Duct tape isn't wildlife. We need to fill it with wildlife. Specifically endangered wildlife. We will win this war on nature. :argh:
Breed fish that eat oil problem solved
idiots
Breed fish that eat oil problem solved
Breed oil that eat fish. :smug:
Breed fish that eat oil problem solved
That would be AWESOME.
So what's going to happen when the pressure builds up and millions of golf balls shoot out of the ocean at 200km/hr
Tiger Woods will be out of a job.

Somethings making a mess in the ocean, so why not get more shit and throw it in the water? Kinda seems like "The oceans dead to us now".

Guys, we should melt the ice caps to stop the oil. Think about it, all that water would put all that oil so much under pressure that it would turn in to diamonds and block itself off. That way we can still burn the garbage to use for power.

LETS USE A GIANT CORK!
This would not work. Take a lesson from the North Pacific Gyre, garbage in the ocean is a bad thing. Though the garbage would be deep enough that photodegradation would likely not occur, dumping tons of garbage into the ocean is not good at all. All sorts of fish and mammals would fuck with it, crabs and other bottom dwelling crusties would fuck with it. It's just not good. Seriously, Humanity can build a 27 kilometer long particle accelerator, but when it comes to fixing an oil leak the best two things we can come up with are nuclear bombs and garbage? What the hell?
A 3rd grader could tell you that putting a dome over something jutting A LOT of pressure upward that far down in the ocean wouldn't work.
I'm no petroleum engineer, But the best thing to do at this point from what I know, would be to blow it up with conventional explosives. If you can get enough bang down there the well should collapse on itself and stop.
I just saw this ingenious solution yesterday. Apparently, hay floats in water and does a good job in soaking up crude oil. It should be affordable and readily available too. I'd stand behind this instead of trashing the bottom of the ocean or whatever.

It's like a clean up solution though. I know its not gonna patch anything up, and I hope effective solutions are implemented for that issue.
Of course!
How did they NOT think of this sooner?
How could they even think of this at all?!
Both sides are idiots US: It seems your oil rig has exploded, BP. BP: Don't worry, I got it. US: Are you sure? BP: Yeah -- US: BP, it doesn't seem to be getting any better BP: Don't worry bro I got it handled. US: It really doesn't look like it. BP: I'm just gonna, you know, fix it. US: You're the one who caused this mess in the first place. BP: Bro just lemme handle this. US: Fine, -- BP: I tried putting a big ass dome over one of the leaks but it didn't work US: You don't seem to be able to handl- BP: Hold up a sec bro, I got something here. US: ... Is that a huge hunk of trash you just found? BP: No man! This'll solve our shit right good! US: ... Russia: blow it all up
I jut got the image in my head of the characters from Axis Powers Hetalia discussing this problem with a slit-eyed shifty-looking Chinese representative of BP. What's sad is that that's exactly hoiw the conversation would go between them.
Postal could sit on it.
Next up: fixing economy by printing wast numbers of 1000 dollar bills.
Nuke it. [editline]yeah[/editline] Seriously.
Jesus. What's next? "Let's make a huge fucking suction tube that filters the crude oil out from the water, and shoots the less dirty water back somewhere far away. Then the tube lifts and we clean the crude oil." *implement* "Oh shit wait the fish." I say we just go with OvB's plan.
What's the Analysis of detonating a nuke on it? Aren't the seismic waves caused by it supposed to be enough to cause the holes to close by themselves? There's environmental damage of course, but it can't be more than millions of gallons of oil leaking out would cause. And it's not like we've never detonated nukes under water.

Why not just put a new oil rig over it and start collecting the oil leaking out?
