Thank god i have an empty gift card hooked up to my account and only $1.90 in it.
As far as I know, you cannot purchase anything on someone elses account, you just get an error.
I tried to purchase a game about 8 times before I knew I was on someone else's account.
Same thing happened to me, I tried like 5 times to buy a gift for a friend, but nothing was appearing in my cart. Went back to the main store page and everything just fell apart.
Hope nobody at valve thinks I was trying to spend OTHER people's money
Looks like https://store.steampowered.com/account was taken down
They should just shutdown Steam right now. Fuck people trying to play games, it's a small price to pay over something as major as this
Yeah, they pulled the plug. Took them long enough.
unlinked paypal from steam, thankfully steam guard is enabled so there shouldn't be any problems other than my private info being in the hands of some random bobs and ivans

Do NOT attempt to unlink PayPal, remove your credit card details or anything else. Doing so will put you at risk instead.
Eh...
Quick list of compromised info if someone lands on your page:
- Your Steam login name
- Your Steam Wallet Balance
- Your Email address
- Your Steam Guard status
- Last few digits of your phone number if you have mobile authentication
- Your (store) Country
- Your entire purchase history
- Your entire license/product activation history (e.g. activating a retail purchase on Steam)
Looks like they might be shutting certain bits of Steam account stuffs now to contain the damage.
Your real name, address, post/zip code, phone number were also on view
so what? Logging out is the only thing we can do for now?
A major screwup and they provide no communication to millions of people that use their service.
Valve sure went to shit.

At risk for what, didn't they say this wasn't a security breach? :^)

your adress, name, phone number if you decided to save CC payment information
This might be the biggest snafu of a major program I've ever seen, how the fuck are they not saying anything
At least no CC info has been leaked
why, how does this put me at more risk
Because you would be attempting to load a page which would put it into the cache and it may then be served up to another user if this is indeed the problem.
Um, why are there games in my cart? Jesus christ Valve.
I think they pulled the plug, took a hour or so
No joke, I saw the account of someone who lives about 30 minutes away. Kinda fucked that you can see addresses and phone numbers.
Thank goodness I only have 0.01 in my steam account :v:
I am fucking pissed
Dont try and Unlink your shit guys

i'd assume no one was in the office, or was in a position to do anything.. valve is a smaller company and it is christmas day after all.
wouldn't make sense even by valves standard to let its gold mine turn into the wild west deliberately or ignore it that long.
My advice is to just monitor your banking info, your phone, and your email to make sure no compromises happen. Just keep checking them.
and stay the fuck off the store, go in offline or family mode and stop viewing pages.
you know, i should panic even more since i'm blindly watching how shit happens. And i don't even have e-bank credentials. i can only go to the closes ATM and check my balance
Only took them 40 goddamn minutes to pull the plug.
i would not be surprised if the entire office took the day off and they only noticed this was happening 15 minutes ago
Should I log out?
How do you even fuck up a cache manager this bad.
It actually wouldn't be that hard to cause this sort of issue tbh.
facepunch had a similar issue a few years back

I got banned for leaking mod forum content using this glitch
Can they get anything regarding credit card info?
That's what ASAP means in Valve time.
They can get the last 2 digits of a card, and your home address.
great i removed all my payment methods from my steam and 5 minutes later steamdb says "DON'T REMOVE PAYMENT INFO FROM STEAM"
I'm praying that SteamDB is fox news levels of fear mongering but they're probably not.

It's been under an hour and it's christmas, I'm sure we will hear something soon. Though this is still a massive fuck up.
Luckily if you didn't use the store today much then you should be fine for the most part. The caching servers are just using the same pages others have loaded rather than reloading it all for you. At least thats the general idea I'm getting.
