I'm about to miss a holiday sale because transactions are locked.
ho-ho-ho
oh man, several people use GOG over steam??? man that really competes with valve's total domination of the PC market
tell me when you see a AAA game on gog please
i dont understand
why are you comparing gog with steam?
gogs goal is not to compete with steam, but to attract people via the use of old games, and indie games.
If they don't even acknowledge this or compensate people for this breech I don't think I can trust valve anymore with steam.

exactly, that's my point. He's saying gog is a competitor when it very obviously isn't
Its an example. You can't just say they only sell old and indie games when its not true.
Several people use GOG over Steam.
I guess you must be right, I'll just go get MGSV on GoG instead

oh wait
I don't need to cite sources
Ok
Its back up.
I don't expect a statement until they're sure its fixed.
Shameful that we only have a statement from some community mod.

I pointed out GOG as a place people buy games over steam. Which is a valid point, because GOG being DRM free, and most GOG versions being better over their steam counterpart, which is a competing factor.
did anyone managed to login? i can't here to see my purchase history
You mean information that so many people willingly share on social media sites?
I don't and I know plenty of people who also don't.
The information that is plastered to every single letter you get (sans the phone)?
So goo ol' physical snailmail = The internet as a whole? okay boyo...
I mean, clearly it isn't ideal that this information was being leaked, but to act like it's this massive issue is ridiculous.
You know what is a massive issue? Your entire life in minute detail being leaked due to the incompetence of OPM.
Stop downplaying a massive sensitive information breach, besides a good part of the reason people are mad is because people have directed attention at Valve MANY times that they're been beyond lazy with managing steam, 'live' support and community management.
And now shit happened because they didn't listen to the warnings, that they need (more and/or competent) dedicated staff for those tasks.

a major pulling factor for steam is the community,
i think if steam didn't have such a good community hub we'd not be using it as much as we are.
The most I've ever seen for a thread.

I saw it get up to nearly 1800 earlier, didn't bother screenshotting though
:ok:

I really do hope they give a statement. This is a pretty big fuckup, but I wish people wouldn't call it a major breach in Steam when it wasn't a hack.
You have no payment methods associated with this account.
It appears that my payment methods were wiped out by Valve. Can anyone else confirm?

Major Steam Glitch - Let's discuss the state of PC gaming

I'm also getting this.
So it's safe to use steam services now?
It appears that my payment methods were wiped out by Valve. Can anyone else confirm?
Mine is still there, but I hadn't logged into Steam at all during the fiasco.
So it's safe to use steam services now?
They wouldn't have brought it back up if it wasn't.
I'd wait a little longer, though.
So it's safe to use steam services now?

There was an error communicating with the Steam servers. Please try again later.
It was always safe to use your library and play games.
This is pretty high up on the list of things that should never EVER happen with an online store.
I can login now woo
I pointed out GOG as a place people buy games over steam. Which is a valid point, because GOG being DRM free, and most GOG versions being better over their steam counterpart, which is a competing factor.
it still doesn't compete because it doesn't have the literal thousands of games, AAA, indie, or old, that steam does
People do not think, "hmm, this brand new AAA game looks great... but should I get it on steam, or GoG?"
They have no choice. It is steam only. Maybe it's on origin or uplay, but only if EA or Ubisoft makes it. That also is not competition. It's a company releasing the game on their own DRM service that doesn't try to compete with Steam.
So it's safe to use steam services now?
I'd wait a bit for either a statement from Steam or for a report from the community, everything *seems* okay but it wouldn't hurt to wait just in case.
Steam's back up and I've had a look at what sorta stuff could theoretically be 'seen' by others. They can get the address/phone number you gave for your billing information and then the last couple digits of your card number and also the phone number you use for steam gard (the last couple digits).
My address is actually out of date and I've not gotten round to changing it yet so it's not an issue for me personally but could well be for others.
They could also theoretically see your purchase history and also your game keys.

This isn't as bad as a database leak that is much more common, but noone ever gets angry at the several stores that get their databases/card info broken into.

Ah yes

Mine's still there!
Let's see how much longer Valve takes to make a satement.
I'm betting on 2 more hours.

I'm sure the numbers have shifted since 2011 but it's not that hard to Google around for this kind of information.
