There's a strict difference between telling you what's bad for you and forcing you to not use what's bad for you. Maybe the government should just ban cigarettes. They're bad for you too.
they're workin on it shhh [editline]08:16AM[/editline]
It does disgust me with all the fake shit put in fastfood though.
thats cool dont eat there then [editline]08:20AM[/editline]
in case you guys have no idea what this is, this was Sinclair's report of the food company which wasn't regulated by the government. Meaning, this was before the FDA, and was the reason for it's creation. It's also a pretty good story. Meat companies killed any cows, sick, pregnant, or whatever, then sold them indiscriminately. Since they didn't give shit about meat security, rats and mouses freely ran and ate meat at the first opportunity, and these guy shit a lot. So what did the meat workers do? They just lazily swiped it off without caring any remaining shit in the meat. That's right, back in the 1900's, you were eating a diseased ham covered in rat shit, and you didn't know it. All because capitalism was on the boom and anything seen as "regulation" was called un-American, government oppression, and blasted upon. ""There would be meat stored in great piles in rooms; and the water from leaky roofs would drip over it, and thousands of rats would race about on it. It was too dark in these storage places to see well, but a man could run his a hand over these piles of meat and sweep off handfuls of the dried dung of rats. These rats were nuisances, and the packers would put poisoned bread out for them; they would die, and then rats, bread, and meat would go into the hoppers together." obvious to say, uncle roosevelt got very mad.
Yeah, I will agree the FDA is a good idea and regulation when it comes to food is kind of necessary, but it just depends on the amount of regulation. Let people decide if they want to buy food with trans fats in it, why do you care.

i dont get it i mean all these people are really very upset about the government banning something that has only negative effects hell, if you want you can still run out to the store and buy a bunch of trans fat shit if you want, its only restaurants
Yeah, I will agree the FDA is a good idea and regulation when it comes to food is kind of necessary, but it just depends on the amount of regulation. It's used because it's cheap as fuck and adequately replaces real ingredients. It's companies disregarding your health in favor of cheaper food.

You're not my fucking parent stop acting like you are.
Yeah and why do you care about my health. Buy shit that's not trans-fat and let me worry about what I eat.
This. Even though some people actually care doesn't mean they should care on behalf of everyone else.

Yeah and why do you care about my health. Buy shit that's not trans-fat and let me worry about what I eat.
This. Who is trans fat and let you worry about what you eat QUOTE This? What kind of people?
Yeah and why do you care about my health. Buy shit that's not trans-fat and let me worry about what I eat. You're not my fucking parent stop acting like you are.
What's the difference between this and tubercular meat? All I've heard so far is "yes, but this is going too far!!"
Yeah and why do you care about my health. Buy shit that's not trans-fat and let me worry about what I eat. You're not my fucking parent stop acting like you are.
Because while the ambulance is rushing to your trans fat induced heart attack I could actually be having a real problem over here. Your choices effect my life. We live in a society, regardless of how much you want to distance yourself from the concept it's the truth. The more you fuck up your life the more my general area sucks. I can't buy a natural meal because you're quite happy to continue on ignorantly digesting toxins. My health insurance rates go up so hospitals can pay for the reinforced beds you need, for eating that shit. There are other, perfectly acceptable and nutritious alternatives. You don't have to eat trans fats, they ain't banning milk. They are banning something that is 100% negative, unless you are a penny pinching food executive. I for one don't want people in charge of my life who's sole interest is to shovel the cheapest shite possible down my throat.
So if one trans fat molecule gets in the restaurant, the restaurant is now illegal
Read the article its says more than half a gram per serving. Why cant people read? Why are they allowed on the internet?
Orsen I realized I read a post of yours on page 1 wrong I fixed it.
Couldn't they just make the serving size ridiculously small to get around this?
Couldn't they just make the serving size ridiculously small to get around this?
In America? Oh you are a comical genius.
Who cares, it's the peoples' choice to eat such things. They should know that burgers and burritos are fucking unhealthy. This is socialism in action. Sure, it's a good idea, but it just opens the doors to regulate anything. The whole idea of fucking being free and capitalist is to make our own choices for our health. What's next? The government will tell me what I can and cannot eat? What I can and cannot wear? When I can breathe and when I can not?
yeah, because restricting something that's really bad for you and has no good purpose = slippery slope to socialism you should just not think about politics, it's obviously not your thing if the government didn't regulate anything you'd probably be dead from eating poisonous unregulated food god damn, people who bitch about regulation without even understanding the reason or purpose for regulation are fucking stupid also, this isn't socialism in action, it's government in action :downs:
Is California it's own country yet?
Not until we break off the continent.
You don't understand. Trans-fats are banned because they're TOXIC, not just because they make you fat. And they don't affect the taste of the food, so why WOULDN'T they be banned? Do you want the choice to be fed rat poison too?
yes actually, I don't want the government regulating what I can put into my body. this forum is hypocritical, the majority of you drink, smoke, do cannabis (among other things) and then you see a thread about eating fatty foods and jump on this futuristic bandwagon with laser guns that you use to shoot everything that moves. alcohol is TOXIC, nicotine is TOXIC, THC-9 is TOXIC yet in those threads it's cool to support the pro status. BUT DON'T YOU EAT FATTY FOODS YOU FUCKING AMERICAN SWINE, FAT IS SHOWN TO KILL OVER THREE BILLION CHILDREN EACH DAY.
Thing is, they're just banned in restaurants. Groceries and other places aren't affected.
Hardly anything uses trans fats now a days anyways. There's a reason why every fucking food on earth advertises on it's packaging that it's "free of trans fats!". That's because it's hardly in ANYTHING and it's a way to get a cheap dollar from the gullible who are looking to shed some pounds. It's like MSG. Sure it's out there but nothing really uses it anymore anyways.
Hardly anything uses trans fats now a days anyways.
Ooh oh oh watch out there, anything that includes cream or pastry and is sold outside of a fridge is either hydrogenated (which creates trans fat) or made with an even more unhealthy chemical to preserve it.
"How can you trim the fat from your budget when you can't trim the fat from your own ass?"
This just in, Schwarzenegger bans transgender fats!
The "I want to put everything i want on my body" argument is complete bullshit, like trans are in any aspect good...
The "I want to put everything i want on my body" argument is complete bullshit, like trans are in any aspect good...
yeah, it's not like smoking or something where people at least get something out of it... there is NO positive aspect whatsoever to trans fats for the consumer and no reason for anyone to bitch about it being banned.
Who cares, it's the peoples' choice to eat such things. They should know that burgers and burritos are fucking unhealthy. This is socialism in action. Do you really believe that banning trans-fats will lead to ??? You live in a REPUBLIC. If you don't like it, fucking move out of the US and live somewhere where: There are no schools. There are no police. There are no fire departments. You pay full price at the hospital. There are no Highways, Interstates, or Roads. There are no road signs, traffic lights, or fucking LANES. There are no civil rights. There is no voting. There is no legislative branch. There is no judicial branch. There is no executive branch (really, do we need that?). I know, live in Yemen. I could go on about all the things that your "socialist" government gives you that you take for granted, but I won't. Meanwhile, stop confusing social laws with socialism. /rant
why does everyone hate fat people so much they're just people who have made a choice :saddowns:
why does everyone hate fat people so much they're just people who have made a choice :saddowns:
I don't hate fat people. I hate having to pay for their heart attacks.
What concerns me is this will start up another fat scare, just when people were starting to learn that most fats are actually incredibly GOOD for you. Trans fats are about the only type of fat I can think of that's health concerns are not debateable. Even forms of saturated fats are good for you.
alcohol is TOXIC, nicotine is TOXIC, THC-9 is TOXIC yet in those threads it's cool to support the pro status.
Yes but all of those substances have positive effects
yes actually, I don't want the government regulating what I can put into my body. this forum is hypocritical, the majority of you drink, smoke, do cannabis (among other things) and then you see a thread about eating fatty foods and jump on this futuristic bandwagon with laser guns that you use to shoot everything that moves. alcohol is TOXIC, nicotine is TOXIC, THC-9 is TOXIC yet in those threads it's cool to support the pro status. And trans fat isn't all fat, trans fat is useless and connected to a variety of health problems
I'm still angry that they banned foie gras. Someone needs to find a way to combine the two and then serve it in a restaurant whilst smoking a cigarette.
