Except they leaked shit about people that are in consenting open relationships. "Hacktavists" are not really helping anyone dude. Wanna help people? Do pen-testing for a living.
Wouldn't people in open relationships just use tinder or something?
Finally!
Damn, rip Ashley Maddison. I really didn't want it to happen, 32 million people got in trouble. But at least the fraudent Ashley Madison will be gone.
Lol, it still says "Over 38,920,000 anonymous members!" on the main page of their website.
The hackers had been threatening for a while that they'd leak it. Their reasoning was to do with the fact that the site requires you to pay to remove your account when they never would actually wipe anything.
tbh any site that even requires you to PAY THEM to remove an account deserves to go bankrupt / hacked anyways
For example:
Some guy got robbed and murdered in his home. Police investigation shows that he was a Pedophile who does inhumane things to children.
Now Do you feel bad for the Pedo who got murdered?
Do you feel that the murderer did good?
Cool analogy, do you advocate for the death penalty too?
The fuck kind of argument is that?
Has anyone made a redacted and searchable version of this yet?
Would be a good tool to check if you or someone you know is compromised.
Accessing private computer systems and collecting data is a crime. There is nothing to be said about this.
It's a crime with the purpose of Exposing Immoral actions from a Companies customers and the company themselves.
Which one is the most immoral out of the three is not really objective.
For example:
Some guy got robbed and murdered in his home. Police investigation shows that he was a Pedophile who does inhumane things to children.
Now Do you feel bad for the Pedo who got murdered?
Do you feel that the murderer did good?
What I'm saying. Both things are bad and in the case of AM, I don't feel bad for the people that use it for cheating on their partners, nor do I feel bad for the company, or even for the guy who leaked it when he gets arrested.
Here's an alternative take on why crimes do not justify crimes:
Say there's a poor child who steals food because he can't afford any, and after he is caught he's shot and killed. Does that mean he deserved to be shot in the face?
What I was arguing with my mom earlier today is that simply being on the website does not equal intentions or subsequent actions. Sure, it's awful, but context definitely matters in determining the extent of awfulness.
And even regardless of any subsequent actions, no one deserves to have their finances ruined and identity stolen based on using a website to cheat, and no one who was on this website should be past redemption. To do so is to be prejudiced without specific context.
Now that the information is out there, these couples can talk about it and decide on where to go from here. Personally, I think it is beyond redemption because this is beyond "it just kind of happened", these people paid to be on this site and they signed up with the intention to find someone to have an affair with, and if my spouse did this, I'd leave in a heartbeat.

Let's reword this for my example:
Say there's a poor child who steals food because he can't afford any, and after he is caught he's shot and killed. Does that mean he deserved to be shot in the face?

Personally, I think it is beyond redemption because this is beyond "it just kind of happened", the child committed towards stealing that food with the intention of eating for free, and if another like-minded child stole food he deserves the same treatment!
Now, of course I'm not saying you're advocating that behavior, but I'm making an analogy for judging regardless of context. You have no idea what kind of people went on Ashley Madison.
I know a person who worked themselves to death and was never able to see his wife and kids. He ended up falling in love with someone at work and ended up delving into his temptations once in the midst of his suicidal tendencies and loneliness.
The idea that man slept with another person is a lot different than the sliminess most people would associate with cheaters. I know douchebag cheaters too, but the important thing is context with any moral crime.
It's pretty fucking acceptable given the context.
[editline]19th August 2015[/editline]
they do. not only are they cheating scumbags, they were warned a while ago that their shit was going to be taken and posted. dumb and arrogant
So if I warned you in advance that I was going to stab you, it'd be morally A-okay to stab you then?
I would argue with you further but you are not being rational or objective, and you resort to emotive arguments to get your point across. Please try again when you learn to control your emotions.

Gawker's already started outing high-profile people from the hack: https://archive.is/DsbZY First victim is Josh Duggar.
I guess I can't say I'm surprised (about Gawker, that is; I didn't even know who this guy was until now).

They're okay with it if they can get their hands on the data and post about it (and effectively monetize it) first. (For instance, they advocated that you should watch the Hulk Holgan sex tape.) They can look like the cool guys outing out phonies with this breach!
However you're committing horrible personal sex crimes for looking at the leaked "Fappening" photos.
