I am simply showing that steam's HTTP software is majorly outdated. I put a link to what the current version is.
ok, i didnt know what it was, thanke for letting me know.
They use WWW.STEAMPOWERED.COM, not STEAMGAMES for transactions. It's rude to scare people.
Are you sure? I mean.. it's different every time I use my debit card.
It's absolutely dumb to think you can buy a game on someone's account.
You can't. And I don't think you ever could during this 'event'.
origin had 30 million users against steams 50 lmao are you fucking high
30 million against steam 50 million but how many are always active? I don't know a single person who uses Origin, nonetheless anyone who uses it constantly, but I know tons of people who own Steam and always have it running. I'm gonna go on a limb and say the two companies have very different active userbases and Origin does have better support, but remember to take into account that they don't have nearly an active playerbase like Steam, and despite that they still have less registered users.
ffs, yesterday I added 400$ to my steam account and the last 100$ charge hasn't shown up on my bank info yet and I unlinked steam from my paypal thing. I'm afraid that that last 100$ wont go through and I'm going to get fucked because of it.
Get off steam dude. For god sake.
Alright, just did. Thanks for the info.
They do use steamgames.com sometimes, this is directly from my bank. I'm not confirming if he was telling the truth or not, just that it's not instantly fake because of that detail.
Are you sure? I mean.. it's different every time I use my debit card.
If those numbers are important, I can see pretty much every one of them
We still don't know for sure, though. Maybe there's someone out there who does have this ability. For all we know, that could be true.
And this -- you aren't helping. Please stop being sensational for a second while the rest of us try to figure out what's actually happening.
...really the only problem with origin is that it only has EA games on it

origin had 30 million users against steams 50 lmao are you fucking high
Yeah, Steam is bigger and has more to deal with.
Are you sure? I mean.. it's different every time I use my debit card.
valve doesn't own steamgames.com so idk why they'd be running charges with that url
They do use steamgames.com sometimes, this is directly from my bank.
blank that info out dude seriously
In the end, this was a good thing. I was about to buy a game, but this has given me time to realize that I really didn't want to buy the game after all :v:
alright guys, i'm just going to print out exactly what information is exposed for people who still dont understand Can people buy stuff with my account? No, its a cache. Being able to buy stuff with the respective account requires an active session id. Can people see my credit card information? Yes, but only your last 4 digits. As well as that, your full name is displayed. Can people see my address? Yes, steam will display the address linked to your billing payment. What personal information is exposed? Your steam wallet balance, your address, the last four digits on your credit card. Your email address and your username. Can people actually do harm to my account? Again, no.
well hopefully the anger will actually result in a change this time.
They better hire dedicated support staff now, with fixed job position and tasks. One thing is game design, but managing a online store with a community is a wholly different beast that should be taken Bobby Kotick level seriously.
blank that info out dude seriously
You should probably unquote it dude
If those numbers are important, I can see pretty much every one of them
425-952-2985
blank that info out dude seriously
looks like it's just an ID for valve, that number shows up a bunch when you google it tied to valve
blank that info out dude seriously
That's Valve's phone number. It's not sensitive info.
guys, valve do use steamgames. This was my transaction for £10 the other day. I don't believe the purchase posts, but Valve does use steamgames.
At least he got banned. Should stop any other assholes from trying to stir shit up.
Hopefully this steam mess get fixed by then...
Wait, they really have FULL access to the account? Because we have to add that there are some games inventories worth more than 75000$
The program runs faster, starts and exits quicker, doesn't take 5 to 10 seconds to load new pages, has a more stable connection, has support that doesn't take a decade to respond with a canned answer really the only problem with origin is that it only has EA games on it
from what I remember it uses even more ram than steam but who the fuck cares because ram is cheap these days
I guess Valve brought everyone together by sharing accounts with everyone. Merry Christmas!
nothing personal here but this is what the last few steam transactions hav elooked like have seen the one or two steampowered ones but most of my steam shit appears as this
weird i've only got steampowered charges
Wait, they really have FULL access to the account? Because we have to add that there are some games inventories worth more than 75000$
absolutely not they just see a CACHED version, not a full version basically nothing bad should come out of this aside from emails and addresses being jacked, but that's still serious
Boy am I glad I bought the FTL soundtrack before all this shit happened. Really helped calming down after this clusterfuck.
Wait, they really have FULL access to the account? Because we have to add that there are some games inventories worth more than 75000$
no, they had access to account details
weird i've only got steampowered charges
It probably differs per country.
The only thing to do is wait and see how Steam will handle this fiasco.
I'm guessing 'poorly'.
