Mcdonald's banned trans fats a while ago....
Negative. They still have it in their burgers.
This seems rather difficult to enforce.
What purpose does this serve?
Protecting morons from themselves.
If everyone made their own choices in society as to what is acceptable and not, this place would be fucked.

"It's a matter of personal choice!"
Also when I say the thread title from the main page I thought it said he banned transsexuals.
I thought he banned trains.
You don't understand.
Trans-fats are banned because they're TOXIC, not just because they make you fat. And they don't affect the taste of the food, so why WOULDN'T they be banned? Do you want the choice to be fed rat poison too?
Who cares, it's the peoples' choice to eat such things. They should know that burgers and burritos are fucking unhealthy. This is socialism in action. Sure, it's a good idea, but it just opens the doors to regulate anything. The whole idea of fucking being free and capitalist is to make our own choices for our health. What's next? The government will tell me what I can and cannot eat? What I can and cannot wear? When I can breathe and when I can not?

WHAT THE FUCK IS THE FAIRE GOING TO DO!
Jesus fuck.

All fairly reasonable.

Are you a fucking idiot? Also I'd love to be able to eat what I want without trans fats going in my body. I don't see how you relate this to socialism, because you're entirely wrong. I mean it's great that your listening to your parents but how about you form your own informed opinions.

If the food, the clothes and the gas all kill you then yes, they should tell you not to use them.
People only have enough mental capacity for their own lives, so they entrust the government to discover and protect them against harmful things. Wether that be terrorists, trans fats, carbon monoxide or killer short-shorts.

I suppose you also believe drug prohibition is a great idea and it's working so well, am I right?

You can still get nachos and burgers, they'll taste the same, and have healthier fat. What's the problem here? The only people losing are the restaurants that have to cook with more expensive ingredients.
People only have enough mental capacity for their own live
If you were correct on that then how would we have any form of government let alone parents?

It's a preservative.
Or maybe it will help prevent people from having heart diseases.
Because the government needs to regulate what you eat?
Are you really that helpless?

did you just say socialism in action oh my god you are adorable
I suppose you also believe drug prohibition is a great idea and it's working so well, am I right?
Way to be on topic and bring up totally related points :bravo:
Hey idiots the reason this is done is because there is no choice. There's no choice between trans-fatty burgers and no trans-fatty burgers. Often they'll deceive you by saying there are no trans-fats but meaning that something else on it contained it anyway. That's the fucking point.
Don't use dumb shit like it's my body I can eat whatever I want because that's not the issue.
Go arnold
I suppose you also believe drug prohibition is a great idea and it's working so well, am I right?
No, I don't, the two issues aren't related.
Prohibition of useless killer toxins from the moronic masses is a good thing.
Prohibition of highly addictive opiates breeds underground crime. However they should be controlled, zero regulation would result in said moronic masses killing themselves because they don't know any better.
It's unlikely we will see Trans Fat cartels killing each other in the streets.
See what happens when you assume.

Wouldn't it be better to just fine businesses that advertise no-transfat and actually end up using it?
If you want trans-fat's, go to your gas station and buy their burgers. That's not outlawed at all because you know if it has or doesn't have trans-fat.
that's dumb.

And it's part of ingredients they use. I meant they'll have to use ingredients that have healthy fats instead of trans fats and those are more expensive.
If you were correct on that then how would we have any form of government let alone parents?
What? I didn't mean their own life as in just their natural continued existance. If people solely cared on survival we wouldn't have begun eatting this shit in the first place.
I meant their own lives as in their kids, their jobs, their house.. etc. They don't have time to learn about the pro's and cons of every food additive they may or may not come into contact with.
Wouldn't it be better to just fine businesses that advertise no-transfat and actually end up using it?
Easier said than done. You'd have to raid kitchens and analyze food. This is much easier to enforce because the health inspector checks only the kitchen and not the food.

Whenever some rule or law is put in place, it's never about the rule or law itself for you Americans. It's always about your paranoid delusions that the government is somehow trying to harm you or ruin your life! That they're trying to impose restrictions on you so that they can take over and make you all slaves or something!
That's not the case! This stuff they're banning is toxic. It does nothing good for you at all. It's damaging to your health!
The fact of the matter is most people aren't informed enough to make a good decision on matters like this. Most people don't know what's in the food they eat, they simply eat it! If you're not informed enough on the subject to make a rational decision, then someone else who IS informed enough should be able to make that decision for you, especially in a situation like this whereby that decision will help PROTECT you.
Regulations are there for a reason, not just to fucking make your life harder.
And it's part of ingredients they use. I meant they'll have to use ingredients that have healthy fats instead of trans fats and those are more expensive.
No, that's not it at all. They'd have to use other preservatives which are harmful in a different way.
It's the price you pay for eating trash food that stays for years but that's not relevant to a restaurant.
Keyword is restaurant, ingredients is irrelevant. It's not even an ingredient.
