A major screwup and they provide no communication to millions of people that use their service.
Valve sure went to shit.
And they could have literally just have had an Alerts Steam group for these sort of things :suicide:
Can they get anything regarding credit card info?
That's what ASAP means in Valve time.
It only shows the name of the payment method (e.g. Paypal). I don't know but it could possibly display your credit card digits too (e.g. VISA ending in 1234).
Kind of glad that I use QIWI wallet that doesn't need linking to the account, phew.
Right, guess I'm wiping my payment info and turning on iOS authentication when I get the chance. I haven't gotten a credit card notification, but I'll have to check my checking account later. Guess I'm going to be requesting new cards too.
welp i unlinked all my shit 5mins before steamdb said that, ace

Im pretty sure they have a pager, they obviously have to get into work and then try and make stuff work. Valve are probably freaking out at the moment.
Took nearly an hour for valve to shut it down
And for a minute there I thought I broke it on my end, trying to find out who played dating sims
Since you can edit numbers on an account, I wonder if you can trigger a password reset and take control of someone's account by adding your own number.
Who would be stupid enough to do that, though. Right?
I am not a smart man, and I wouldn't
nice spending christmas afternoon watch your 2 payment accounts plus emails to see if someone is trying to fuck with you.

It's down now, so when it's back (and hopefully fixed) just link it back up again and you should be good
a hour is unacceptable when it comes to a shitstorm like this
maybe 5-20 minutes, but a whole fucking hour is just "shut it the fuck down" tier.
seriously.
Why would it be dangerous to unlink stuff though?
Well. Merry Christmas, everybody :v:
Since now we can delete the games without any support or email approval, does that mean someone could just have deleted all my games due to a glitch?
thanks valve
Why would it be dangerous to unlink stuff though?
I think it potentially puts you next in line to have your info cached? Idk how exactly these things work
Dont unlink your paypals guys, its the only thing putting you in risk!
Do NOT attempt to unlink PayPal, remove your credit card details or anything else. Doing so will put you at risk instead.
And how much do you wanna bet they're STILL going to change nothing after this blows over?
Why would it be dangerous to unlink stuff though?
because of the chacheing issue.
This problem is due to how steam is caching pages. Going to your own page, and viewing it loads it into the cache. Not doing that means it's not going to be accessible or rerouted to other people.
WHY HAVENT THEY SHUTDOWN EVERYTHING YET
because its steam support
expect an automated response in 2 days!
I think they pulled the plug, took a hour or so
better late than never right?

No, You CAN unlink Paypal, but only through paypal itself. NOT steam.
I'm getting the feeling with the major, MAJOR amount of shit this allows people to get a hold of, names, numbers, addresses and other shit, and the fact that it's entirely possible that people will steal accounts and buy games with this (it's definitely being attempted), I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Valve got sued in to oblivion.
How do you fuck up this fucking bad?
And how much do you wanna bet they're STILL going to change nothing after this blows over?
What is there to change exactly? This was the first time this glitch happened.
couldn't a paypal user just go to their account and disable Valve from automatically making payments?
Can't see tweets so no clue what's going on
Why would it be dangerous to unlink stuff though?
Might mess up cache data
Im pretty sure they have a pager, they obviously have to get into work and then try and make stuff work. Valve are probably freaking out at the moment.
They use their forum (not Steam discussions) for updates but yeah, nothing about this fiasco on the forum aside from people spamming "Pull the plug".
So just unlink from paypal.com instead I guess.
