Hershey's attempts to block the sale of Cadbury in New York - but here's why Cadbury tastes so much
Lindt is some of the best chocolate going imo. But then again I'm a massive chocoholic like Xubs so there's very little I don't like...

This stuff is awesome too!
i prefer my chocolate to not taste like charcoal
I've had both and personally after having Cadbury's chocolate, I can't go back to Hershey's, it's like eating chocolate flavored cardboard as compared to the velvety smooth Cadbury chocolates that I've had multiple times in the past.
You know about Belgian chocolate's reputation... That's what I've eaten my whole life and mildly enjoyed it.
But the day I went to Oxford and ate Cadbury chocolate for the first time, it was one of the best things I had ever eaten. I fell in love with it instantly. I'd go back to England just to buy myself some Cadbury. My eyes are filling up with tears just thinking about it, oh my God.
Cadbury is owned by Kraft (or whatever it is called nowadays) so I don't think they'll take this lying down.
Mondelēz is the name. I end up looking at their brand list every few months. I always get astounded on how Milka, Oreo and Toblerone are apparently owned by the same company.
I always just buy local chocolate, more expensive but its so good
milka chocolate best chocolate
I went to the US for the first time a year ago and I bought like 1 kg of Hersheys to my hotel room but couldnt eat it cause it tasted like shit compared to the chocolate I was used to at home. Now I know why.

Yeah, Hershey's is a bad choice. I liked it as a kid but once you have proper chocolate, it just tastes vomity.

Check your non-vomit-chocolate privilege, Europeans.
I'm going to be dead honest: I've never, ever had Cadbury's chocolate in my entire life. I love Hershey's, though.
I will be back later with a report on my Cadbury adventure, seeing as I am now interested in what Hershey's is attempting to stop.
Hershey is like Cadbury's pissed off, waxy, brittle, unfriendly cousin
[editline]24th January 2015[/editline]
Sorry hershey but cadbury blows you the fuck out of the water, always has and always will

It was during christmas so there was ads everywhere for Hershey's kisses and stuff so I figured it would be top notch shit
Johnny you're so wrong. Cadbury is literally milkier, melts in your mouth. Try putting a piece of hershey's chocolate in your mouth. That shit will get soft but will stay in one piece forever.
[editline]24th January 2015[/editline]
I mean Hershey's is good if you like your chocolate to be hard and chalky lol
Karl Fazer and Marabou, the top tier.
Cadbury is slowly being corrupted by kraft. I stopped buying cadbury since kraft started lowing the quality much like most things these days. I used to love ginsters slices but now there is little content inside and the pastry tastes terrible.

I didn't say Hershey's was any good (I said it sucked) but Cadbury's is barely better. It's disgustingly sweet.

There's something about ~100% cocoa that's sort of nice

It's the most popular because it's the most popular. Most people have probably never even had anything else.
70%+ cocoa masterrace

Tried Hershey's once and my closest approximation would be to a mixture of cardboard and sawdust with the vaguest hint that it may once have been near some cocoa. Cadbury's is overly sweet IMO but at least it tastes a bit like chocolate.

Good point. I suppose we're supposed to have small servings of it though ...

Also that lindt shit is bangin', but I can never find more than like 85% cocoa. Didn't think 99% was possible :v:

Cadbury's is okay but Hershey's tastes so bloody bad. It's like somebody took diet hot chocolate powder and mixed it with UHT milk.
Not sure if this is off topic, but this whole thing reminds me of an old 50's Gangster tale. One gang has control of a territory while the other gang is slowly growing. We're gonna see some chocolateshed before this is over, I bet.
oh man, the chocolate wars are among us.
Also I cant get enough of Toblerones.. I've had my first one during Xmas and I've been hooked ever since, So good.
You guys want to taste real chocolate, them crazy Belgian freaks is where it's at.
I tasted a Hershey's once. I nearly threw up because all I could taste was dust and chemical aftertaste. It's so horrible compared to the stuff we got here.
Hershey's milk chocolate is usually what everyone's favorite is here in SoCal because all we do is go to the beach and make smores in the bonfire pits.
Oh, it may not be very good but it's durable as fuck chocolate. One time I compressed some Hershey's milk chocolate down into a .38 bullet, and then I fired it out of a revolver at a steel plate.
That plate still has this weird brown stain on it that everyone thinks is shit.

Fuck, i'd love Digestives in chocolate. Closest I can think of in the UK is Cadbury Biscuit. But thats more shortbread than digestive.
As a Brit who is very happy to laud my delicious Cadbury's over filthy Ameripoors, I have to admit that every time I've been to France or Belgium I've been surprised at how much better even their cheap shit is than our regular stuff.
Lindt is so much better than both of these.

The vomity taste is actually intentional, if I remember my chocolate history right. You see, back when chocolate was a true luxury, they used to make a cheaper form of chocolate for the peasants. And then when they finally worked out how to remove the vomity aftertaste, people complained because their chocolate tasted different.
In case you're actually wondering why Hershey's tastes so weird compared to any actual chocolates, it's because the manufacturing process partially polymerizes the fats in the milk, producing butyric acid. Butyric acid is the component in human vomit that makes it smell like vomit.
The reason they do this is because the Hershey process for chocolate production allows the use of older milk, which is cheaper. Lypolization stabilizes the milk to prevent further decomposition and bacterial growth, and increases its shelf life. It's a byproduct of making cheaper chocolate, but they just never got rid of it.
