So what problem does this DRM-like protection actually solve?
You wouldn't download a keyboard and mouse? EDIT: FUCKING NINJA
Get the new Scroll Wheel(TM) DLC for just $39,99 You are complaining? Fucking entitled gamers thinking they are entitled to a scroll wheel.
As if you would ever need 5600 DPI.
DPI is very important for using large resolutions.
Printed 3D mouses. Nah I don't know.
That wouldn't work. I mean, sure. You could print the frame and the pieces, but you couldn't make it work unless you had the hardware chips.
Why does device software need an account activation? What the flying fuck. "Cloud" is bullshit. That should be optional.
Apparently Razer thinks that mouse piracy is rampant. I immediately know of the other thing they could of done: Serialize the mice to the software or make it act as a security dongle. Equally as dick but makes more fucking sense than always-on DRM for a motherfucking mouse....
DPI is very important for using large resolutions.
but even with those 6 monitor eyefinity setups 5600DPI probably isn't needed. I guess you could argue future proofing but really it's just gimmicky marketing that unfortunately works and takes attention off of more important aspects of a mouse
Well I was going to go download this mouse off the pirate bay, but I guess not now.
Hey, they are saving the gaming industry after all
This software is actually was made in the thought that they wanted to data mine the people that use the mice. I bet that they thought that a lot of software companies are doing this why not us? There is really no other reason why. I love my trackball Logitech M570 mouse so there is no reason why I would buy a Razor mouse in the first place, now this news just killed any reason why to buy any Razor product.
As if you would ever need 5600 DPI.
How else are you going to make your tank turret spin hilariously fast?
I doubt they intended for it to be DRM, they thought it would be a neat service and they just made some terrible design decisions and overlooked the problems that could arise.
I doubt they intended for it to be DRM, they thought it would be a neat service and they just made some terrible design decisions and overlooked the problems that could arise.
So basically, Hanlon's razor
So I went to their site and all i could do is shake my head their mice look so fucking auuugh I mean I had a razer before, it was very comfy but not nearly as the g600 I use now or g700 I used to use.
I've owned 3 Razer Lycosa keyboards. All of them would miss keystrokes. One of them, the media player button was messed up and was constantly launching itunes.
"i fcuking hate these bastards with physical drm on a mouse" It's their version of keeping a your mouse settings backed up to keep your mouse from needing dedicated storage on the mouse. They fucked up their implemention, sure, but it's not them saying "wow we sure are getting a lot of people who pirate this mice lets put on some always online drm because we all know how well that works out" Also you guys seem to not actually even read the article
Third, while it's true that Synapse has an offline mode, it's completely unusable until everything else has been connected via registration.
They say they had to keep bumping up the storage on their mice, which increased price. Honestly, how much space can a key config take up? If you need to keep increasing storage on that, then your formatting is shit and your programmer should be fired.
Here's what the person shelling out nearly $400 for just a Razer keyboard has in store for them:
he has no right to complain about anything, ever
This is worse than Diablo 3.
I imagine that physically storing data within the mouse itself would be a hell of a lot more convenient.
this is what logitech does and it works great they're creating a complicated solution to a very simple issue. It's like trying to catch a mouse... with a heat sensing sentry turret that shoots mouse traps. Why not just put the mouse traps on the ground and that's all?
Wow, I'm never going to buy a Razer product now.
Don't you just hate it how when you take just your mouse or keyboard and plug into another computer somewhere else for a hardcore gaming session on someone else's rig and have to reset all your special settings? Well now all you have to do is download and install this software, log in to a server (assuming it is up and running) and just download your settings again! So easy!
If this is the actual reason, why can't they have a tiny flash-memory inside the mouse that it stores your settings into? Then when Windows has finished installing the mouse, it automatically applies your settings to the software.
it's great: download Synapse and create a free Razer account, then customize your peripherals and your settings will be saved to Razer servers automatically, meaning you can take your Razer gear anywhere and simply download Synapse to have access to your custom configuration
Wouldn't it be a hell of alot better if the keyboard just had a flash card in it where it saved the settings?? durpdurp. Edit: crap.
why do people keep buying razor garbage the hardware is ok but overpriced as shit and their software has always been atrocious
Damn glad I went with a Logitech when my old mouse died I was pretty close to getting a Razer no way I want to support a company being this dumb
why do people keep buying razor garbage the hardware is ok but overpriced as shit and their software has always been atrocious
b/c buying razor means saving computer gaming!!
They say they had to keep bumping up the storage on their mice, which increased price. Honestly, how much space can a key config take up? If you need to keep increasing storage on that, then your formatting is shit and your programmer should be fired.
Assuming their coding isn't so bloated that it makes the DV-NTSC video codec look lightweight (and unfortunately, it probably is not) you can't advertise a mouse with a whopping 64kb of onboard storage for backing up your macros onto.
The guaranteed doom of PC gaming
Yeah that's fucking perfect. What's next? A Toaster that needs constant Keys to be fed to it per toast. $5 per key. DLC for your fridge that makes the freezer box work. Fuck it how about driving your car but you need to pay micro-transactions to make it start, break and reverse every time.
