You guys do realize we still owe $18 trillion in debt.
Most of it is money owed to the US itself through various things like Social Security, etc.
And the drop in oil prices is being caused, in large part, by an expansion of oil production in the US, which decreases the need for Russian oil.
If you think this sudden, conveniently timed expansion of US oil production isnt intended specifically to knock down the oil price to hurt Russia, you're naive
Nope. The US isn't some autocratic shithole like Venezuela or Russia, we don't have state controlled oil companies. Obama didn't call up the Secretary of Oil and tell him to pump more crude. The US shale boom has been in the making for almost a decade, some of those fields were being explored years ago.
But regardless, OPEC (SA and Qatar mostly) are the ones holding oil prices down. SA gets to fuck with Iran and US wildcatters, sounds nice except the damage is extremely localized and minor for the US where as this is causing full blown panic in one trick pony petro-states. The joke is though that the price will have to come down even further and last longer if they want to kill US shale oil.
Eagle Creek is still in the black as low as $50, Bakken breaks even in the $60s along with Permian. Exploration most definitely has halted though, but a lot of these companies could survive with reduced prices for a while. Not to mention people act as if though these companies can't just reduce output and wait.
P.P.S. Hey, USA makes exact same shit like what's happening in Ukraine all over the world but somehow gets away with it. (Well tbh I'd rather live in US than RU)
Sanctions on US will destabilize the world. Which is what Russian government doesn't quite get. You can't go "BUT USA DOES IT TOO AND NOTHING HAPPENS" (directed at Russian gov, not you) if you're third world-grade shit economy that exports resources and imports everything else due to utter inability to maintain production without fucking stealing everything that isn't nailed down and ruining everything because of it. Because even if USA does all the same shit, they can get away with it because there's no one in the world who would like to bury their own economy by sanctioning an economic powerhouse, Russia, on the other hand, can be sanctioned by everyone and their dog.
I can kinda understand when drunkard plumber uncle Ivan says this shit, but the president saying this kind of stuff is way too much, and government's actions seem to prove that this 'regime' genuinely believes it.
You're insane. It's OPEC members selling oil at discounts because US production, which has been steadily increasing over time is finally threatening OPEC. They want to silence competition from US shale producers. In fact, US oil exports to Asia has stopped because of cheaper M.E. oil. It harms U.S. oil producers.
They're struggling to keep their market due to the US selling it at a cheaper rate. And I love it.
'Hey guys, you told me that 21 century would be the golden age of humanity, of globalization and overall progress. Guys?'
All I wanted from my life is to work on semi-interesting job, pay taxes, hang out with friends, surf net and play videogames. Why can't we just get along without fucking up everything for everyone non-involved?
No because that involves leaving people alone and the world can't allow that yet. Sorry.

I like this guy. He needs to hold power somewhere, his ideas are great.

I love how every second-third post in RU sector of net is "PUTIN IS BEST FUCK WEST" or something.
Anyway, I wanted to get out of here when all Crimea shit started but guess what, Canada denied me visa with no given reason. :)
You could probably claim refugee status at the rate Russia is going and how different your opinion is from the rest of Russias

Something actually has to be done to tell the Russian government to fuck off. We've tried saying stop for years but they don't care.

I actually consider this every now and then, especially when Ruble hits new historical lows every week or so. How hard is it to get a refugee status in Finland if you are currently residing there?
Fat chance, most of those foreigners who approve of Russia's current regime would never consider actually living there. My roommate is of Russian descent but has EU citizenship, he always talks about stuff happening in Russia, trying to portray some ridiculous things in positive light, but he said that he'd never even think of living there.
Russia's a shithole only an idiot would want to live there. I'm just a devils advocate.

Pretty much sums up a lot of peoples lives here in the US, hell the West in general. Ever try to move to the US? I know you mentioned Canada denied your visa, any luck with us?

its not that we hate you or anything personally, its that too many people are hanging on to last century's values, i mean it took a massive couple world wars to get over the 19th century's values, plus we still can't trust ourselves not to weaponize every fucking thing we invent
Hasn't America been through two recessions in the last decade?

That's the point, now begin a bloody uprising against Putin like we planned. America!!!

If you're going to say "fucked", say it. If you aren't, then don't. This middle-of-the-line wording doesn't work.

Try westwards toward Europe...
If you have some money on the side(1-2k$) ask for a tourist visa or something like that for norway/finland/baltics/etc.
Once you're in a EU+EEA country you can travel freely with no controls; then choose a capital(like Berlin for example), take a few weeks of rent through Airbnb or something and apply for political asylum or something like that. It'll take some time I suppose, but perhaps in the meantime you can earn an income either legally(although I suppose you'd require a work pass from the gov't of that country or smthing); or work in the shadow economy I.e. you work with no paperwork, get money payd out without the employee paying you any taxes.
Depending on the country, as exemplified in the map above, the shadow economy can make up a seizable percentage of the total; so it will be relatively easy to find employment, especially in cities with very low unemployment rates such as Nurnberg.
Speaking of immigration, I have been considering moving to Australia for a while, even before all this shit started, since i hate winters, and they have programs for specialists of my kind, and simply because i love this country. All i need now is to save a bit more money and get a year or two of work experience in addition to my current year. Then if nothing will change (most likely won't) i'd rather say goodbye to my dear country.
