They have not even touched it since EP2. You can tell they're sick and tired of working on Half-Life and want to move on to greater things. Even the modding community is dying, With disgusting hacks like Fakefactory being the only ones releasing anything lately. Come on people. Stop clinging to Half-Life's dead body. No one cares about Gordon Freeman or Alyx Vance anymore. We don't want to see them again. Move on and get with the times already.

Remember Episode 2 trailer with Alyx hanging from the bridge? That never happens in the game. The speed at which they change things that don't work out is just immense. They've got loads of money and they can easily be developing episode 3. And when it's released, it will be so mindblowingly awesome that we will all die.
