if i could sit in front of my computer all day and make fat stacks making a couple of fat nerds who have nothing better to do with their lives then watch another person play video games i'd be all for it.
Why do you gotta hate on people just because you can't do it? Some got lucky, some worked hard at gaining their viewer base, and some are just fun to watch. Just because they found a way to make money by doing what they love you gotta get all hostile and hateful? The only implication your post makes is that you think that a persons income should be gained through unpleasant means, and that's retarded.
I dont think Furrys should "burn in an oven" but they certainly need medical treatment. It is not normal to reject your own personality and be a manwolf just because a funny thing called "The Internet" grants you partial anonymity. I mean come on, as soon as you start questioning what they believe in they respond in a hostile manner similiar to addicts or other mental patients. Dont hate them, pity them. Furries probably dont match entirely but most show symptoms of Avoidant Personality Disorder. It often stems from bullying. They dig themselves deeper and deeper in their fantasies. They will have serious troubles later on in life and will probably always feel disconnected from other non furries. [editline]g[/editline] Rating me dumb will surely enhance my views on the subject good job. Cant you see that you are just further proving my point? I literally didn't post anything insulting it's how I view the whole thing.
Alright so, I just got finished reading this entire thread and thought I'd share a funny tidbit with you guys. I actually want to express how much I'm laughing my ass off that the person in the emote(nightlight/thetwfz/leo wolf) has all this drama around him, because in the furry community he's well known for being a try hard "look at me" type and a troll. He partners up with friends and boyfriends who he thinks will make him more known(probably why he got with Horror) and uses them to help himself get more followers. He is frequently seen commenting around just being a general dick to people(sometimes in PMs but sometimes blatantly on people's profiles) and also posting shitty irrelevant comments where they don't belong. I'm fairly certain just by his usual attitude that this is why he got the emote in the first place, to get attention. Now the funny part is this guy isn't even underaged, apparently this manchild is 26. He likes to "troll" underaged or young people in general on behalf of himself and his friends for having "fursonas" that look close to the ones his friends made. His group of friends does this relentlessly actually, I myself was targeted by this group for my character having stripes on my characters face and being grey, and a good friend of mine was targeted relentlessly for being a yellow fox with spiky hair. Not to mention other random comments I have found around deviantART and furaffinity of this group of people, including TheTWFZ, targeting and mocking people. This is probably one of my favourite examples of such since it shows how ridiculously childish this person is: http://comments.deviantart.com/1/335273350/2804299474 "Deni" is the person that DREW THE NIGHTLIGHT EMOTE. Her furry name is "SilverDeni" and her lame excuse of an Internet boyfriend is "MushyMutt". More of this group being fucktards(this stuff is towards me): https://www.dropbox.com/s/ir6wgldgrel02n5/whatIsee.png There is more but I'm not going to bore you all with that. I just thought I'd post what I knew about the people involved. To me, this guy deserves being trolled just like he has done to so many others. I almost feel bad for being so happy about this.
The problem is he actually trolled the entire Twitch community with this shit little emoticon. It just snowballed very hard and because of Horror being so fuckdumb incompetent(or the Twitch Admins circlejerking I'm not sure on that) it escalated to extreme measures.
The problem is he actually trolled the entire Twitch community with this shit little emoticon. Like why can't other furries grasp that regular people find your gay furry vore disgusting and weird. Also should add Leo's fursona is the embodiment of the vore fetish as he has hundreds of pictures of himself eating other furries. He is known for vore in the community, spams it everywhere. So Twitch users are legitimately upset to have that face in there. Not to mention they're pulling a major Streisand effect here trying to cover it up while everyone posts about it.
You seem pretty down to earth, so maybe you could shed some light on the whole furry thing especially why some of them are so goddamn ignorant on the subject. More importantly, where did the urge to create this character stem from? When did you first decide to do it? How is interacting with other furries, are there like different groups(down to earth guys, the ones that would get surgery to look like a wolf etc...)? How do you identify aka how do you view your fursona? Is it "there" aka real or just a mask you hold in front of your face on the internet kind of like how 4chan hides behind anonimity? The concept of giving up your own personality is so alien to me it just plain doesnt make sense. Dont get me wrong I'm also quite a nerd on many subjects, I like Warhammer, Zombies, Godzilla and lots of other stuff considered geeky but the whole Furry thing I never got, except that it's most likely a psychological condition and not just a simple fandom.

I wasn't trying to force my views I am looking for answers so what is the fandom about then in your opinion? Dude dont be mad, all I see are idiots drawing fox porn(this is what I SEE, I'm not saying they are like that) and the conclusion I came to was what I posted above, no need to get upset about it.

The fandom, is like many other communities, about a common interest and being a part of something, it's a way to give yourself an identity, just as someone who likes football would call themselves a football fan. It's a way to socialize with others, and with a common interest it becomes easier to go somewhere with it. It's about belonging somewhere.
The reason those pics end up in deviantart appreciation station and lmao pics frequently is because it's fun to laugh at those nutters being awkward, people wouldn't really gawk at some generic furry art.
No of course not. What's funny about the norm? People just wouldn't understand. Are you going to answer my question? What is it about if it's not the points I stated and are you a furry yourself?

I think you're misunderstanding a few things, not all furries are people who think they're some kind of hybrid animal-man race on the inside. I know a lot who are just sexually furries, and very much identify has human - But I also know a lot of these make a 'fursona' since that's usually the norm within the furry community. Personally I think that, for the majority, being a furry is more of a symptom of lacking social skills to some degree (hence a lot of furries tend to be people with some degree of Autism, but not all people with autism are furries (just mentioning this since some people jump to that conclusion, not implying that you do.)), and the fursonas are a front allowing them to interact more easily with others, much like anonymity. As for the sexual parts of it, I think it stems from the same place - Not being as comfortable with human interaction, and furries are 'simpler' in a sense (I'm horrible at explaining this, and it's just my theory, I don't pretend to speak for the furry community) I've also seen a relatively large amount of people claiming to be 'former' furries corrolating with a period of depression or social awkwardness/low self-esteem, and their 'furryness' faded with it. I'd like to mention that I'm a furry myself (with mild Autism) Sorry if my post seems a bit fractured, I lost my train of thought several times while writing it.

Is it "there" aka real or just a mask you hold in front of your face on the internet kind of like how 4chan hides behind anonimity?
That is a lot of questions so I will try to answer as best I can! :) I'd like to start by saying, like most furries, I've loved Disney movies and animals since I was very young. I've also been an artistic creative type as well, all the way back as far as I can remember(my mom even said I was drawing "ever since I could hold a pencil") and continuing to now where I'm 19 and drawing furries for a living. One of my favourite things to draw was animals, like my pets or cartoon ones from TV. Anyways fast forward, around 2006 I joined an oekaki(drawing board) and I saw people making these animals(usually canines or dragons) that they called their "fursonas". At this point all the way up until 2009 I didn't know what furries are but I liked the idea of a fursona. A fursona is just an animal persona, to clear things up. I never used to identify strongly with any of my characters until I hit high school where I first met a real life furry. She wasn't big into it either but the idea of it stuck. After I learned the word I went and looked it up. I thought furaffinity was disgusting at first but later learned it was just an art site, like deviantart, but more for the animal fursonas I liked to draw. About 6 months or so after I made my current fursona "Thera" in 2009 I decided to join FurAffinity in 2010 and post my furry art there instead of deviantart. There is a more personal bit too, when I first became a furry is when I was out in foster care. Before I started making fursonas I was sexually abused by my step father(touching, not full on rape). A I've always been a more shy and reserved type with some underlying anxieties but hey, everyone has had their share of shit in life right? I don't like to dwell on it but I would say for me it is probably the triggering factor to me becoming a furry. Interaction between furries. Most furries are socially awkward as fuck, I'm no exception really. Until recently I was always very socially inept. Not unintelligent but I just didn't know what to say, when, or how to get along with people. Most of the time when I go to meet a new furry it can go one of few ways. You get the kinds like my boyfriend. Someone that posted on 4chan and liked furries but never really open about it. Very smart guy, and he loves foxes but he isn't autistic about it. Another kind you get is the manipulative kind, the kind of person that will pretend to be your friend for sex that they're lacking, or free shit, etc. There are also a lot of underaged kids and 20something year olds that love to party and go to furry conventions and drink and do drugs. All kinds really. Most often I see just harmless socially inept furs, but sometimes you can get lucky and find some chill ones. Meeting furries is like meeting any other person, you can never know what to expect but my experience with furries is particularly bad. Bullying, name calling, misogyny, rape stories, cliques, murrsuiters(furries that fuck in suits), people completely obsessed with the whole thing and wear a tail everywhere, the whole nine yards. My fursona is basically just how I draw myself. Being an artist I draw all the time, and I think corgi dogs(mine is a mutt dog but anyways) are cute. I think I am cute, I'm also short like my fursona, and well there are other personal things I put in her to that made her think of "me". I mostly wear mute or dark clothes so she is grey/black/white, I'm short so she is a corgi mutt, she has front paw spots because of a dog I liked back when I first made her(my friend that showed me what furries were had a 3 legged border collie with those paws), she's happy and bouncy like I am, likes Oreos like I do, and really she's just an all around fun and quirky type- like I consider myself to be. So she isn't really a mask I hide behind, more like just how I put myself out there and she's what I'm known for, if that makes sense(my RL identity is directly tied to her, everyone knows I like furries). I also make sure my actual face is around too, people know who I am and know I'm not just some dog lady haha! Sorry if I'm kinda rambling here but it's almost 5am. Hope my post taught you some stuff? Really though I'm just your average 19 year old girl that likes animals and plushies and costumed people and parties. I even cringe at what other people do in this fandom. :/ Like Horror here, really??
No of course not. What's funny about the norm? People just wouldn't understand. Are you going to answer my question? The fandom sure has it's shady backside, but a lot of fandoms have it, with football fans we have hooligans. Every group has "extremists"

I completely agree with you there because it's basically what I stated in my first post, especially were I wrote about the connections to Avoidant Personality Disorder, bullying and the like yet Fatfatfatty doesnt seem to agree on that part. I understood everything you were trying to say except that some furries are just sexually furries? What does that mean? "just"? So they like the whole furry thing without having a fursona or something?

They're mostly similar to the furry community, having to constantly defend themselves from the accusations of sexism/racism, the reports of media/psycologists, and the perceptions made by non-gamers. It's the same. Anyone who participated long enough in the community knows this. Which is why anyone shouldn't care when their subculture is attacked.
