I think a lot of people didn't read the article and simply replied to the thread after reading the title.
There isn't much point in adding transfat to food, because there are many, many healthier alternatives. Beef and Lamb/Mutton naturally have a bit of transfat in them, but I don't think this applies to those two things. So butter, cream, beef, and lamb and all those great things are all still OK.
Have fun with that salad fellas!
:gaybo:
See, this is what I was talking about with my first sentence.
No, that's not it at all. They'd have to use other preservatives which are harmful in a different way.
It's the price you pay for eating trash food that stays for years but that's not relevant to a restaurant.
Keyword is restaurant, ingredients is irrelevant. It's not even an ingredient.

I was thinking more bakeries and the such. I actually never really stopped to think where trans-fat comes from in a burger... Is it the oil they cook it in?
I was thinking more bakeries and the such. I actually never really stopped to think where trans-fat comes from in a burger... Is it the oil they cook it in?
It's probably a combo of the bread they use, the shortening used to cook it, and maybe the processed cheese/sauces.
If you made a burger with basic non modified bread for the bun, cooked the beef in a non-hydrogenated vegetable oil, and used real cheese then it would be relatively fine.
Wouldn't it be better to just fine businesses that advertise no-transfat and actually end up using it?
Or better yet, make restaurants that use trans-fat warn their customers first about what's in their food. If the customer still wants to eat it, then it's their own fault if they end up with health problems.
The last thing we really need is the government banning things.
Ahnold is a badass
What? I didn't mean their own life as in just their natural continued existance. If people solely cared on survival we wouldn't have begun eatting this shit in the first place.
I meant their own lives as in their kids, their jobs, their house.. etc. They don't have time to learn about the pro's and cons of every food additive they may or may not come into contact with.
I gotcha now, but saying "enough mental capacity" makes it sound like we are inherently limited

And they could make anti-trans-fat advertising campaigns to discourage people from consuming them by releasing really disgusting adverts on TV around about dinner time... kind of like the anti-smoking ads they have here:

That isn't the issue. Restaurants don't want people to know their foods have transfat.
It's mostly the french fries. Deep fried in cheap oil. Ever wonder why McDonalds fries never decompose?
I heard they sugar coat their fries, deep-fat fry them in fatty oil, and then put a shitload of salt on them.
How healthy.
Ever wonder why McDonalds fries never decompose?
That video was disgusting.
Who cares, it's the peoples' choice to eat such things. They should know that burgers and burritos are fucking unhealthy. This is socialism in action. Sure, it's a good idea, but it just opens the doors to regulate anything. The whole idea of fucking being free and capitalist is to make our own choices for our health. What's next? The government will tell me what I can and cannot eat? What I can and cannot wear? When I can breathe and when I can not?
Yeah. And it always comes on when I'm about to take a bite into some food. I'll see him squeezing all of this shit out of an artery and be like, "I'm not so hungry anymore... :geno:"

I'm not going to raise a fuss about it. Trans fats are pretty worthless anyway, you can make food that tastes just as good without them and not have to deal with excessive health risks, so they really serve no purpose but to kill people. Shit, at least cigarettes give you a buzz while they're killing you, trans fats don't do anything good.
That video was disgusting.
That's what trans fat is. Just empty fat. Not even bacteria wants it.
I'm glad this ban passed though, now I can feel a little healthier that trans fats aren't clogging my arteries whenever I eat CPK pizza.
What purpose does this serve? I'm sure Congress has good intentions on trying to get fat Americans to lose some weight (and remove a few risk factors), but what you eat should be your own choice.
