It's probably because Gabe's fingers keep hitting a bunch of keys at once
No matter how awesome EP3 is, we all know it's STILL going to end on a cliff hanger. It's just not Valve's style to actually tie up ends for us. That's why we keep buying their games.
Oh god. Why!? TELL ME WHY!?
I remember Gabe or some dev person saying Episode 3 was probably going to be longer than HL2 + HL2:EP1 + HL2:EP2- I think.
If that's true then it's not an episode?
I stop'd caring about the EP3 release date near the end of '08, I know it's going to come out I just don't give a fuck when anymore.
I honestly didn't expect Ep3 this year anyway. Until I actually hear something from Valve, I'm concidering it TBA.
Pretty much my reaction to this as well. Valve will get it done, and when they do, we'll all be blown the fuck away by how Valve come through for us again in delivering a quality product.
Because we are hardcore fans
So am I. Yet I don't crucify them when I get no news on EP3. Honestly I just trust they will release it in my lifetime. So I'll just wait, and when it comes around I'll buy it. That simple.
Valve has over 250 employees. They said the L4D2 team was only 60 people, and I imagine the TF2 team is about 15-20 people. So that leaves 170 other people doing god knows what else.
Programming Steam/Doing Steam Support/Working on the Cafe Program/IceFrog's Secret Project/Maybe another secret project AND finally EP3?
Programming Steam/Doing Steam Support/Working on the Cafe Program/IceFrog's Secret Project/Maybe another secret project AND finally EP3?
My favorite language is Java.
They need to scrap source, it's an out of date engine by todays standards. My guess is they are either making source 3 or revamping the engine, hence the long wait.
Source is a tiny bit out of date, but it's not so out of date they should can it. Look at Left 4 Dead 2. It has amazing weather effects, lighting, improved water effects, and a lot more. Sure it's no Unreal 3 or CryEngine, but it looks pretty damn good for it's age. Seeing the difference in graphical quality from HL2/EP1 to Episode 2/Portal/TF2, i'm sure they've got something up their sleeves for Episode 3. (Still praying for better water and another update to the havok physics)
Valve hasn't made a good game since 2007.
Valve hasn't made a good game since 2007.
Agreed.
Valve hasn't made a good game since 2007.
Both Left 4 Deads are way too mediocre.
All I want is a picture of actual content inthe game :(
Valve hasn't made a good game since 2007.
I thought I was the only one who thought this, yay.
Valve hasn't made a good game since 2007.
I think that both Left4Deads were good games, they just really weren't good games by Valve's standards. Compared to what Valve usually puts out, l4d is fairly mediocre.
So what was the point of episodes then? Because the original plan was for them to come out regularly, instead we have 2 episodes released within 16 months of each other and then 3+ years for the next one.
I'm not suprised, but i still think EP3/HL3 will be the best game of all time. I'm sure of it.
Fetching Gabe]/b] coffee, sandwiches, donuts, and fast food.
fixed [editline]05:57PM[/editline]
fixed
No editing? -.-
I remember Gabe or some dev person saying Episode 3 was probably going to be longer than HL2 + HL2:EP1 + HL2:EP2- I think.
No, they said the wait for it to be finished would be longer than the gap between HL2 and EP1 plus EP1 and EP2.
The episodes are Half-Life 3.
I'm happy if they just release a trailer or two.
A trailer usually means a more or less close release Which ain't happening! .. :(
